    I can’t seem to get a proper output file that shows up. Any idea on a fix?

      What size is the area you are trying to model?

      @@minimal3dp one single tile. I followed the exact steps in this guide with the only difference being the location, I chose New York instead of Philadelphia. My problem is in the las2dem, when I choose/ or make an output file every looks normal. Then, when I run the las2dem and have to select that file and drag it onto my screen it’s nowhere to be found.

    Is there any way to do this but only with one of the selected groups of points? I'm trying to print land with a bunch of trees and I only want to see the land below it, I can deselect everything but the "Ground" points but I'm not sure how to reexport the LAS with only this group of points selected.

    I cant seem to get the TIFF file. Everytime I run this plugin, it runs and then I go check the file I set it to, and nothing shows up. Does it have to be LAS only?

      Las or laz should work. Is the area you are looking at large? It might be having issues with the size.

      I got it to work, thanks for the video. Do you have a resource on how to remove those diagonal lines that show up after you export?@@minimal3dp

    Currently trying this out since blosm didn’t have the precision I was looking for, awesome video! Also, I believe those diagonal lines are due to using the “free” version of LAStools. Kind of a shame considering the cost of a license.

      If you have ArcGIS Pro (even a demo version), you can do the same thing without LAStools and the lines. Resolution might be better, but I'm not sure .

    Hello! Thanks for the tutorial, still trying to make it work. When I run las2dem nothing happens, I've tried multiple times but no tif-file is created. Do you have some idea what the problem might be?

    • @minimal3dp

      If you are using LASTool free version, then no. If you have access to ArcGIS Pro, you can create a clean DEM with that. A trial version might be available.

    I was wondering if you had a suggestion to output a color map that matches the 3d print.... I have a vacuum former that i would like to "melt" the printed plastic onto the 3d form.... any suggestions?

      @@minimal3dp the vacuum former accepts pre-printed clear plastic sheets that i would print the map on, it heats it, and then presses it against the 3d print...

    I have used a similar process before that you presented and now I am trying to accomplish the same thing but using a CNC machine and carving it out in wood. My stumbling block currently is trying to get rid of the red dashed line that generates when you click on the print extent in DEMto3D. I want it to be the same as my clipped raster and not a square. Ideally I want the area represented by white in between my print extent and my clipped raster not to be milled by my CNC. Any ideas? I have tried changing my no data values without any success.

    • @minimal3dp
      @minimal3dp  2 роки тому

      Do you have access to ArcGIS Pro? If you do, you don't need to use DEMto3D. The line is an issue with the free version of the software. I do believe that you can get a trial version of Pro. Let me know if that helps.

    • @jahyder1
      @jahyder1 2 роки тому

      @@minimal3dp yes I have Pro, that is how I clipped my las (extract LAS) and then I converted it to tiff, (Las to Raster) then I bring into QGIS. I haven't been able to find any instructions for DEM to some type of .stl to use in Pro.

    • @minimal3dp
      @minimal3dp  2 роки тому

      @@jahyder1 i think the lines come from using the free version of lastools. If you use pro instead of lastools to do the laz to Dem convertion and use qgis to make the STL you should wind up with a cleaner result.

      I have used this for ground elevation data in the past. It does have Canada: app.worldviewr.com/
      I would also look at local and provincial government sites and see if you can find your AOI.
