I had a polish silver-laced hen named Silkie. She walked out of a field behind my house one day and we took her in. She was a very sweet bird, she flew over the fence one day and the neighbor's dog got her. It was a sad day.
We love our silver laced girl and already want a copper laced one. We started this year with a mixed flock, 1 of each. Polish, Copper Morans, Sapphire Olivegger, & Barred Rock. We did trim her feathers so she could see, now she has a foreseeable future bad haircut. LOL
I have three polish hens of my own I just got two yesterday day and the other one was about one or two weeks old but we put her with our other buff Orpington,Americana,lavender Orpington,and cream lake bars.
My buff laced bearded hen turned out to be a rooster. His legs are slate blue. He was hatched in mid October and raised inside until about sixteen weeks. That’s when he started crowing. He is now a father of six with two COLUMBIAN Wyandotte hens. He also attacks me relentlessly.
How do people keep them in the states ? do they mix and match crested and bearded varieties of polish ? In Europe the bearded variety and the non bearded ones are two different breeds. In Norway f.eks we call the bearded ones the Paduan and the crested ones the Crested Holland
Polish chickens are literally the best and love spending time with human if gotten as a baby DO NOT GET SILKIES IVE BOUGHT 12 FROM 3 DIFFERENT BREEDERS AND EVERYONE WAS NOT NICE LOL

You didn't live the link for the Polish Breeders Club. I looked it up, and it looks as the only thing they sale is the membership.
I've got a golden polish, are the feather around the eyes safe to clean up? Or should I be careful how closely they get trimmed?
