Did anyone interpret this video as I did? My wife recently told me she no longer loves me (yeah I know, sob story). The lyrics are very suggestive of losing someone. He talks about memories and using time to navigate those memories, lying to yourself, and offering yourself; your love. The video shows a boy and girl fighting desperately to find beauty, to find life. They're in a dead world but together they attempt to better they're environment. By doing so, their world crumbles. Everything they've known, everything around them is destroyed. They hold tight to eachother as the storm worsens and just as it seems they can take no more or that they may die, the storm breaks and life blossoms around them. Beauty and meaning now cover their once desolate world and lives. Best part of the video is when they hug eachother at the end with those big smiles on their faces. They made it. All of that struggle and fear was well, well worth it. I see this video as a message of hope- don't give up. Battle the storms and eventually, no matter how hard it becomes, it will pay off. This song and video are perfect together regardless of how you interpret them.
I'm having my morning coffee with tears streaming down my face right now from the song alone. This comment just hit me like a train. Beautiful analysis bro, I feel it.
@3:59 - that transition from "Your Soul!!!!!!!" to the "whoooooaaaaaaa" + the hurricane scene is just perfect. Hard to put into words. I get chills everytime 🔥🔥🔥

I discovered Devin 4 days ago, and he's already delivered me more chills than all of my life experiences of the past decade combined. Yes, I need to get out more, but still...what utterly astounding music!
Just discovered him today. I'm 38 and have listened to rock and metal for decades. My wife must have been cutting onions while I was watching this because my eyes starting watering.
I loved strapping young lad. One day I was at FYE doing my usual by everything I see thing and I swear Terria by Devin Townsend and was like oh cool, fuck it, bought it. Little did I know that I was going to be blown the fuck out of my seat through the entire album. So I did the most logical thing and went back the next day and told my buddy that I needed to exchange a few of the albums I had bought and didn't open for everything Devin Townsend they had. I was in luck, they had Ocean Machine, Phycisist, and Accelerated Evolution had like just come out. Scooped up all 3. Went home and just binged on Devin for like 4 weeks straight.
Phallus Dei I wouldn't say so. It's just not you cup of tea maybe. I don't always feel like listening to his band either. Sometimes I just get in the mood for something that I can just put on and let my mind drift. Devin can usually make that happen for me
Phallus Dei I wouldn't say it's flat and boring. Townsend is writing very complex harmonies an he is a musical genius. I need to give him credits for his talent. But on the other hand I can absolutely understand you. I like a few songs of him, but there is a lot of stuff I don't appreciate. The problem you have is the one I have with Dream Theatre. In my opinion they are caring too much about the technical aspects and so loosing any feeling for emotions in their music.

To be honest this was not my favorite song from the new album, but this video actually overwhelmed me with emotions.. I feel so overwhelmed.. It gave new life to the song for me
The first time I heard this song and the first time the chorus came up, I got choked up. As the song went on and the chorus came up again, the tears came. It still hits me, though, not as hard as that first time.
This man's music leaves me in awe at times...and brings so much joy to my musical soul. Been a fan forever... since Sex and Religion with Steve Vai came out in 93'. His growth has been a wonderful and joyous journey to enjoy and experience. My favorite individual musician for the last 25 years.
Never knew of the song until I heard the cove of itr on this latest DTP album. I just checked out the animated video for the original Ween song and there certainly is similarities. Thanks for the info!
Twenty years ago I used to listen to Devin when I was making costumes cos it made me sew faster. Now I'm writing books and he helps me type faster!!! Just one of those legends that keeps giving.
Lot of talent in this band. Not a lot of hair, but a lot of talent.
Ageing is the process by which hair is converted into talent :)
#Bring back the skullet

the hair-to-talent ratio is greatly exaggerated and overrated
Bro, trust me, Devin Townsend with hair is terrifying. Back in his days with Strapping Young Lad he looked like a cave troll.

Love this! New fave!
One of the greatest musicians ever!!! Been a Devin fan since 94 and he is still pushing limits!! Masterpiece song!!
To be honest this was not my favorite song from the new album, but this video actually overwhelmed me with emotions.. I feel so overwhelmed.. It gave new life to the song for me
Feel the same
The first time I heard this song and the first time the chorus came up, I got choked up. As the song went on and the chorus came up again, the tears came. It still hits me, though, not as hard as that first time.
Well, glad I am not the only one reacting that way. It just pulls out your emotions so well.
It was already my favorite but hearing it live made it even more favoriter.
This man's music leaves me in awe at times...and brings so much joy to my musical soul. Been a fan forever... since Sex and Religion with Steve Vai came out in 93'. His growth has been a wonderful and joyous journey to enjoy and experience. My favorite individual musician for the last 25 years.
I love this song!
World needs to hear this song.
Canadian musician destroys city. No one complains due to awesomeness. Kids hug.
2:00 Dev tried to do an epic headbanging trick, but forgot he shaved off the skullet nearly a decade ago. lol
Ha. Nice pick up. What was he thinking?!
Jesse Valdiviez probably his way of sneaking some silly antics into a video that is overall more serious.

Come on dude. We're going for the cheap laughs here. Get on board!
BigRamifications :(
Yeah Mitchell
Amazing song from Devin as you'd expect.
I love the HUGE sound! Turn it up to 11.
this reminds me the Transdermal Celebration video.
Amazing!!!
Glad I'm not the only one who feels like this!
Same here! It also reminded me of WallE XD
Never knew of the song until I heard the cove of itr on this latest DTP album. I just checked out the animated video for the original Ween song and there certainly is similarities. Thanks for the info!
What an onslaught. Masterpiece.
Just discovered this song (and Devin), absolutely EPIC....! =)
Twenty years ago I used to listen to Devin when I was making costumes cos it made me sew faster. Now I'm writing books and he helps me type faster!!! Just one of those legends that keeps giving.
Glorious.
This song makes me remember the rainy days in Chinatown
strong and heavy
So many times Townsend carry me trough difficult days...pure power and energy!!!!
The way I can't help but close my eyes and get choked up during key parts of this. This man speaks to my absolute core. Just absurdly powerful.
Best spellcasting song ever.
THIS is how a mix is done: everything's a musical instrument, yes even the lead vocals - no need for them to overpower anything else. EPIC! 🤘😎
