"He was not lucky".... he came from a wrestling family that started his career smoothly compared to those who would never get that. He was lucky. AND he worked hard to continue his streak by being a hard worker. Everyone is lucky to some degree. It depends whether you embrace your luck or let it slip by.
Exactly. Some of us were fortunate to be born into a post office mail sorter family…oh wait.

He got accepted to a football program after only 2 years, he was immediately pushed forward in the WWE, and he was in the Guinness world book of records for the highest salary for a debut actor. He was accepted by every industry, he just almost failed in every industry and learned to reinvent himself. Which is equally as impressive as just sheer determination. The ability to identify what isn't working and focus on your strengths
tru dat
well tbh he was accepted to the program purely just of how good he was and how hard hè worked, and he was pushed forward to the wwe because of his likability, its true that he almost failed in basically everything but u cant just blame his chances on pure luck

He's friends with Oprah. Both of them begging the masses for money to help the people in Lahina. He sold his soul a long time ago.
And congratulations to that high school football coach who looked at that 6’4” 16-year-old descended from a family of Samoan wrestlers and saw something that nobody else did
My friends and I ran into him at Disney years ago, he was already a major star at the time. My friends wife was pregnant and he nearly walked right into her outside of the bathrooms, he apologized, noticed she was pregnant and asked how far along she was, then he told her congrats and moved on, super nice guy.

@@ibrahimsyal um, okay… 🤣
I think the fear of the instability he had during his childhood is what drives him, not necessarily ego. When you grow up in poverty, moving from place to place, like so many do, you'll do whatever it takes to survive. I think he's honestly just concerned about returning to nothing, and now he also has the burden of a production company which means he's worried about keeping the money rolling in. Despite Black Adam being an absolute trash heap, I hope he continues to find success. My earliest and fondest memories of him were in the ring, it's nice to see him still getting work (and creating work, essentially).
His father is rich pro wrestler and his mother also rich. This story he was poor with is fake.
@@TheVindein not exactly.

@@fukunaga-kane It's a brand bro nothing personal.
The Rock is definitely one of the hardest working folks in the Hollywood, but Black Adam proved why he shouldn't be involved in movies beyond just being one of the actors.
Yeah I thought the same thing watching the film
I love this man, he had a great career and probably the closest thing to Arnold, I admire both these guys, but idk black adam was looking like a ego thing, he never looks this black adam he just looks like The Rock doing a cosplay, could have at least have hair and pointy ears to make character more alive, beside the bad movie, the look he had at the end of the movie was a treat
The problem with Dwayne Johnson is besides him being a douche as of late is there’s no film he has that’s GREAT that only he could star in Sylvester Stallone has Rocky and Rambo Kurt Russell has a couple Arnold has Conan terminator AND predator even the much less talented vin diesel has pitch black but the rock doesn’t have shit he had either okay films or bad films he needs to ditch his Gary Stu brand and make a good movie (& not try to piggyback off a established franchise)

WWE be petty. Sort of. Pat used WrestleMania footage i believe. That's bread & butter right there. WWE have been able to prove mere seconds are substantial content to warrant such strikes.
As an insider in pro wrestling I'm torn becuase i understand how in theory at least it can take away WWE's money stream but usually there aren't many ways they can BUT THEN AGAIN *WWE STUDIOS* PROSUCES TONS OF DOCUMENTARIES LIKE PATRICKS (LONG BEFORE HE WAS BORN EVEN) so yeah.
WWE strikes aren't normally on so much BS like say...UMG...they just do a lot of them because, for example: some WrestleMania matches are SECONDS. Which can be sold individually or apart of collections seperate from the WrestleMania event. That's their little excuse summed up, usually.
I support Patrick Cc absolutely however. Just explaining things.

The Rock’s time in the WWF/WWE is the most instrumental influence on his acting career. His job for over a decade in the WWE was to entertain the same audience of millions with the same character and catchphrases. By doing this, he realized that audiences respond the most to products that are consistent and familiar. This idea has undoubtedly translated to his acting career for better and for worse.
I think the reason The Rock is in so profitable isn't because the movies are necessarily good, it's because you know what you're getting every time, it usually won't disappoint you, definitely won't blow you away, it just does the trick when you want to watch a movie.
Edit: I also think one of the main reasons he wants to call the shots on set and has his beef with Tyrese and Vin Diesel is because of his steroid use (he always denies this claim but anyone with a brain knows you dont put muscle mass on the way he *still* does at his age.
If he uses steroids, it’s not their business though, unless they genuinely care about his health.
@@kiv_daniels it is people's business when you say you're not using juice and tell people they can get your physique naturally.
Yep, when most movies on cinemas nowadays demand you either know a decade of shared universe, eternal remakes/reboots or partake into complex philosophical ideas stuff like Fast and Furious or John Wick are pure entertainment and what deep down people want to see going to theaters. He knows it and made a fortunate from exploring this mid range market.
@@6izzy837 So vin and tyrese have a fight with the rock because they wanted the rock to come clean with the public? Doesn’t make sense, it will only hurt the fast franchise.
@@ernestyunardi7454 no because steroids make you egotistical, controlling and angry. Those are some of the side effects
I know The Rock has a good business plan to basically have a movie prepared for him as soon as he's done with the previous film, but he should try to challenge himself a little with some better roles. That would be so strange to see The Rock in an A24 film like Beau is Afraid but I'd see it.
It would be somewhat good for him. He would see him in a better light and wouldn’t experience actor image burnout.
Jim Carey did well in 23. But idk. It almost didn’t stick or carry him apart from 23 & the Trueman Show.
Now he seems like a weirdo who is into some weird stuff.
I enjoy his truth telling but he isn’t shown in an optimistic light as much as he used to.
He did some relatively auteur stuff early on.

Getting the bid for cookie cutter films is sort of the opposite approach to being a bigger Will Smith
If that philosophy were true, every set Will produced would have just been a different take on the fresh prince. That man was able to populate his acting range. And I'm not going to sit here and tell you every product was a smash hit, but beating on his craft made it so directors wanted him to kick off their vision
Dwayne's success seems to stem from having the commune strong. Ergo he won't take a role unless it pads him for the brand
With that approach he can't be like Vin Diesel, a guy who goes from A man apart, to XXX, to the Pacifier. One out of three can he actually eat off of, but dammit if those films aren't memorable. Which is not bad for a dude you can hardly understand
Gotta give him credit. Say what you will about his ego and his acting ability, but the dudes work ethic is second to none. You pretty much know what you're gonna get with a movie starring The Rock. To me, he's a throwback to 80s action movies, for better or worse
There's actually a more recent controversy regarding him and oprah, i kind of see him in a different light now.

Same, the Rock is absolutely solid in his work ethic it seems
The video overstates the difficulty Rock had with his movie career. He just wanted to be at the tippy top of Hollywood, that's the only context where calling his journey a 'struggle' makes sense.

Unfortunately, he died maybe 15 years ago or so. Definitely one of my favorite teachers back then.
Bold of you to explain that the Rock was born into wrestling, being part of the Samoans AND Rocky Johnson's son, and how his name carried him through wrestling education and jobbing at a much faster pace than a no-name wrestler, and then say he built his empire from the ground up, from nothing.
Fair but he did take it and ran with it. Many wrestlers have tried to make the transition into Hollywood and failed.
Another thing, why *didn't* Johnson's Samoan cousins go for more if they had a nepotism ties to wrestling? Why didn't they make the transition? They were already in, why didn't they do it?
Idk the reason but there's gotta be a reason Dwayne Johnson broke through.

Tha Rock!! thank you Pat.
I think it was SUPER smart of him to decide on the roles he wanted to play, aiming for a promise for his audience, that they would know what they'd get and enjoy it. A lot of actors are dedicated to the craft, but not necessarily developing that close relationship with an audience. Like a lot of times, if actors become known for one thing, they have to try to "break out" and play something extremely different so they don't get "stuck," while many audiences really don't have that feeling towards actors and just want to enjoy actors play characters they know they'll get invested in. It's why people would go see a "Tom Hanks" movie or a "Will Smith" movie for so long. They knew what they'd get, and that's what they wanted to see. It's really smart to look at things from the viewers' POV like that. Most movie watchers just want a little break from their lives, they aren't all in it for the experimental, or dark, or artistic stuff. They just want some fun.
Problem is, Black adam require he should break that mold and go a little darker because black adam is well...a darker chararter. In a way he break his own rule.

@@ervinlima9678 you are ignoring the fact that has was born in to a career that gave his father nothing yet still came on top. If he was rich he would have studied for a successful career. You're just a sad little man who can't realize that others born in worse conditions then you actually made a name for themselves
Man this guys videos are great. Sad that the original got taken down
He plays the same character every movie too 😂😂
Very good and infomercial video👍i really enjoyed it
I knew him from Wrestling and its inspiring to see him work so hard to get to where he is. I hope, he chooses to challenge himself later and doesn't get prideful.
I watched the original. I'm not gonna watch it again, but I love your content. I wanted to drop back in to leave a like and a comment praising your work. You're the man.

Dwayne is the DREAM actor to work with . The crew can easily work 80+ hrs in a week, nothing makes that time drag worse than a diva on set. Especially in my position (start as the lowest paid, end up being highest paid) it just makes a hard job that much easier with people like him around. Kerry Washington is really nice as well, she is even nice to the background actors when a lot of the crew gives them shit. Love that you highlighted that.
Pat CC got crazy consistency getting this back up 👏
Damn man so many amazing memories ..the 90s was the greatest Decade ever to be a kid and the WWF is one of the reasons why..my uncle got me into wrestling(both real and scripted) and I used to love watching it with him in the 90s and playing all the great games..92-2001 is the golden age of wwF(it'll always be wwF for me,i still call it that to this day) for me and while Undertaker has my number 1 spot..the Rock is either second or no lower than 3rd..it's a trip seeing how far he's come but no matter what he does I always love it.. he's one of the greats in pretty much anything he takes part in and I'm hoping for The Rock 2028..thanx for the video bruh as always effortlessly dope
Great research great video. U doing ur thang i give it to u
He was definitely lucky. Pretty much all success depends on getting lucky to some degree. The key is working hard enough to be prepared to take advantage of your lucky opportunities when they present themselves. For a majority of people, their “lucky opportunities” pass us by without us seizing them, often without us even recognizing the opportunity for what it is. Success is where hard work, preparation and luck meet each other.
I think it's cool you provided a nuanced take on it as opposed to "Rock have big ego, Rock bad" that I've heard from other people
I love your videos, Patrick- consistently great work!
Much respect to Rob, I was hooked to Him Rob and Big and Ridiculousness! Good for him, he seems very organic on both shows.
