The ones i got was not egg machines . over 20 if 24 just always went broody . i turned them into soup and got golden comets for much better production .
@@AgricultureAcademy bought 10 australorp chicks,7 lived and I ended up building them their own henhouse and run. Both they and my other 3 hens are all doing fine. Counting down till I get some eggs from the australorps. I e been getting about 10 eggs a week from my other 3,but have no idea what breeds they're mixed with or even how old they are. My grandkids take turns helping with the chicken chores learning about animals, life, and the rewards of hard work.
@@kountryboy6653 Nice mix!! Wish I could have more than just 5 hens in this town. I finally have 3 layers at almost 30 weeks! Geesh I thought they'd be laying sooner lol. Best of luck with your flock!!! 👍😁
I'm small farmer in Pakistan I have work australorp& rhode Island red breeds. Free range and dual purpose chicken breed Rhode Island red and best. Good Eggs size and meet purposes.
On one of the Hairy Bikers food programs, they found a bread of chicken that had a very large yolk much larger than normal. Does anyone know what bread that chicken was???
I bought 4 Australorp Pullets,8 Buff Orpington Pullets,13 Cornish Cross Meat Birds on July 3rd 2021. They all live, run, play, eat, roam together Free Range Style and believe it or not they all do well together considering the meat birds look more like the size of a large Thanksgiving Turkey at this age but, we should be receiving eggs in the next few weeks. The Buff Orpington Pullets were all considered "Rare" they sure are extremely Beautiful and very colorful and 2 of them have what looks like "Mohawks" on their heads! If we can keep all the predators away then we'll be great shape. Considering they've already been attacked by a Chickenhawk, a Fox, a Coyote in a 2 week time span. Sincerely: Stephens Motorsports
How much is one day chick and fertilized egg. Am in Uganda can deriver for me when I make an order for either fertilized eggs or chicks of Australorp? Thanks
The meat is supposed to taste like beef. They lay about maybe 100 eggs per year so not the best choice for egg production. I’d keep regular ducks for egg production and muscovies for meat production
My Roo, A beautiful Australorp named Pecker is a big tough boy who will defend the hens with his life and has no qualms about teaching our neighbor’s dog who’s boss if he goes after a hen.
My Australorp is more assertive than my barred rock. Actually she's more assertive than my Rhode islands and copper marans as well. I think aggression just depends on the actual chicken sometimes.
Hi, do you want to read the Gospel? John 3:16 “ for God so loved the world He gave Hid one and only begotten Son, so that whosoever believes in Him shall not perish but have eternal life”
So true...and some of.the confined commercial layers in the videos were horribly crowded. I wish people who do that to chickens would have it done to them and see what it feels like.
This is at least the third video where I have seen comments about these chickens being very friendly and make great pets that makes me laugh. I have a taller one and a shorter one and both of them like to bully my three new chickens especially the short one. They do not like to be picked up they will make you chase them. Do not put baby chickens near them they will mess with them.
You can never add young chickens to any older flock. The older hens will bully and peck them. They have to be mixed slowly in proximity but with separation, including the first introduction being the roost. For some reason, hens that roost beside new hens, after the proper proximity with separation, acclimate with less brutality.
Its important to show the Australorp when you describe them.... You showed another breed hen closeup and it was no Australorp. All AO have Dark brown almost black eyecolour..
Orpingtons are very nice, and I have a bunch of them in a variety of colors, but egg production isn't something they are known for. I have australorps and they are much better layers than my english orpingtons. I have crossed them and the babies are very nice, but it takes a few generations to get back to the high production of an australorp
You can cross them. They can make a nice bird to eat since they’ll be bigger than the australorps. Color wise they will be kind of odd. The buff color will show in patches on the black but that can be kind of interesting.
This breed is available in pakistan. No need to import and pay high shipment/cargo charges. A lot of people are selling it too. Behtar hoga k ap jaha se bhi purchase kren khud ja k us farm pe pehle check kren. Aur jab apki 100% tasali ho tou phir purchase kren kyo 2 numberi bhi bhot hy. I have 8 of these. I purchased 1 month old chicks and they are alhumdullilah 3 months old now. I didn't check their weight but they are very healthy, big and active breed ma sha Allah.
I don't know where you are getting your information from but you are giving anyone watching this video a bum steer... Australorp's are well know as a very broody breed, why do you think that Australian egg farms won't use them anymore, add to this they are a jealous breed that only lay 3-4, "medium" eggs per week as the commercial strains are virtually non-existent these days. Australorp's are not a good breed for the novice beginner like everyone on the internet keeps saying, I have met experienced chicken keepers that are sorry that they got Australorp's and chicken breeders that won't even keep the things on their property so a novice will be at their whits end with these birds. If you enjoy having your nesting boxes filled up with broody chooks while the others are making a fuss trying to get into a nesting box and having them constantly picking on any bird that won't stand up to them and having them getting into fight's with a higher pecking order bird because they got jealous of something, then go for it get some Australorp's otherwise there are a lot of better breeds out there.

very nice

Great idea!
There are actually some other breeds which also lay up to 250 per year and some even lay more.
