The way the herd constantly shadows Khanyisa with the lion close by keeping her near them at all times is beautiful their level of love devotion and protection for little Meisekind is priceless. Elephants are amazing creatures who are so genuine and kind family is everything to them especially this incredible herd.❤️❤️🐘🐘
If only humans could smell predators! I didn't have a great childhood, so watching how loving they are with the youngins and even the injured, like Fishan, is so wonderful to see. It's watching love in motion🌻
The way the herd pulls together for the safety of the calf is so amazing they have such good souls I think that’s why I love them so much thank you for sharing with us
The interaction between Fishan and Mambo is very important! It establishes hierarchy and teaches the younger bulls about appropriate bull behavior. Without it, young bulls run amok. The interaction between the females and Khanyisa is the function of any cohesive herd. Putting the younger members in the middle, protecting them from threats or perceived threats helps to insure their safety and the continuity of the bloodline. It is especially remarkable here because the bond has been created by the elephants themselves instead of growing organically out of established blood relationships. It's beautiful and miraculous. It speaks to the loving and compassionate nature of elephants, and should be an example to us human beings!
What an incredible team of 🐘 and humans!!! They have a plan and they are sticking to it. The lion 🦁 had better stay away. The herd will not put up with the lions Shenanigans! 😁
Despite the fact elephants will chase the Impala, I believe they find a certain amount of safety in amongst our majestic gentle giants. I would not want to be on the herds radar:) I am humbled by the sheer deep love these elephants have for one another
When we visited HERD in July, we distinctly heard lions roaring loudly in the distance. They sounded close by! We guests asked the Carers what they do when the lions come near them and we were told that the bulls and other adult elephants wouldn’t allow any lions to get close to the herd or the humans. Even though the sounds of the lions were frightening, those words from Willington made me - a city girl from Brooklyn, NY, wholly unaccustomed to the sound of lions near me - feel comfortable. Go figure.
Have you ever had a real lion encounter? I'll never forget that video of Khanyisa, finding that she was all alone after Mambo wandered off. Her tiny little trumpets amassed the whole herd to come to her aid 🐘 💕
I always knew that the herd would protect the young ones but it's good to know they would protect the humans of their herd also. I love watching these videos about this amazing herd. You all do great work!!
This Herd of elephants never cease to amaze me. They have such a keen sense of smell. Such a family bond and How caring they are towards one another and keeping themselves as well as their human family. Khaynisa is always in a play mood when Timisa is around. Thank you for another insightful video.❤️🐘🐘🐘🐘🐘🐘🐘🐘🐘🐘🐘🐘🐘🐘🐘🐘❤️
It is exciting to learn how elephants navigate their surroundings. There is so much going on, that we neither see or hear. Thank you for sharing another life in the day of the herd.💝🐘🐘🐘🐘🐘💝
Brilliant filming today. I have been engrossed with the elephants and beautiful surroundings I naively didn't think once about lions or leopards.. you've done so very well feeding and caring for khanyisa she's putting on weight. I keep thinking of the last film with Jabulani protecting the HERD and then coming to check you were all OK too 💜💙💚💫
It's amazing to me how the elephants keep eating even while there is a threat. They seem rather calm as if to say, that lion knows better then to come near us! But we're ready even though we're snacking. Little Khanyisa is very brave to try walking around in that situation. But then again, she knows there's plenty of hugh protection if needed. ❤🐘🐘🐘🐘🐘🐘🐘🐘🐘🐘🐘🐘🐘🐘🐘🐘❤
So beautiful to watch the big herd protecting Khanyisa. This is true love, protection and sense of responsibility. On a side note, I’d like to ask whoever uploads your videos to not forget to put Captions ON. It helps a lot viewers not-English speakers. Have a great weekend, Herd friends. 💕🐘💕
How do I love thee... Let me count the ways. As usual, I am impressed by the way the elephants not only protect Khanyisa and Timisa, but also, you. AND, possibly peripherally, the Impala who always seem to be reasonably close by joining in Reindeer games with Mambo... 😁🥰
I love how the herd just care for each other so immensely, and everybody just rallies around little khanyisa, that's how family should be. Yeah those Impala look kinda nervous too.
The impala are bolder than I expected. They're relaxed not just by the elephants but the humans close by. And this bunch of elephants isn't too impala friendly.
The ellies carry that special bonding. Especially about babies. They just have something special all around. Family oriented for sure. Magnificent giants. Very intelligent as well. Love ellies. ❤️
I feel for the impalas. The elephants are alerted but the impalas are a more likely target. Scary! Luckily they can run like the wind. Silly Khanyisa wandering off in spite of the danger. I think if the herd had a higher level of agitation she would have responded differently. These are my elephant thoughts for today.😉❤️❤️❤️🇨🇦
So very beautiful to see the devotion of protection among the herd, especially with Khanyisa and younger elephants. Humans could certainly take some lessons from these amazing gentle giants! Sure love watching these🧡🥰🧡🐘🥰
Excellent footage + info. Loved that Fishan left his mark on Mambo. Way to go, Fish! Also enjoyed seeing the antelope at the end...Beautiful day in the reserve! TY for sharing! 🐘😍💞
Even the impala had their ears and heads up. Still odd to see the power towers in the background. Makes me think there is no true bush country any more. Always love watching this family. Never disappointed. 😍🇺🇸
I love that Khanyisa is so protected and that the elephants are so much bigger than the lions.❤️🐘. Mambo the rebellious teenager. I hope all plays out well in that regard.
Wow! That's a lot of impalas! Glad the Herd didn't come into contact with the big cat especially with little Miss being her usual independent self. I guess she doesn't feel worried as Mama Tokwe is right there with her 🥰 Hope Mambo's butt injury doesn't hurt too much, can't be easy finding his position in the Herd as he gets older, all part of life ❤️🐘❤️
Our brave little meisiekind, forging ahead of her adult family members! And 617 kilograms! Darling Khanyisa, what a success story you are thanks to HERD! 💛
What a sense of security the Herd elephants provide for both the young elephants and the human carers. Elephants have so much to offer to their own species and to humans as well.
Khanyisa is surrounded by safe in older females💕🐘🐘💕. Sebakwe is on the background, keep on eye of herd safe. I thinking, it is hard time in herd, young males afflict they´s hierarchy. Am i in right??🤔. Be in safe, Bless to you all💟🙏🐘💟.
I learn so much from these video's. I wish to thank you for taking the time to make and post these video's. Your an angel sent from heaven. God bless you. Stay safe, and alert among the Elephant's, they need you
Is it silly to wish for a world where there are no predators or prey? Knowing how anxious the elephants feel when a lion is near makes me anxious for them. I realize that is just the way things are, but, I wish it were not so. In the meantime, I am comforted to know they protect each other as best they can.
The herd has protected them before. The humans are considered part of the herd❤. There are so many videos where a stressful event occured and individual elephants would approach Adine or other carers to be assured that the humans were ok. The herd reacted quite strongly when they sensed an injury on Adine's knee. It somehow passed non-verbally to the rest and one by one they gathered around her.
From what I understand Tokwe took the roll upon herself and was accepted by the herd. Setombe would have been first choice but being a nervous elephant was not suitable. Not really sure how the herd figured it all out but it seems to work.❤️🇨🇦
I'm wondering if this was kind of like a yellow alert. Like they weren't in full on defense mode, but were being extremely wary so as not to be caught off guard. Because they aren't doing the full circle thing, and they continue to eat. I could, of course, be anthropomorphizing, or not seeing just how stressed they are ... It's fascinating though to think that they respond so specifically to levels of threat. Another example, imho, of their intelligence, which very much seems to rival, if not surpass humans. Certainly their emotional intelligence is higher than ours. They understand how stupid and harmful violence is. And the way they look after the babies and youngsters ... a lot of humans could learn from them. Thank you SOOOOOO much for sharing these intimate videos with us. You are enabling the herd to be ambassadors ❤️❤️❤️

So wonderful 💖
If only humans cared for each other the way these beautiful ellies do. 😍
Khanyisa sparring with her sister is so funny.
Doesn't leave her alone 😁so playful
Love when the adults protect the younger ones 💕🏴
It’s always so fascinating to watch these majestic elephants in the wild; though they’re protected; thank goodness for that. 💕🐘💕🐘💕
If only humans could smell predators! I didn't have a great childhood, so watching how loving they are with the youngins and even the injured, like Fishan, is so wonderful to see. It's watching love in motion🌻
yep, soak it up. God bless 😀
Trump is a predator!!!😁
"Love in motion," sums up the elephants beautifully.
Yes. It makes us feel safe, just watching them!
The way the herd pulls together for the safety of the calf is so amazing they have such good souls I think that’s why I love them so much thank you for sharing with us
I agree completely! These elephants could teach many humans how to work together and protect their youngsters!
Most animals will protect their offspring.

Family protection and closing ranks is always so impressive.
The love they share among themselves and their human relatives is so beautiful, brought me to tears.

I would think a lone lion would be suicidal getting too close to a herd of ellies.

I love the way elephants look after the babies so much 🥰 they are the best

What help does the caregiver have with them, if there is lion danger?
What a sense of security the Herd elephants provide for both the young elephants and the human carers. Elephants have so much to offer to their own species and to humans as well.
Poor Mambo. Hope he heals.

In the African bush observing the elephants behavior would my first go to vanguard for approaching danger.

If a lion did get too close to the herd, what would the human herd do?
They also get protection from the herd 🏴
Si tantissima protezione, gli elefanti di Herd non permetteranno mai ad un unico leone di avvicinarsi ai loro salvatori carer Adine e figli.

No it’s not silly at all it’s a natural caring feeling of empathy concern for the elephants, I too wish that there were no predators.
She's getting so big :)

I can remember when the baby was about 300 lbs
Does Mambo's wound need to be treated? Sabakwe doesn't look like he is to be annoyed much less challenged.
