Hello and thanks for the video ! Just a quick question please : on iracing, graphics settings, "Max prerendered frames" is by default to "off" and i can't update this setting. I have a GeForce RTX 2080 super. Do you now how i can update this ? Thanks for you help !
If you set Low Latency Mode to OFF you allow the game to pre-render frames. Is that really optimal for a game where it's all about knowing exactly where you are on the track?
This did help me! I do notice tho I do drop to about 50 fps for a short amount of time and then go back up to 90. I don’t have a super powerful computer. Any tricks or tips to get it a constant 90?
Great video but I do have a question. I have triple Samsung Odyssey G7 monitors which have a 240hz refresh rate but in the the graphic menu the fps setting only goes to 180.... Do I shift it to 240 in the .ini file or do I just leave it at 180?
I was talking about the dynamic LOD FPS counter, only goes to 180 and then edits itself down to 160. Should I run it at zero then? Sorry if this is a dumb question, new to iracing and still trying to get my head around it
Very helpful, thank you! But I didn't see where you went back to the graphics tab and told us information about the two sliders for Max GPU video memory and Max system memory. Or was that what was involved in physically editing the .ini files later in the video? Also being over a year later, did they ever increase the MaxWorkingSetMB_64Bit or VidMemMB numbers? Mine were set to 12112 and 3686 respectively. Thanks!
8192 was the max that iRacing would use no matter how high you set them unless they have changed that recently or will in the future. The sliders should be next to the Done button on the graphics tab in the settings. You see it in the video in that section thats timestamped
Great Guide. Only thing I noticed was it had me running at 350 plus on the FPS. My monitor will only do 144 so had to select limit FPS. Other than that the game looks great! Thanks
Hello beenCrazy , subbed. Great video good In depth information. Do you know , does iracing currently make use of Sli / Nvlink ? I'm running a Hp reverb G2 90hz With (2) 2080ti, I read somewhere to turn off sli for iracing Vr that it doesn't make use and causes input lag ?? Thanks
Great tutorial man!! One question for me please…in my case, I’ve an intel 10900k with 20 thread, so for me in task I put 10?? Is there a limit of 8 or can I put 10? Thank you very much.
I don’t know what’s happened But before I was hitting 90fps all the time Now it’s dropping to 50 then coming back up to 90 then dropping down Any ideas
Does it happen at a certain place on the track? If it has more objects to draw, try increasing the minimum LOD from 100 to 200 and see if that helps. Do note that it could cause objects to start popping in and out
@@frasergeraghty1617 Sorry it didn't work, I would try to revert the nvidia control settings first and see if it improves, then if it doesn't work revert the game settings as well
Very nice setting tutorial, quick & to the points. I assume any settings that you did for Rift also apply on Quest, right? Also, you set the VidMemMB to 8192, is that okay to set on a graphics card that has 8gigs of memory total? i.e. im running a gtx 2070 with 8GB GDDR6 memory and wondering if it will not start throttling or something if i set the limit to the very max
Yep, these settings should work great for all headsets. As of now, 8192 is the max iRacing setting and in practice I haven't experienced any crashing problems with graphics card that have less then that
Can you address the issue of users losing a lot of FPS after dialing in your settings? I've had to uninstall iRacing, delete it's x86 file, globally reset the Nvidia Control Panel to default, and still my FPS have gone from a stable 89/90 FPS down to sub 40's after these settings tweaks. .
If possible, when you uninstall and reinstall, see if the iRacing folder stays in the document folder. If so, delete that folder as well and reinstall. These settings are supposed to be lighter on your PC then the default settings so I don't know why it is hitting your frames this hard. I also recommend playing around with the LOD settings which I went to more detail in the description. Higher the LOD, better your frames will be.
I may have just completely broken my FPS. Whatever I do, no matter what I do, I am stuck barely above 20 FPS, sometimes as low as 10. This frame rate struggle has only started for me recently and every time I try to fix it it only gets worse.
In your situation, use the performance bars that you can enable in the options or the f key in the game and see if your cpu or your graphics card is getting hit harder. If it's your cpu, try closing programs running in the background. iRacing is more cpu bound than gpu bound. For the graphics card, try increasing the numbers in the LOD fields
Looking back into the sources (at the bottom of the description), I couldn't find an explanation. My guess is because we make the change in the graphics card, doing in the game will add to what we did. This would be bad due to increasing the time the frames reach your headset causing a delay (even a small delay in VR can cause headaches and nausea so keeping it as low as we can will reduce this, especially if you participate in races that last hours)
They should, as long as your pc is powerful enough. If not, try lowering some of the graphic options and raise the lod amounts to reach the 90 frames to match the 90hz refresh rate
Hi Ben! I keep having massive stuttering, even with this changes. I’ve tried multiple times to find an answer with iRacing support, but they just keep telling me to lower my frame rates🙄. Could you please help me!? Please!🙏🏼

The LOD (level of detail) setting is what frames have to drop down to for iRacing to start lowering the quality to try to maintain frame rate. Why would you set this to one frame ABOVE your screens max frame rate. That doesn't make sense. I have 120hz screens and let the LOD drop setting to kickin at 60. Never usually actually drops that low so my detail setting stay high. Am I missing something?
LOD in iRacing works in both ways in lowering the quality if it reaches the target and raising it based on the targeted FPS you set it to. Setting it at 1 above the refresh rate makes sure that you will hit that framerate (bounces between 120 and 121 when set to 121 or bounces between 119 and 120 when set to 120. Honestly not the biggest deal on a monitor but is in VR when you are trying to hit a steady 90hz it is). The Min and Max settings tells iracing what to do when it drops below or above the target fps you enter in. So for the video example, when my frames are above 121, it goes off of the min setting (25) but when it goes below it reads the max (400) to try to maintain the 121 frames. Then you get into the nitty gritty of lowering the max to 200 or 100 or 75 because it really doesnt need to drop that much in quality to hit that framerate and then you realize 3 hours have passed. LOD is the most challenging setting in iRacing to nail down. The video gives a nice baseline to start with but I highly suggest tuning the max to your computers specs or your taste.
