Mount Vernon native here! I grew up eating this pizza, waiting up to an hour on hot summer nights for our pies to be ready, and it was always worth the wait. Absolutely the best pizza ever!! Everyone in the area knows about Johnny’s!!! Shout out to Concetta!

I live in mount Vernon, I have had johnnys for my whole life, it is some of the best pizza you will ever have and if anyone’s goes to ny you have to try it. It is amazing.

Yes. The crunch was heard and you could see the char spots around the ring. It looked like an 8+++ right from the get go. But what was beautiful and tipped it off was the smile on his face as devoured every bit of the slice. He couldn’t suppress his grinning. I’m going to try to find that place one day.

Through watching countless reviews , from the first bite reaction, to the crust, to Dave making genuine comments instead of going all comedic , I guessed 9.1 in my mind , it's like you could read his mind knowing it was a 9. He had a look that there might be an 8.9 but deff went well with the 9.1 , but deff a 4.6 for the autograph :) , Great Review !
Been waiting for the Prez to hit up Johnny's, as it's an institution and easily the best spot in Yonkers/Mt. Vernon/New Roc line. Never try to order a slice, and NEVER ask how much longer for the pie; you as the old man with the towel wrapped around his head like Mr. Miyagi (RIP; he's the one painted on the door) would kick you and your friends out and whoever raises their hand first gets the pie. Although I loved the Prez referring to Mt. Vernon as a 'Sleepy town in Westchester!' I wish he was able to go to Sue's Rendezvous after eating to help digest.. As a long time resident, I hope that gets picked up by the news and the real estate prices jump up!

After this review, the place blew up. It was always crowded with locals but then they were running out of dough....Which never happened. People were traveling from all over to try the pizza. They have since expanded. Pie quality I heard was more hit or miss at first, but I think they just needed to stabilize with all of the new business. The pizza is fantastic.
I had a pie here...it is still my number 1 pizza I have ever had and I been on a pizza pilgrimage for 10 years.Varassanos pizza page had it number one on his list as well
Been to Johnny’s. I ordered the plain cheese & sauce pizza. I heard from another pizza reviewer (Jeff Versano) not to order any toppings as is distracts from the purity of those simple but higher level ingredients. The other people I was with that ordered toppings wished they ordered the plain pizza - I had to guard mine. This pizza is mind blowingly great!
Now that you're visiting Westchester Country, please try Sal's in Mamaroneck. They're plain slice is amazng but they're really known for their Sicilian. I know that's not really your thing but please check it out. I live in Manhattan now but, no joke, my wife and I still travel to Westchester to specifically have this pizza. Near by, in New Rochelle, there are at least two other amazing pizzarias - Modern Pizzaria & Gemelli Pizzeria. Gemelli being my favorite of the two.

Locals know you only really need the Garlic pie with no extra toppings. It’s better than most other pizzeria pies with their best toppings.
