Marker Dedication for the 1st Sites of Enslavement Marker.: The Emancipation Building

On Juneteenth, 2024, Mayor Micheal O'Connor along with Dr Cheryl Renee Gooch, President of AARCH, USCT reenactors Robert L. Ford and Kelly Washington, and Christina Martinkoski, Historic Preseration Planner with The City of Frederick, unvieled the first marker of the Sites of Enslavement series of markers.
These markers will recognize sites associated with the lives of enslaved persons and the institution of slavery, with a particular focus on sites located within the Frederick Historic District.
