I live in Canada. I had a brand new 2014 C63 507 for 5 years. I also had a couple corvettes and other performance cars. The corvettes were fun to install cams/heads/headers tunes etc on and the results were always fun but I could have never dreamed modding the C63. It was so good from factory it would have pained me to bolt aftermarket parts to it.
I took a 2018 C63 biturbo into the Merc dealer under a warranty claim for leaking intercooler fluid. They admitted firstly that they did not know where to start and that they may have to take the engine out to reach the intercooler.🤷🏻♂️🙄
Love watching the videos Sam, who knew that watching people working on cars could actually be interesting. Agree re the annoying music though. Keep up the good work...and the laconic (look it up !) humour.
That was a pig of a job, so well done you, in spite of a sniffle. Takes more than that to keep a good man down! I had a lovely 350 SLK once when I lived in Manchester. Should have brought it to you! 🤓
Really like your videos love it when you say you're not maintaining a £5000 car you are maintaining a £50 -£60 thousand car ! I know 2 clk s and a w203 coupe to maintain and keep them driving as they should 😊
Lucky yer man isn't in Australia. Cat delete can net you a massive fine - plus the installer (who will give disclaimer - only to be used off road). Not only a fine but a risk of having car seized. Alteration to any suspension on a car with modern "safety aids" - ABS. Agility control etc etc requires an engineers certifciate. Oversize wheels and tyres etc etc. Not only a legal risk but your vehicle's insurance becomes void.
Modifying a vehicle which contravenes the strict Australian design rules renders it not roadworthy, not registered, not insured and will negate your finance agreement. Many guys are driving vehicles in this category. They don't find out the consequences usually until involved in an accident. Even if you have a crash which you are not to blame, your insurance is void and you are also required to pay the other parties repairs - out of your own pocket. An assessor will inform the insurance company who will inform the legal authorities. God help you if you've been involved in a fatality. Friend of mine had a Mercedes wrecking yard. He always has a number of vehicles he's picked up from insurance companies or finance companies where the vehicle for some reason was should not have been on the road. Here's a corollary. : A group of 10 - 14 outback 4WD enthusiasts were making the South North trip through central Australia. They had a various bunch of off-road vehicles which were allegedly suitable for the long harsh condition journey. Many had modified their vehicle with bull bar's, tow bar's, winches, roof carriers, extra tyres, extra jerry cans of fuel and camping equipment. One evening one of the vehicles ran over and killed a sleeping indignant person who was laying on the track. The police arrived to clear up the scene. The offending vehicle was a monocoque chassis which had been modified with a large roof rack and was carrying a near estimated 400 kilos on the rack. The roof legal limit was 100 kilos. The bullbar, winch and roof load were in excess of the gross load for the vehicle - without driver, passengers and camping gear. The policeman informed the driver that his vehicle exceeded design limits, therefore was not road worthy which meant he was driving illegally. Further - worse case he could be charged with manslaughter. The other vehicles I the convoy were inspected and nearly all were found to be overloaded. A truck had to be called from 400 kilometres away to offload the convoys over weight. Lots of tickets issued.@@sprautos

@@lezivanerrol3697 mods are fine on cars man, don't portray them as something negative. road legal mods are a thing too, these often carry a TÜV certificate, this lets you pass inspection safely and insurance isnt void as long as you tell them.
What's the idea with putting it back to stock? Doesn't it command a higher price modded or people don't want to buy a ragged on modded motor? Must be costly to unmod it.
@@sprautos Couldn't agree more! I have one and I see so many of these with a bunch of tasteless mods, side skirts, spoiler lips, ridiculous big fin diffusers, those stupid overly sculpted after market steering wheels, everything blacked out including the lights and of course the full ali express treatment when it comes to carbon pieces. Yet, nothing takes my breath away like when I see one that's (nearly) untouched, a time capsule that looked like it rolled fresh out of a 2011 showroom, a symbol of the end of an era when everything just made a little more sense than today.
I'm not in for modifying. Not at all. Our daily drivers are Toyotas (new every three years), but I have a little sideshow with Lexus's. Mine is kept as original, as it was when it left the factory in Japan. That's what I like.
I think it is in Germany. I agree that having a stupidly loud exhaust is...well...stupid but I don't want any more laws and regulations (though it's bound to happen, it's what government does isn't it ?)
Sound, power (at the expense of wear), and aesthetics, probably, though I don't get the carbon fiber and lowered aesthetic either. Maybe lowered suspension offers a tiny bit better track handling, but it's already an amg.
But was it any better once they'd spent a fortune on it? Especially as all they seem to do with this kind of car is make a noise on the A6 through Stockport or the A57 through Denton.
😂 well your not the only one! We do plenty for other garages. Many require the genuine tools to do they need compressing that much. Keep up the good work mate
It could have been worse. In the states, many owners of this car would have squeezed in a Corvette engine, cutting away the firewall if it didn’t quite fit. Your customer should have bought you an expensive dinner for all you had to go through.
Nice too see OEM stuff going back on. Can't stand lowered suspension and annoyingly loud illegal exhausts, it's a breach of my peace 🤬 The DVLA are closing in on this nonsense and not before time. Keep stuff like that for the race track ⚠️

Just shows what a folly modifying is. Pay a load of money for the parts and more money to get them fitted only to pay yet more money for someone else to take them off only to be left with components worth a fraction of what they cost in the first place. Just a punt but I’m guessing the owners name is Mohammed...
good stuff. you could leave the music out for better viewer experience.

Yes agree, music was distracting.
Your humour, stoicism, honesty, skills and info are a joy to watch and listen to. Never stop.

So glad you don't use the background music anymore.
Me too 🙌
I can hear some
Always wanted to get my cl500 done with these guys but can never get a slot. Their conscientious ethos is what I like. Maybe one day!

I'd be interested to hear from the client on how much the drive changed from having the mods and then going back to factory.

I like my cars as it came from the factory, all the right parts are available, and no guess work. Doing this is all fine if it's strictly a track car.
It's only very rarely you see a mod that improves anything. My stainless system qualifies, I think, because it's not loud and looks nicer.
That exhaust noise is an affront to the brand.
It's dreadful. So tasteless.

Makes you wonder who was putting the bent MOT on it ? No wonder the number plate was hidden.
Good job man 👌👍
This is one of those jobs where half way through you say - Why the fuck did i take on this job ? 🤣
you are spot on there mate, I think my face says it all doing those headers. 😂
I modified my bmw 650 with Eibach and Bilstein shocks and dampers….instant regret!
Exhaust hacked….instant regret😅 lesson learnt…leave well alone!
Great 👍 I think it was as busy as that C63 exhaust 😂
To get the headers off, you need a finger 4ft long with an eye on the end 😂

Why not clean the Parts before?
Best work done ! More videos please ❤

Agreed 👍 i dont know what we were thinking at the time. Just experimenting I suppose. We’re learning.
could've at least cleaned the struts before putting them back on.
Yes , good content, we dont like the music, no need for it.
Modifying, is such a waste of ones money. Just leave the MB factory standard and enjoy. After all it is a street driven car, NOT race car.

the music doesn't add anything.
