I went over a huge transformation of my style and everything over the past year. Actually seeing things that fit and are versatile actually boosted my confidence and everything. I know now that if I look in my closet and pick anything, 9 times out of 10 it will go with everything else. Great advice Brian! If I may add on top of this list, it is to keep an open mind and experiment. It could be small things like a new tie knot or a type of belt, to something bigger like new silhouettes or new style all together. I have experienced this with suits, when I was faced with needing to buy my first suit for a friends wedding I opted to buy a more expensive and quality option(Suit supply) which at the time was a big investment for me($800+). My friends went all with Zara and cheap suits. The way the Italian wool from my suit draped and shinned was so noticeable when compared to my friends. Quality is often visible in ways you wouldn't imagine, fit could make a cheap item look better but it can only go so far.

Great advice. It's tragic that this approach to style is so at odds with our western culture these days, people really do need to hear the message Brain is presenting on this channel. The average person in Canada or the USA is very poorly dressed, and has a mess of junk inside their overstuffed closets at home. Better quality and less quantity.
I have the classics, dress shirts, polo shirts, chinos, trousers, etc. and I sometimes feel like I have nothing to wear, but I think it may be because I haven't practiced just putting together outfits.
Not necessarily. Part of the shift that I have made personally in my evolution is being comfortable and confident with dressing simply and classically. You don't have to reinvent the wheel--it can't be done and nothing good usually comes from it. If you believe in subtlety and classics, you don't need to do anything special to stand out. Let that be the foundation for your personality to shine through.

I completely agree with your point about finding and developing a relationship with a good tailor. This is something many UA-cam and Instagram influencers mention repeatedly. However, while they talk about the importance of tailoring and what can and can't be altered in men's garments, rarely does anyone go into the details of HOW to find a good tailor and HOW to build that relationship. I ask around often, but most of the men I know don't get their clothes tailored, and the women recommend professionals who specialize mainly in women's garments. Do you have a good video on the subject, or know of one you could recommend?

However, now that I've been doing this for a while, I wish I could start over. I'd definitely lean into keeping it simple, had I a second "at bat". It's elegant, less expensive, more versatile, and fosters fewer conversations/comments.
Thanks for the video Bryan. Great advice , as always. What do you think about a contrasting colour lapel button hole? Like a red silk thread on a navy jacket? And should the sleeve buttons also be the same red? Thanks.

Great videos! Is there a jumpstart video that can get guys (me) on the path immediately? I’m talking shoes, shirts, pants, jackets. Also I’m in Florida where it’s always humid and hot. What fabric is ideal (acceptable) for suits? Sweating just thinking of worsted wool. Thanks for your videos and more specifically your approach and demeanor, very approachable.
While I don't think expensive necessarily means better quality (I've seen $300 Gucci shoes that aren't worth even $150, for example), I do agree that you should know that you get what you paid for. If you take your time to make sure you aren't paying for only a brand's name, you ultimately do get a better garment and if you cut costs, you'll surely cut quality. Going by that logic, and seeing how a good quality suit looks in your videos, I've decided to spend a decent amount for a MTM suit for my wedding, instead of just buying a $200 off-the-rack Polyester suit like most of my friends. I think it was a great decision, you could spot the difference from miles away which was, in your words - a sound investment. And on top of it all - I get to wear it again, because it's just a timeless design. Nothing crazy or flashy, it just works for almost every occasion. All in all, I think those rules could make a great change for one's wardrobe. And TBH, I honestly believe that in the long run, having a small interchangeable wardrobe made out of high quality clothes will last you longer, look better and eventually cost less since you don't NEED to buy more clothes every now and then. @@hespokestyle I did! Also got complimented a lot. The fit was great and this just makes a huge change in the overall look. Money well spent, I'm really happy with it.
Great video, really learned a lot. But I had a question about what you're wearing in this video. How does your shirt stay like that? How can I wear a suit and shirt, (no tie) and the shirt not slip under the collar of the jacket? Is it the shirt you're wearing? Is it the fit of the shirt? Is it the material of the shirt? Or even the design of the collar? Helpe out if you can. Thanks.
Please suggest me a good clean shave trimmer? Which worked well for me in the job.The one who gets zero clean shave. Please tell the name of the trimmers? need more links
When buying a suit, would you be able to use both the dress pants and the suit blazer seperatly? Or is it a general rule that those 2 pieces should only be weared together due to "usage signs"?
Regards tip 4. I would say if you're growing up or building up muscle/ losing weight, you probarbly just go for some budget buy first. God knows how your physique changes during the time. Finding a tailor afterwards would cost more. So best suggest someone in a stable physique to pay for a quality/ expensive clothing.
What if you are a bigger guy. I think this is the hardest thing, the fitted attire shows more than I want. I’m still losing weight but in the meantime it is hard. Any suggestions.
Like the video a lot, really great advice. However I take issue with the maxim "you get what you pay for." Because you often don't! That's the whole point. You don't get what you pay for because there are a bunch of dishonest brokers looking for a cash grab instead of producing honest quality, getting away with whatever the market will bear. It's hard to give exact examples, but think of a mid-level department store suit from an established international mega brand. Like say Hugo Boss at Macy's. Now compare that suit to a standard offering from outfits like Suit Supply, Oliver Wicks, Cavour, Spier & Mackay. The quality from these is way better for a similar price. You definitely do not "get what you pay for" with the former. And luxury brands are the often the worst - there might be some redeeming qualities, perhaps the general aesthetic, silhouette etc. But the craftsmanship might be quite basic and the mark up ridiculous, just cynically taking advantage of vain people looking for a status buy, making us pay for marketing and smoke and mirrors. You do of course say that going for quality is one of your keys, looking for the best quality in your price range. But I think "you get what you pay for" are not words to live by, in clothing or in any other consumer arena,. Because often what you pay for is a bunch of b.s.. You need to be vigilant to find the best quality/price ratio.
You're absolutely correct, Michael. "Luxury" brands notwithstanding, however, if you ARE considering quality/materials, you generally are getting what you pay for.
@@hespokestyle I liked it a lot, especially Tommy Lee Jones's character. The movie reminded me a bit of Hell or High Water (2016). I'd recommend that movie as well

I mostly agree with what you said in this video except one thing, "Confidence." I am a firm believer that true confidence never comes from wearing good clothes, dressing sharp, and becoming a stylish man, etc. Sure, stylish wardrobe makes you feel a little bit happier about your current lifestyle even if important things in life are not necessarily going well. If someone tells you wearing good clothes makes him/her feel confident, I would probably interpret it as a sign of insecurity and subconscious dependence. It is closer to truth to say, "interpersonal trust engenders confidence", "Unconditional love makes you truly confident", etc. It's hugely mistaken to say, "Wearing good clothes makes you confident." UNTRUE.
Appreciate your feedback. However, Ive heard over and over and over again from readers, viewers, and friends that dressing well makes them feel more confident.

@@hespokestyle I did! Also got complimented a lot. The fit was great and this just makes a huge change in the overall look. Money well spent, I'm really happy with it.
YoniBonzi great to hear!
Great - one of the best videos - thanks a lot! 👌
Thank you! Means a lot. Appreciate the comment.
You are inspiration!!
Thanks.
Sound advice, as usual!
Thanks, Simon. Glad you enjoyed.
very nice video!lots of love from andhra pradesh, india!
Many thanks!
Well said bro...

Hi Brian, could I get your advice on what type of shoes to wear with a seersucker suit? Also, socks or no socks.
Thanks a bunch!! - Trevor
Dear Brian,
Does a brown sport coat go well with tan chinos?
Yes. But depends on the fabric
When buying a suit, would you be able to use both the dress pants and the suit blazer seperatly? Or is it a general rule that those 2 pieces should only be weared together due to "usage signs"?
Another I impressive video...stay tailored.....
nice
Thanks, Khalid!
What do you think about wearing poplin in fall/winter? Great video btw!
Nothing wrong with it, but I'd probably throw on a v-neck sweater for warmth! Thanks for the comment and support.
Hi Brian, nice video. I wanna ask another movie question haha. Have you seen No Country for Old Men, and if you have what did you think about it
Thanks! And yes I have. It's great. I saw it when it first came out.
@@hespokestyle I just saw it a few days ago, wanted to see it ever since it came out
@@legoguru3000 And what did you think?
@@hespokestyle I liked it a lot, especially Tommy Lee Jones's character. The movie reminded me a bit of Hell or High Water (2016). I'd recommend that movie as well
@@hespokestyle I was like 8 when no country came out haha so I couldn't really go see it. Wish I at least asked my parents though haha
Do a review of itailor overcoats please
Never heard of them. You have experience with that brand?
@@hespokestyle There are an online mtm. I emailed them and they said their suits are $360cad half canvas 100% wool fabrics. I wanna buy an overcoat from them for $240cad. ITailor.com
Code thekavilier3 for I think 5% off.
I live in a tropical climate that's 33 degree every day. What should I wear for work?
Lanjut.
Good
I didn‘t watched the whole video yet, but i already know it will be great👍🏻
Thanks, Yannick!
I mostly agree with what you said in this video except one thing, "Confidence."
I am a firm believer that true confidence never comes from wearing good clothes, dressing sharp, and becoming a stylish man, etc.
@@hespokestyle Thanks for reading my comment. Arigato gozaimasu.

I would never look good if I were a chocolate eclair. I have worn the same three pairs of pants for the past 8 years. I am the pig AND the lipstick. Love the channel, though l know I can never look good.
One thing I believe: Fit is King, and physical fitness is God
Thanks brain for the advice ❤️🙏✨😎👍
You’re very welcome. Always remember these six things!!
Im not sure that your beige jacket has even 3 varients as it looks good only with white trousers. But its thing which isnt similar to other worth to be bought
🧐
@@hespokestyle what does the smile mean?
@@hespokestyle I would like to say that if a thing can be used in the only one look but the look is great and distinctive that it will be good purchase
@@denysk4933 That's not a smile. That's a questioning look. And I don't agree that a khaki colored jacket only looks good with white trousers: ua-cam.com/video/fcDfsJ-Vgxc/v-deo.html
@@denysk4933 I suspect you are not the target viewer for this video. I agree that a singular, unique, or statement piece can be a good buy, for the person just starting out, it's a no-go.
👌
You are excelent brillant consejero un suits and TIES MENS ,CORBATERO
Is too late for some , who has retired, away from the corporate world.
Not really digging that the vibe of this channel is slowly starting to remind me of those bigger style channels here. Especially the thumbnail, first 10 seconds of the videos, transitions with a sound effect, etc. I get it, you want to grow your business so you do what you gotta do, you cannot please everyone. Good luck!
Thanks, Henri. Don’t worry, you’re going to get the same content, outfits, and so on.
I’m 14 yr old and I have like 8 suits lmao. Thanks Brian to be like my big stylish brother
You got it, my man!
