Coming from someone who has gone to Papa's with my family and has been served by Nick personally for decades, it is truly the best pizza I've ever eaten and the taste has remained consistent to this day. It opened in Chambersburg, Trenton or the "Burg", which is where Robbinsburg comes from, and it is definitely a bucket list place for any pizza lover. You can tell they have such pride and passion for their pizza and it shows.

i live about an hour from this place, but just tried it today because i had a job not too far from it in Trenton. It's definitely different than what i'm used to, the tomatoes are the star of the show of course, but the pie was exactly like he described, light and crispy and when u bite into it, it stays together and doesn't fall apart. I was a pig and ate it right in the parking lot like he does. It's delicious and i would recommend it strongly. Need to try DiLorenzo's too!
If you folks ever get a chance to go to Papa's I highly recommend trying their mustard pie too. Sounds weird but it's amazing. Plus their red cream soda on tap is great.

Living in California for 50 years, I can say that the best pizzas out here are like average pizzas back east. You guys have it good in that department.

I've had 3 different 9's (Difara, Sallys,Pizza Regina... as well has Halftime Pizza if you count that lol), and that second pizza he gave you looked equal to or better than any of them! The crunch was unreal!
I drive regularly from Maryland to New Hampshire and back with my wife to see our kids in College. We've picked off most all of Dave's top rated places, some multiple times. We just hit Papa's again (third time). Man, this place is ridiculously good. Thin, crispy, perfect cheese blend (guessing it's a blend). We always get one plain cheese, we've tried their Mustard Pie (don't knock it until you try it, good as hell), and this past time tried their "Italian Stallion" white pie, topped with sausage, broccoli rabe, and garlic. It was fantastic.
I've been to both places. Angelo's is legit awesome. So is Papa's. And so is DeLorenzo's (which should be reviewed shortly). The Trenton-style tomato pie is just a different style. I like DeLorenzo's the best.

I've been making pizza from scratch at home for 20 years, and there is no question that cooking a pizza VERY well-done, so the cheese is deeply brown, is the best. My go-to pizza place in Cincinnati ---- I request that they make it well-done, and it is so much better that way.
I really don’t like it that way. I want the cheese fully melted with orange/brown spots throughout… meaning it’s just starting to hit “well done”. Otherwise you lose the flavour of the cheese.

Grew up in Chambersburg, home of Papa's and DeLorenzo's(both of them). Papa's was always my favorite. All 3 are fantastic. I would recommend getting it extra crispy.
Saw big hearted Mike 3 nights ago. We said hello n happy New Year! New glasses. Mustard pie rocked as did the margarita. Manicotti dinner was out of this world with manicotti that tasted like the pasta was made in store. Meatball parm sandwich also was very good and don’t forget the bruschetta; like no other. 9.3 🍕
Papa's used to be in Chambersburg, NJ, which is where I used to get Papa's tomato pies. I prefer De Lorenzo's by a small margin, but Papa's was amazing. They both drizzle good olive oil on the pies, which makes them even better.
I love Brooklyn Boy’s Tomato Pies in Edison too. Maruca’s on the boardwalk in Asbury Park has good Tomato Pies too. It def needs to be hot and fresh out the oven. When I bring a tomato pie home it’s just not the same

Not sure if it’s fair to compare the Trenton tomato pies to regular pies , more sauce over cheese and better crisp. Some places have their regular pies and the tomato pies as separate menu items because it comes down to taste. I respect the score

I love Brooklyn Boy’s Tomato Pies in Edison too. Maruca’s on the boardwalk in Asbury Park has good Tomato Pies too. It def needs to be hot and fresh out the oven. When I bring a tomato pie home it’s just not the same
Wow usually when a place gives Dave another slice made “fresh” It’s right most of the time might drop the score. In this case the score went up. Way to roll the dice!

Not sure if it’s fair to compare the Trenton tomato pies to regular pies , more sauce over cheese and better crisp. Some places have their regular pies and the tomato pies as separate menu items because it comes down to taste. I respect the score
