Mama Cass gave M & P's "guts" And Phillips gave its melody. They will never come again, but their music will be an impression that will stand the test of time. Who agrees?

Jeff Lloyd You need to get your facts straight.
      1. Mackenzie Phillips was not John and Michelle's daughter. Her mother was John's first wife, Susan Adams. John and Michelle only had one child together, Chynna, who wasn't even born until 1968, well after this video was recorded.
      2. The alledged incest took place from 1979-88, long after this performance, long after the Mama's & the Papa's broke up, and long after John and Michelle had divorced. So, clearly he wasn't "fucking their daughter on a regular basis," at the time of this performance.
      3. The incest allegations didn't come out until 2009, 8 years after John's death, and a full 20 years after the supposed incest ended. They also coincidently corresponded with the release of a "tell all" book by Mackenzie. Nothing like a bombshell incest accusation to help sell books. BTW, Mackenzie had also just been busted for heroin and cocaine possession immediately prior to her allegations. Nothing like a sexual abuse sob story to help gain sympathy during the sentencing phase of a drug use trial.
      4. Mackenzie was 20-29 years old during the period in question. I can't imagine an adult woman allowing something like that to happen for such a long period of time.
      5. Both Michelle, and Genevieve Waite, John's third wife during the time of the alledged incest, have always denied the allegations. I'm sure that John would have too, had he still been alive to defend himself.
So what we have is a life long heavy drug user, (Mackenzie) who claims to have been in a 10 year incestuous relationship with her father throughout her 20's, that no one else around her knew anything about, and she says nothing about it until 20 years after the fact, and 8 years after her father died and could no longer defend himself. She also waits until she's broke, in desperate need of money, writing a tell all book, and awaiting sentencing for drug possession before making the claims. Yah right. I smell bullshit.
Maybe it happened, and maybe it didn't. But at the very least there is considerable legitimate doubt.

They bucked the trend at the time - while they did write much of their own music they didn't really perform with instruments, except for the occasional acoustic guitar and a tambourine. They were vocalists on stage but that's what made them so compelling. Their harmonies were unsurpassed.

It didn’t matter whether we could sing well because we were young, the sun was shining, we had plans for Myrtle Beach after school was out, heck, we simply had plans because we were young and the road ahead was wide open and welcoming. ☺️

There’s something so beautiful and yet haunting all at the same time but only when they sing it. Wow.

Boy, oh boy... that bass is absolutely _kickin'!_
The rhythm section on this track is one of my all-time favorites. I don't think people realize just how hard this song rocks, really. Along with those angelic voices, the song is propelled forward like it's on jet fuel... 🔥🔥🔥 That's why I can listen to it on repeat, endlessly.

I lived it. San Francisco- West Coast cruising in corvettes, super sports 396, hotrods, drag racing, malt shops, drive-ins, smoking weed, red mountain wine, beach boys, rolling stones, Animals, rascals, Byrds, Steppenwolf, Cream, iron butter fly, Santana, jimi Hendrix, the doors, Rare Earth, Chamber Brothers, turtles, grass roots, hermits, temptations, Fourtops, and so many more groups. Summer of love in S.F. 1967. I was there. hell's Angles, Gypsy jokers, 10,000 people getting high, throwing fisbee's, dancing nude, falling out of trees, A cloud of weed covered 15,000 people. what a time growing up. we were on top of the world.

Music when created from the soul becomes eternal... when created to make money it’s forgotten in a few decades. Didn’t grew in America and this song was always embedded in my brain like a nostalgic dream from a world i never met.
