Im still in disbelief too, but also kinda glad it’s all over now and I can move on to working on something else. Yeah! I was thinking of people who punch these out .040 or even .060 over for a rebuild how thin the casting actually gets!!! 😬😬😳
One of the biggest mistakes I ever made was using block fill in a Cleveland because of all the yadda about core shift in the casting process....the forged TRW pistons would slap when it was cold, so I filled the block......constant over heat at the end of the eighth!
I’ve never used block fill, none of my builds have ever gotten that serious. But I’ve heard it from at least one other person that confirms what you are saying!
@@MrBlitzkrieg1987 that's a great point!! If my math is correct, going 40 over would be roughly 1mm larger, meaning you'd be shaving .5mm frm that wall.

I’ve actually seen both Y and X on Mustangs… my brothers hatch had a Y block as well and Im almost 💯 sure its factory. Unless someone swapped it in too 😂🤣
@@alltherpm yeah, I believe you! The SN95 302 that I put on the T-top was an XXX, Im not really sure that these yyy blocks were original to the cars, maybe someone swapped them in at some point.

That is roughly a smidge under 5mm then. That's a lot thinner than I expected!! Nice info.
I was thinking that as well! Also about how much thinner they get after being bored out a couple of times 😬
