Mike. Just touch up the stone chips. If you respray the bumper, it will chip even more every time a stone hits it. I did this and that is exactly what happened.
agree
He's getting it rewrapped after the repaint, which will protect it from rocks
Remember that new paint needs 2-3 weeks to fully cure before you re-wrap it. Don't drive it during that time or you'll end up having to repaint it all over again. Bite the bullet and just drive the truck for that period. At least you have more than one car!
1 week later .. video .. paint peels off
He should just touch up the rock chips professionally done would make it look pretty close to perfect and no paint is as good as OEM
a lot of the pros ive talk to recommend at least 4 weeks, preferably 60 days before wrapping over fresh paint
AMMO NYC has a good point in his video about the Porsche where his says how to add PPF quicker then normal. I dont recall what he says about I thought it brought the cure time down so the film could be added faster.
Applying it is not an issue, an experienced installer can do it in 1 shot without lifting. The purpose of ppf is to protect your painted panel, so lets say the ppf gets damaged by a scrape (in a parking lot someone scrapes against you gently) and you have to remove it. You will pull paint and will have to repaint that bumper again nullifying the entire purpose of ppf to save you money from a repaint. I suggest to all my clients to wait 7 days and make sure the car was baked at the bodyshop. I have been in situations where the client was demanding to getting ppf installed same day as it was painted. (on a Murcielago and recently on G63AMG)
Why not leave it on until you are ready to get it painted and rewrapped?
Its a good idea to leave it on until then but the paint needs time to cure before rewrapping it.

Imagine driving your new AMG behind a modified F150 with big wheels and no fender flares and getting sprayed with rocks because the truck owner didn't want to feel "forced" to buy fender flares... 🤔
I don't think Sydney will have no college money. If anything Mike has shown us that the videos kinda pay for themselves.
I do agree that I think it's a bit stupid to remove the cats and all. Very un-Sweden like or un-European like to own 2 trucks (one being a raptor) and a 2018 AMG. Americans should really reconsider buying all those damn cars for the sake of the environment.
But nothing will change. Eventually more droughts will happen, more storms will happen, more floodings will happen, and eventually all that molten ice from the poles has got to go somewhere...
But my main point really was about those fender flares and how I think it is a bit childish how he made a whole video about being "forced" to put them on. Nobody forced him to put them on. He forced it on himself when he bought those wheels. He told us that he knew it was illegal and that he was going to just take his chances with them. He lost the bet and still managed to shift the blame to someone else.
Not everybody can afford to pay a couple thousand dollars to xpel wrap their daily driver car. Imagine those people driving behind his truck and getting sprayed with rock chips. Imagine his benz being sprayed with rock chips by another truck and how he will make a video about it showing how pissed he is. Just a bit too hypocritical for my taste.
Sublime Well said. I was thinking bout that the other day driving my 2020 AMG. Cmon bro! Do us car lovers a favor and get those fenders
You should have left the Xpel on the car and left the removal to the place that's going to paint it. If your driving to the paint place you will possibly get MORE paint chips in your car from pealing the Xpel off the bumper in your driveway. You really should have booked an appointment with an Xpel place BEFORE you bought your car. That's what i did. I picked up my brand new car, drove it less than 5 miles to my Xpel dealer and had my car covered and coated.Im in the Pittsburgh Area and I know our roads have shit on them everywhere. Keep that in mind on your next new car you buy, book the Xpel appointment 1st, then go buy the car. It makes sure you have a scratch/nick free car.
That's why I like this channel, the guy doesn't try to hide his mistakes and is open about his success and failures.
I’m going to guess the grill of the beast is getting dipped in the hydro graphics 😊
Flanders or LED
My first thought was hydro dipping...not sure what else he could be doing.
I've never been this early before, but you inspired me in some ways! It takes alot of courage to upload your life on the internet.

Matching black is not as easy as people think. Especially on a car like this where it has to be absolutely perfect. This may go south and once its painted there is no going back.
It takes a real man to show his screw ups when working on his baby lol. Love the content.
as someone with flares on there truck for 3 years now i would recommend putting xpel under the flares of your truck or else they will slowly rub your clear coat and paint off, love the truck
Something you need to consider is you can’t wrap freshly painted surface for months and you’re probably going to chip it up waiting to get it re-wrapped again LOL
Pro Mountain Biker perfect opportunity to mess up and make another video about it
Yeah you'll get to hear him whine about it again 🎵🎶🎵🎶🎵🎶
Also, make sure you let the new paint de-gas before wrapping it. Although Larry at AMMO said the new wraps breath pretty well.
This is why we started having our dealers install clear bras on everything before we take delivery including on my wife's E 400. I've never completely wrapped a vehicle though and may consider it on my next vehicle purchase.
You should take that empty license plate mount off the front of the f150.
Yes. Please
Make sure you use a shop that bakes the paint or it will peel up when or if the new expel is ever removed Factory paint is typically baked to dry cure and harden the paint and most resprays don’t compare
The material is called "hounds-tooth".
Mark Chippendale no it’s expel that’s what the clear wrap is
Billy Smith - I'm referring to the seat fabric he mentioned at the beginning.
Mark Chippendale You indeed ARE correct, it is called Hounds-tooth! A seat fabric design.
Design on the material
Billy Smith and if you want to get picky, it’s Xpel. :).
You can spotfill the pits other than repainting such a large surface. They should be able to buff in the blemished pits along with the original paint to match..
So much money wasted, 😮
As someone who installs paint protection film on cars all the time. If you just get that bumper touched up by a professional, once it is rewrapped it will not be noticeable at all
I wish I knew that you could wrap a car like that when I bought my hyundai elantra gt about 2 years ago... oh well thank god for AutoVlog for educating me and other viewers :D
I've been watching your channel for the last monts..Ford looks amazing!!! AMG too..keep the good work!
i wouldn't do a full respray but just use touch up paint, it takes a very professional painter to get it oem quality
I feel ya. My wife's Jade Green Pathfinder is covered in stone chips from Interstate commuter driving and it is a 26K vehicle. Wish I had known about clear bra and wraps back in 2015.
Really liked the yellow on the Ford bumper, it made it stand out and be different. Also it's obvious that the cars will always get damage on the road if you plan to drive them...
He’s hydro coating the grill
Hey Mike you should keep some isopropyl on hand that would have clean up your glue. Won’t damage anything on your car won’t wreck your paint your wrap .Shane should have some on hand ask him about it. Guess it too late by time you get this but yes try it out. You won’t go wrong. Great job on your videos.
Vlogs working around the house is funny Mike, bring them on!
So satisfying to watch the unwrapping of the wrap
Why would you be concerned about the glue spot? All of that will be removed when the body shop preps and sands the front end before repainting.
Paint does need to cure before rewrapping however.
WD-40 will take that glue off and won't damage anything else. I had dried tar all over my back bumper, I mean globs of it, on my paint and the WD-40 took it off without breaking a sweat. Spray some on, let it sit for a minute or so and then wipe. Repeat if needed but I doubt you will need to.
I dig the vlogs brah....keep up the fantastic work...
Wow! Those are a lot of chips. I don’t blame you for painting it...I’d do the same. The glue sounds like something I would do!
You sir have a new follower. Watched one and started following. Watched several now and I like your content
Since you had xpel wrap on and you didn’t like the marks why didn’t you just get black marker and cover the marks up🤷🏻♀️ just a thought right ?
Go to Moon Auto Body...highly recommended.
Also, you need to protect the paint where your fender flares touch on the truck. Road grit will get in between and sand the paint off.
I maybe need to wrap the front of my car too..My old car had stone chips everywhere and even the hood started to rust..Anyways..Great video as always! Can't wait to see the truck full blacked out!
I would never re-spray my bumber just because of a few stone chips just fix the stone chips by putting some of the matched paint on them I know it's not the correct method but wrap it afterwards and there shouldn't be a problem
Glad i found your youtube channel, i dig the content🤘🏼
ur thought process is if it looks cool, its cool
Badges and similar, look into 3M VHB tape (the gray, not the white/foam type) works great, for the future... Cars look good as usual!
Hey man, love the videos i am picking up my C63S this week. I run a PPF Wrap shop, have you attempted a 3M Adhesive remover on it? it should remove the glue (just make sure to wipe it off as you wipe it on and don't let it sit there or it will discolor the film if left 5minutes +)
leave it to the professionals i guess. this is ridiculous
Repainting the front bumper on the Benz isn't necessary Mike. You could just give small paint corrections for the bumper with probably a paint pen. Its basically a sharpie but made for cars. Not a lot of cost but almost the same results. Or, on the extreme side, just take a sharpie and do it. Repainting isn't necessary and could cost a lot more. Think about it, I think your friend Inshane designs could help...
That Porsche interior is called Houndstooth and it was beautiful!
I'm guessing your gonna be getting the stock grill hydro dipped. Done right it looks amazing.
That grille getting hydro dipped :) Nice content as always!
Thank you for telling us about the Event at Heinz! I love cars but never know where the events are.
Just tuning in to your channel again! I used to be one of your first few thousend viewers! Have you made a gym video already? I see in the intro but I can not find the video! Please let me know and let the Magnus Samuelson power continue!!
I can see the difference, one part is clean and the other is dirty. But that still a sweet ride. I love E63
Favorite part of todays video? "and these stupid little screw's" hahahaaha
As long as the prep work is done right on the bumper you wont have any problems , but if I was you I wouldn't Xpel the bumper for awhile and let the paint cure before you cover it up . You might see what the body shop says ! Love your videos !
Why dont you remove the front licence plate bracket off your truck? Either that or get some kind of custom plate for it. The License plate bracket destroys the look of the of the truck.
have you tried using a mixture of warm water (not boiling water) and car wash on the glue to get it off?
Are you planning on getting a black leather interior for the f150?
Totally off topic, however I saw that across the street from you there is a home for sale. I have always admired your beautiful neighborhood...your home and the ones around you are so nice. I would love to live in a neighborhood like yours someday.
Haters are gonna hate it. But Mike you are doing a good job just let the haters hate. They just jealous because they can't do what everyone does. But Mike your doing good like watching your channels all the time. AutoVLog I'm following you on Instagram.
You won’t have further problems for the tires sticking out of the fenders ? On the f150?
You are not getting off that MB symbol without destroying whatever it is glued to. so just make sure you plan to replace that part at the same time
No, say it ain't so! You can't get that type of glue on "The Beast"! But, it turns out that you're smarter than you realized, because you got the wrap, which allows you to take it off and remove the glue. And that's why you should get your car wrapped.
Why not leave the xpel on the AMG and have the body shop remove it when they go to paint the car? Now since removal, you're going to get more stone chips unless you transport in an enclosed trailer.
Quick question - what sunglasses do you wear? I have admired them for the last year or so. Thanks.
For the f150 u should get towing mirrors that can look more tougher and love ur channel and benz
Think that pattern is called houndstooth.
Are those flare screws real, or just decorative? On my ram, they were decorative and not actual working screws serving any purpose. Would imagine they could be painted in some method, or dipped if they are real
most of d time is decorative
Andrew Darrow detective on that brand
if you're going to wrap the front bumper, are you also going to put expel on top of the wrap for the added protection?
Thanks Mike ,
Another great vlog! You never quit!
Keep up the great work always looking 4ward to your next video!👍
AutoVlog “Raa-ta-ta-ta-ta”. Awesome
Please keep us updated on the respray. I wanna do the same thing to my car. So sick of little rock chips on black paint. It's the worst.
I'd try T-cut on the glue, that may loosen it. I don't think a chemical remover is a good idea, your paint will come off too. After T-cut, it would be 1200 grit wet and dry, and alot of work...
Was getting used to the Swedish flag on the F150, kinda split the truck up a bit. It's a shame to see it go but it still looks great.👍🏼
Are you going to put new head gaskets in with bronze lining before you supercharge the f-150? It would be a good bullet proof mod. I’ve done a major engine overhaul rebuild on an 2.0 inline-4 Kia 400k engine. Basically that means literally everything besides machining. Also there is a UA-cam channel called Alejandro Flores that has an 5.0l supercharged f-150.
Awesome video Mike!
Hello AutoVlog Buddy,
Really Appreciate for your hard work on Updating F150 . I Need your suggestion ...can you please ...Actually am looking to change Breaks and Rotors For my 2017 Fusion Titanium .which type of Rotors (Plane, slotted, Drilled) are Better for my Car...If you suggest any website regarding that, please provide me the link..
use a drop of gasoline to remove the dried glue but that might damage the paint job a little eh
Loving the content!
I think these wrap guys got you all messed up, you just need a good detail guy to take care of your vehicles, also learning some of that type of thing will help with your OCD, it's very satisfying and calming when you know you can deal with any issues regarding the appearance of your vehicle.
😂😂 here we go again .. u need to wash that car with holy water
I'm going to assume you're going to hydro dip the stock bumper of the Mercedes?
Good video:) you should take the car to the Rockies and film the entire trip just running the gears the whole time!!:))
I am looking to get a 1992 IROC Z28 Camaro and my F150 Xpel Wrap soon
I'm really gonna miss that carbon grill, it looks so good!😭
I have a crazy thought, why don’t you wrap the front bumper in your cars color
Autovlog Great Video I'm you are going to be getting the Beast repainted and re expel wrapped and I'm also the front bumper of your F-150 is getting black vinyl wrapped it's going to look so good
just got delivery of my 2016 AMG C63s today...
what does this guy do for a living to afford these cars ?? ...
Hey mike, i love these mod series. But also miss your car review videos. Hope to see more of those videos :-)
They are coming back :)
What would it look like if you get a stone chip over the wrap? Would it look as ugly as stone chip on bare paint? My front bumper is getting beat up too.
Insurance may cover the repainting of that front end if you explain your incident.
Why didnt you try and stop the truck that sprayed you? You must have known that was alot of damage by the noise?
Can't wait to see what you will be doing with the Merc Star emblem :D
The stock Benz piece is actually going to be plastic dipped. That's what I believe will happen
Videos are awesome. Can't wait for the next one. What is the music you used in the video? I like it
Protect your wrap with another layer of wrap 😂
Reminds me of when I bought an aftermarket grille for w204 and I installed the oem star cause it didn’t come with aftermarket part. It was very loose because the tabs on the aftermarket part were too weak. So what happened was when I was driving it fell off and I ran that thing over LOL long story short I got a new one and glued it in too!
A really good paint shop will do better than most factory paint jobs, the opposite of what you said. Hydro dip has been around for years.
next time just get white much cleaner color no swirls or scratches, ive been driving a 08 F150 for 7 years 100000 miles and the white paint still looks great.
Hey Mike! Good luck bro!
Have you tried the 3M paint protection film ? Can you do a video about 3M vs expel ?
Seats design are called houndstooth
Why the heck did you ever Expel without at least touching up all those rock chips with something like Dr Colorchip?!
