Here's an idea: Alec and Will make a knife blade each, without the other seeing it. Then they'll have to make the handle, pommel and guard to each other's blade, knowing only the measures necessary to do the fitting. I think for the sake of the challenge both knives should be a hidden tang style, with a simple ricasso that doesn't give away if the blade is a hunting knife, a bowie, a dagger or whatever.
@@gavinmanteuffel6134 But probably hard to pull of, a knife handle is a pretty complex form with all its curves. So If you just draw the shape onto a piece of paper you have already given away half of the knife´s look

Yeah, I notice from watching the video that will has some dangerous habits, alec probably sees this and is concerned... Hammering a bulky screwdriver/chisel into a seized screw over his knee that's right in the slip path, using hand tools like that on the lathe, the handle-less file and that's just this vid off the top of my head, Oh yeah, nearly setting his own head on fire xD. I've noticed it before as well, he's young so thinks he's invincible, but he should be careful, one slip and he'll be that old man with missing fingers or worce! [edit]...and being his employer technically, alec will probably get the blame for it legally speaking. not that he's not concerned for wills wellbeing, he just has more than one reason to be concerned for his safety at work.
DaftFader using a file on the lathe isn’t a bad thing he might not be as experienced with metal lathes so he’s more comfortable by using the file and I’ve always used files with no handles and it’s kind of better without them, but you have a point with the knee thing imagine if that went into a main artery 😖
@@sammillward3743 I've seen people use hand tools on a lathe before, and I can tell will prefers hand tools as he uses them a lot, just to me at least, the way he handles them around it is what's dangerous.
