  • Yo!! Whaaazzuppp dudes?!? I finally got my 70s Ovation Viper up and running. With a solid maple body, neck and fingerboard, it's a little bright, to say the least. Add to that single-coil pickups and it's triple treble trouble. So I eq'd the first two TH2 patches to lower the brightness a bit. Those both use the Randall T2 head. The last one is the Mr. Scary model in the Lynch Box head, which is one of my favorite patches.
    Enjoy!

That brings me back. I loved mine. The fit, finish, the frets were large, loved that. The tuning gears are high end, and that sucker stayed in tune. In a fit of my addled young age, like 35 years ago, I went Pete Townsend on it. Sad but true story.

It's a nice one, for sure. 24 frets on a neck in the 1970s was pretty rare. That feature alone makes it a rare bird. I was not so into it when I first got it, but now I'm loving it.

By the by, the screw on the back is to adjust string angle on the saddle as well as passive hight adjustment in conjunction with the actual hight adjustment screws on the bridge itself. Real innovation for the time period, way ahead of its time!

Had mine for 35 years.Broke my jack by using a striaght plug like yours.I was sitting down and stood up with my foot on the cord. Now I only use right angle jacks and spiral cords.Love the Viper had a new guard made but no viper logo.Glen Campell played a 12 string version. Lenos player plays one too. What a steal for forty bucks.I'll check the e-bay out thanks. It plays as good or better than the Tele

I bought one at a music store in Nashville in 2017. it was pristine. It had tags from original dealer, original strings, love it great for country Tele like sound. I also have A Preacher and it has the crunch you need to play rock. Love these guitars
