@@hatoraidcowboy Agreed! I have the Z20 Pro and have been super happy with it. The UI isn't as pretty on the one I have but for the cost I really wouldn't even think to complain about that. I think the next few years of home theater are going to be about previously high end devices getting much more affordable versions from brands like Zidoo. Just look at projectors, an off brand model that costs 1400ish now looks as good as a high end 4k from a few years ago. And yes there are obviously advantages a JVC will always have over the off brands. But more and more the cost difference isn't going to justify the extra sometimes 20k in price difference between the off brand.

Nice review on the setup on the VIDEO capability. At this price you need to use the audio capability to justify the investment. Would love to see a follow up on the audio using the XLR outs and internal DAC, just using the unit as a streamer into a DAC. I see in setup menu it can also stream Atmos music. Thanks

I'm pretty sure all the new 8K players have the same UI. If not, they do have the same Poster Wall (HT5) as my Z9X Pro. Also, they all use the same chip. The only difference is that the 3000 and 8000 have 8GB of RAM, and the Z9X 8K has 6GB. I iwll be getting the Z9X 8K because I do not need all the extra features and I use a NAS.
a AVR is what pepole use to process the video part. that zidoo box also has a video processor. one would have to be bypassed. so really. this is for a projector monitor.
I would like to know if it actually supports 8K plus HDR. I have another device that claims to support 8K but once it reaches 8K, it will only play 8K SDR. HDR is only supported up to 4K.
@@SRMB1 I'm playing actual 8K and HDR clips via UA-cam. You can see the resolution using the "stats for nerds". I have over 100 of these clips on a playlist.
@@hatoraidcowboy I don’t think there is a lot of 8K to watch to make it make sense yet. Plus you would need a monster size screen for it to make even more sense. These new chips are a game changer and should be great for high bitrate remux files. Now the decision for me will be the smaller player or larger player. For just video audio quality without the Hdd bays and all the extra ports needed will the Z player be just as good? I don’t need hdd bays or xlr or anything too fancy
Hello Jordan. Great video and info. As you know, I'm a Zappiti user. Did not like Zidoo because of the issues with 4K. Seems you have confirmed that the issue has been fixed. Dune 2 buffered on my Zappiti. I refuse to give R_Volution any money. Also looking at Dune HD 8k Solo. Do you think this Zidoo will work for me?
Thank you! This UHD800 is by far the most solid out of all 3 Zidoo’s that I own. Its great. Massive improvement in both audio and video. I think you would really like this player.
What is the advantage of using this for streaming movies? My current setup on my network I use Plex on all my devices and have a main server where I store all my movies/tv shows. I use Nvidia Shield as a client to stream movies which also has AI Upscaling.
MUCH more functionality and format playback. Plex is limited to file playback that is inferior to devices like these. Plus you dont have to build a HTPC. You can get a NAS and let the Zidoo do all the rest. I havent used plex in a few years since I’ve had the Zidoo

I have a plex pass so the coolest feature is current movie trailers and my custom pre rolls, I have please do not use your phone ,Sphere showing off my Atmos, Marvel and a feature presentation. I moved from the UHD3000 to the UHD5000, I must admit I didn't find much of a difference, for those in doubt keep the 3000 and spend the doe on beer. Has anyone had the chance to compare the UHD5000 to this UHD8000 ?
It's not going to improve the picture quality. Only thing that might matter is 8k but there is no content for that and I don't even know if the AI upscale will make it look even close to 8k
I bought a Zappiti Reference player a few months before they went bust. I run the R_Volution software on it which is better than the Zappiti one I think. I’m tempted by this Zidoo player though.
@@hatoraidcowboy One question, how is the drive sound when it plays a movie. I have 2 16gb drives in my Zappiti Reference player and they make a clunking noise when it reads the data. Bit annoying when you’re watching a movie.
@FooFighter33 Yea my other previous Zidoo players were pretty loud reading the HDD’s as well. The UHD8000 seems to be pretty quiet. I havent noticed any noise coming from reading the drives.

Not sure on the DACS. You’ll prob have to reach out to Zidoo. I believe its possible to side load Amazon or Netflix but this isnt what the device is made for. I’m only strictly using this for movie playback

Yes…..you can side load third party apps but that’s not at all what these devices are intended for. Kind of wish they would stop supporting third party apps cause Zidoo products are not advertising these as netflix boxes.

@alantan6786 Thanks. I use Apple TV for all streaming. More streaming apps on Zidoo means more licensing fees which would probably reduce the quality of the product. I’m fine with zero apps cause it means they can focus on one thing….building a great 4K media player.
Bro, what I wanna say to you today is the following: Look, the Force is with you: Android 8K media players are the future, but for now I'm sticking with the disk medium. The streaming rate is still unmatched with UHD 4K discs compared to streaming services, hey, and I already have a UHD 4K player in my inventory for 1000 dollars. So why spend another 1400 EURO for an 8K Android media player, especially since two hard disks with a total of 700 EURO would have to follow? Furthermore, I have only bought around 30 films digitally from Apple TV, Netflix and Amazon Prime, which is only worthwhile from around 150 at the earliest. Especially as the menu navigation in poster design is also available on the platforms mentioned above. My LS 12000B is not 8K capable!!! Yes, the ESS9069Q DAC is very good, but I have already installed the ESSS D/A ES9026Pro and ES9007S in my RX-A6A. So several of them! It's not worth it for me yet. First I'll get more cameras for my home security, and then I'll get a new theater seat. In the meantime, it's also my wife's birthday... . NO it doesn't that's not the job of a player !! The player MUST be configured to "RAW" in order for the processor to be able to pic the right soundtrack for decoding. Now, in RAW mode this player outputs EVERY format.
This is the closest us (me) peasents are going to get to the Kaleidescape experience i think. I understand this is DIY, but its easily more convenient than building a rig from scratch, and probably better quality than Plex etc if you do a 1:1 rip. At this price, Im defo getting one!
This is my favorite 4K/8K media player so far. Zidoo really perfected this round of flagship. I still very much enjoy ripping discs and adding them to my movie server. This UHD8000 gets me excited for more DIY.
Plex is limited in file playback. Plus you have to build your own htpc with plex. This eliminates that. Not to mention many other features over PLEX. If you watch the video you’ll see how different this is than PLEX. But do what you want, to each his own.
MEH! A PC with a 4090 and a decent madVR setup running Kodi with Arctic Horizon 2 skin and External player config with my 90TB collection, fkn pwns this thing! The UI on this thing is trash too!

They have been good for a while now. Been using Zidoo for about 4 years. Highly recommend them.

You’re welcome! This player does not have the ability to create demo clips.
I use Makemkv to rip my movies in full audio and video quality.

Honestly I would never use PLEX on these devices. This is far superior to PLEX. PLEX is far more limited

Not sure. I’m not using this for PLEX so I didnt even look but I’ve heard you can side load Plex and Emby.
How is image quality compared to previous gen? Noticable? What about Dolby Vision PQ?
There is a slight noticeable improvement in picture quality with that better power supply. Dolby Vision looks good

This is the closest us (me) peasents are going to get to the Kaleidescape experience i think.
I understand this is DIY, but its easily more convenient than building a rig from scratch, and probably better quality than Plex etc if you do a 1:1 rip.
At this price, Im defo getting one!
This is my favorite 4K/8K media player so far. Zidoo really perfected this round of flagship. I still very much enjoy ripping discs and adding them to my movie server. This UHD8000 gets me excited for more DIY.
Why would I get this device instead of a nas and just run plex.
Plex is limited in file playback. Plus you have to build your own htpc with plex. This eliminates that. Not to mention many other features over PLEX. If you watch the video you’ll see how different this is than PLEX. But do what you want, to each his own.

MEH! A PC with a 4090 and a decent madVR setup running Kodi with Arctic Horizon 2 skin and External player config with my 90TB collection, fkn pwns this thing! The UI on this thing is trash too!
To each his own. If you have a HTPC that’s great. I love Zidoo players. I’m never going back to a HTPC other than to store my ripped 4K movies
