Thank you for this video. It gave me the courage to take mine apart. When I reassembled it, my counter didn't work anymore . I took it apart again. The small gear on the counter was not engaging the "gear teeth" on the white ring. I made sure they engaged & put it back together. It works great now. I hope this helps someone whose counter isn't working.
Thank you for showing how to take apart the Sentro. To my knowledge, the machines are NOT lubricated from the factory. The white dusty residue is plastic dust from the pieces rubbing against each other. The only parts that I'd lubricate are the pins and the track they run in. Use a silicone lubricant. Otherwise, you'll have a build-up of lint and fuzz getting stuck in the lubricant. A little of the stuff goes a very long way. I used to repair sewing machines, and it's the same principle.
Girl, YOU ARE A BLESSING. I just got my Sentro and in 3 days made 4 hats. Last night I may have made a hat for my hubby with Bernat blanket yarn😬 tried to start a new hat when I got off today and it was stressing clanking and clacking and not wanting to go at all😢. I watched 2 other videos and thought I knew what to do. Got it all apart and then could not get it flush to go back together. Watched your video and it was like magic and slid right in!!! Thank you for taking the time to do this as I was about to just order another on Temu and throw in the towel. You have a new subscriber bc I love how easy it was to follow along!!
I pulled mine apart to see if I could find out why there were a couple of spots that were getting almost stuck. I spent over a hour trying to reassemble before I looked it up. This video helped me put it back together, so thank you
I cant thank you enough maam , ya done saved me the trouble of trying to contact the factory back in china where they asked me for $200 for a replacement and shipping charges .
I used this grease before for the SENTRO but only once because I have not used my SENTRO in a long while. Now going back to this video and reading the comments I decided to do some research. The Lithium grease with TIME it will Decay and destroy the plastic. Lithium grease is more for elements that will be exposed to heat. The Silicone Grease is recommended for plastic and it will repel moisture and it won’t damage plastic. Just a little info. But in the end it is your decision on how to take care of your machine. 😊
I had bought the Lithium spray can because it was the only thing I found at the time, a year + ago. Not only it didn’t improve the workings of the machine, the spray was difficult to contain. I sprayed it into a cup and wiped some on with a cloth, so I’m glad I don’t have much to remove next cleaning. Thanks for the input!
I got some super Lube oil from Amazon I just got it today in the mail I will be using mine on my addi knitting machines small Express and king size machine here in few days like Sunday or Saturday night
I will be getting this lubricant from the home improvement store tomorrow. My poor Jamit (technically a sentro) is giving me fits. I will need a lock box to leep my 2.5 year old son out of it. He loves all of my liquid stuff for crafts be it glue, resin, or polishing paste.
I have tried my hardest to get my handle off so I can take apart my 40 needle and I’m gonna tell you it’s impossible coz the white part will not come off even if you we Wiggle it and pull down a little on the handle, so I guess it will never be cleaned or the inside cked coz it does make a clicking noise only when the yarn is on there & even with 3 ply yarn so I know it’s not the yarn. It’s almost like they didn’t put some needles in correctly or it needs to be greased. But the handle on this 20 needle sentro isn’t like the end of your 48 & I guess I’m gonna try it next once I get the grease in for it & just throw this one in the dump coz it’s not suppose to be making a clicking noise & it’s bad & this was my Christmas this year. I love these machines but why have the newer model if you can’t take it apart to clean or check to see if everything on the inside is working correctly. I love your video!
I think the black peg that you line up with the grey ring is supposed to be lined up with the white peg. when I put just any pink peg with it, the counter was counting a few stitches after the white peg had passed. I lined it up at the white peg and it worked again.
It’s hard to get it in and off but the sides have those little pins that push in and out. I would try and carefully push to one side and pop out the other side
Do you think this would work if the problem is just one or two needles that get 'stuck' and the machine makes an awful crunching clicking noise to get it to move on?
Thank you for the info on the grease. My goofy self used Vaseline 😂 I mean it worked, but I know it's not for the machine at all🤦🏽♀️ I take my sentro apart and clean it out every like 15-20 uses when I use red heart because the fibers are always caked up in the machine
You’re welcome and omg 😂😂😂 but hey if it works haha!! But that grease works amazing and it’s cheap too and it’ll last awhile! I know to clean mine more often now.
so...my dear sweet husband seems to think this type of grease 'glued' my machine together... I was using a low speed drill and my machine made this HORRIFIC *KRCSHK* sound and then the handle was stuck and wouldn't move. We got it apart but where the pins slide up to grab the yarn has basically 'melted' or it has been shaved off...
My machine has the same sound before I used the grease and after unfortunately. I think it’s machine design error and not the grease! I do not use a drill on mine bc I’m afraid to go at a higher speed and not be able to see the stitches. I am sorry to hear about your machine! My husband bought me a new sentro since the one I used to make all these videos had crapped out on me. Luckily they’re ALOT cheaper than they was when I got that one in the video.
Your sound is so far down that I put mine way up to the top and still could barely understand what you are saying so I'm going to say good for you and I will watch you on my phone I guess. Hopefully I can hear you then. My tablet will only let me go so far because it's concerned about my ears! Lol!
I personally didn’t have issues wjrh it eating the plastic but I have had someone else comment saying they think it may have caused issues with ther machine. I would say use at your own discretion.
Thank you for the video!!! I took mine apart for the first time. Mine has never been so quiet! Where did you get your add on counter? Mine is off by several pins. It works but not on the 48th pin.
I had to force most of the screws out bc I haven’t kept up my machine like I should have. Once I got them out and greased them they come out with ease.

Thank u. Didn't know I needed to grease it
Just found your channel and followed your instrux to clean and grease my Sentro 48. Worked out nicely, thank you so much!
That is awesome 😁😁😁😁
Thank so much for this video, my yard threader was broken off and had to take it apart to place new one on. This helped me so so much. Thank you!
Just awesome! So glad you made this video. Doing mine as I watch! Thank you.
This helped me so much, just got the grease from home depot, finger's crossed!

@@Renee1983 no it didn’t
Thank you thank you!!!! Your video just saved me from buying a new machine.
I’m so happy I could help!!!
The notch on the 48th pin lines up with the notch on the row counter pannel. That's what makes the row counter work!
Awesome tutorial bless you thank you so much 🥰 I've just received my machine so this tutorial has been super amazing 🥰❤🤗
Had to clean my machine again and you help so much! Than you!
I will do it now and i am so excited. Thank you!
I found Q-tips work great for getting the dirt out of tight spots and also for putting the grease back on also a magnetic dish to keep the screws in
You never know until you try so good job.
Mine is not knitting and it's new so l wanted to see the inside part of it kudos you helped me to know how the skeleton of the machine is.

I know what you mean! My almost 4 year old loves messing in my crafting things too 😂 but it doesn’t take much so I think the tube will last awhile.
Awesome job! Bet they don’t grease it enough at the factory. You made me more confident to take mine apart. Thank you !
You’re welcome and I hope it helps!

Beyond frustration over here. Broke a needle and thought it'd be an easy-ish fix. What a mess

@@destinyg.9142 next time I will try and line it up! I love my digital counter though and you’re welcome I so happy to hear that 😁😁😁
Screwdriver I used. Works: "Phillips Size: #0; Shaft Size: 75 x 3mm / 3 Inch x 0.12 Inch (L*D)"
I can't get the last 2 screws out. They keep spinning
They could be stripped out which would cause them to spin. That could definitely be from factory as well.
did I miss something? Why didn't you grease the teeth the winding handle binds with. it would help with wear and tear of the winding mecanism?
I just greased where I seen there was some from before but that is something to consider next time!
Awesome video but how did you took off your tensioner because I put mine on with the wrong side and now I just can’t get it off 😭?
It’s hard to get it in and off but the sides have those little pins that push in and out. I would try and carefully push to one side and pop out the other side
Do you think this would work if the problem is just one or two needles that get 'stuck' and the machine makes an awful crunching clicking noise to get it to move on?
I would recommend greasing them then for sure! The machine needs to be cleaned and greased every so often.

@@SpookyHousewifeChronicles that's so awesome! I'm gonna buy some this week!
Great video thank you! But are you able to get the counter and magnet off if you need to get new machine eventually?
Yes it is hot glued on ☺️
I watched and did my machine with the exact grease and my needles would not fall back down.
I’m not sure why. You may need to take it back apart and make sure it is put together correctly. It should fall back into place.
Would some sort of baby wipe be helpful at the cleaning stage?
It could be! Whatever you find that works for you I would definitely recommend ☺️

Thanks for sharing.
Sewing machine oil works too.
I didn’t know that! Thanks for sharing as well.
Not a good idea to use sewing machine oil or WD-40 or other oils. They're not made for plastic.
Did the lithium grease eat the plastic inside your knitting machine? Everyone tells me not to use that grease due to it eating plastic.
I personally didn’t have issues wjrh it eating the plastic but I have had someone else comment saying they think it may have caused issues with ther machine. I would say use at your own discretion.
Bonjour, vous effectuez ce nettoyage combien de fois par an ou après combien d'utilisation de la machine ? 🤗Merci
Thanks for the tutorial, question does that grease has a strong smell? Does it pass to the yarn?
It does not have a smell and it did not see it on the yarn when I worked up a few rows

How about using WD 40 or a silicone spray for lubrication?
I haven’t tried that but it would be something I would look into. If you try it let me know!
Best to be food grade. Remember garments you made on the machine will touch human skin… think about that
@@gtbanga1479 this grease I used is safe. It does not touch the yarn and I have had no complaints.
I used WD40 first because it’s what I had but it only would last a short time before I needed to hit it again. Hoping the lithium grease works longer.
Wd isn't good for this plastic it will mess it up

Do you use sewing machine oil on your machine?
No I used white lithium grease! That’s what I seen was recommended for it ☺️
@@SpookyHousewifeChronicles thank you
@@Jennifer_79 I think machine oil is for the flatbed knitting machines that are metal. Since the needles are plastic I think you have to use grease.
won't go back together
I’m sorry that it won’t go back together for you.
You don't want to much oil on the machine your yarn will get it all over
I wouldn't use a hot glue gun glue anything on the machine it will melt down the machine
Thanks for the advice!
Actually it doesn't melt the machine at all, in fact it pops right off if for some reason I need to take it off
