Almost traded based on secondary valuation for one of these but glad it hasn’t been agreed yet. Every 13th I’ve had other than their $50 shelfer was high age so I assumed this would be too. That color difference is STARK
Yeah I made that wrong assumption as well that all their cask offerings were older but for now that’s just the picks this first “shelfer” if you will is certainly not old fairly young. disappointing really when you consider they only released 7k bottles of it sure that’s double the double oak release qty and a lot more than the picks they have been doing but you think for that young they could have released greater numbers so they were actually shelf available
Great review. Appreciate you looking out for our wallets. I've tried two shelfers (samples) from them and was not impressed. This seems like one of those distilleries where only special releases or select picks are going to be worth it. That doesn't impress me. There are newer distilleries, such as Sagamore, where you can trust both the shelfers and special releases. Those are the ones I want to support.
Yeah I agree there limited offerings are great but what they are putting out as cask and shelters are just okay and in some cases a little overpriced. Agree too that the model of perfection is sagamore their shelf bottles are killer and their special releases are amazing and they don’t break the bank on either

All feelings here are what I’ve been feeling with the Lux Row Double Single Barrel. Jumped on it, sounded great, but was a fairly big let down for $90
Yeah I skipped that too for what I expected would be a let down. That felt like a cash grab because they used the same bottle and similar name to their expensive 12yr option
Love your honesty. I was probably dumb but grabbed one at 110 and 125. Opened one and it to be hot and flavorful. I do hope it opens up. The double oaked and 15 were both very hot but delicious.
I mean those prices are not much above msrp so don’t blame you there but yeah these new young cask strengths from
Them are not the same caliber as the double oak or the 15th anniversary bottle
@@bourbonbill sadly it had no age statement I believe figured 7 to 8 for that price. Sadly it is lower.
@@durzagon88yeah when I first heard about it I also assumed probably 7-8 and was shocked when they said 5-6

Great review! I’ve only had the shelf versions of the 13th Colony. Pretty good, just not special.
Yep I think the picks can be special and the double oak but these 5-6yr offerings even at cask are nothing special

Good but nothing special, not worth the price at msrp. I got one at cost around 65$ from a local shop. Not mad at that price. Need to find some older age picks.
Absolutely agree. The older age picks are fire but this regular young cask strength was over priced
