  • Thanks for joining me for Tackle Tip Tuesdays.
    Todays tackle tip we'll be making a Sand Flea Rake (Sand Turtle) for under $20!
    As a child we used to use a red flimsy scoop net to try and catch these Sand Turtles or Sand Fleas. It was so difficult for us to sift the sand through the eyes of the scoop net. Especially when the net gets full of sand. The weight of the wet sand would bend our net loop. I hope by showing you these quick and simple steps, you can get to catching bait a lot easier and effectively. Good luck and Happy fishing!!! If you have a tackle tip idea you want me to cover. Leave a message on the comments below. I'd love to hear from you. 😍
    Aloha, Pokeman

    I am so grateful to you my good friend for doing this video. I had already concluded that a garden rake was the answer for longevity and reach but I lacked the basket part until seeing this video. Your idea on using hardware cloth was brilliant. I happen to have everything in my shop to do this project and I'm heading out to the beach next week for fishing, mahalo.

    Like your idea very much...assuming you double over all of the material where connected making it stronger, one thing you might consider next...remove the rake head from the handle heat up where it attaches to the handle bending the rake portion downward this will give you a better angle 😉

      Great idea buddy. Yes I actually bend it over to get that angle as well to also create a larger entry. Love the heating idea, it’ll make the bending easier. Thank you 😊

    Is there any benefit to the forks sticking out verses point in?
    I saw a video of a guy that had it opposite.
    In my thinking out would help but I have no video showing it in use like yours.
    Thanks.

    You the man brother Jay. Gonna try getting sand turtles one-day with your contraption. Love the idea... maybe do the next episode on how you hook a sand turtle for bait. I tried using sand turtle but it never did work for me...idk maybe not hooking it right or just shit out of luck. Lol... maybe you can hook me up at the harbor one-day.

      Try by crushing some and using it as Palu. I normally throw my line closer than normal. Kinda like using Oama for bait. Cast it just outside the shore break. Right where their feeding. Good luck!

    Thank you for sharing your idea! Wouldn't the wire mesh flex or sag while full of sand?

    • @pokemanfishingadventuresha4108
      @pokemanfishingadventuresha4108  4 роки тому +1

      It actually holds up perfect! No signs of it sagging at all. My kids bang it around so much that I just notice it bending the mesh from time to time. I just straighten it up. hope that helps. thank for stooping by. Aloha
