🐈Really have to do some catching up on Alexis Hall too! This really helped me with deciphering the moods of the different books so I have a better idea for what I want to go depending on my mood 😊
Hardcore Ashley fan, but also Alexis Hall Stan. A Lady For A Duke is probably in my top 5 romances ever. And I mean I love Boyfriend Material too, but ALFAD is next level romance.
I’m so glad that you made this video!! I’ve only read one of Alexis Hall’s books and that was A Lady For a Duke and I LOVED IT!! I’ve been wanting to try more but didn’t know what I’d enjoy so hearing your summaries and thoughts really helped!!
Well I hate to tell you this, but you've started with the best! The rest of his stuff is delightful, though, so you're in for a good time anyway. And honestly, you can't go wrong with any of his books.
Because of this video I got "10 things that never happened " I listened to the audiobook and I am now HOOKED. This was a 6 out of 5 stars for me . I did not want it to end .
🐱🐈🐈⬛ I really enjoy your vlogs! (hashtag hardcore fan? lolz) Especially when it's books I wouldn't see myself reading (like Alexis Hall) because I like seeing others enjoying them. And that way I learn what they're About without reading them myself 😈
That's why I like reading vlogs, too! I get so curious about some books that I just don't want to read but I want to know what they are about and what people are saying about them. But then I see other people reading them and sometimes it persuades me to read them, also, so it might be slightly counterproductive.
I've only read 10 things that never happened which I started the audio book while at work which I liked (the narrator did amazing) so I decided to get the physical book and I could barely get through it.
I'm so glad that you did this video, because I've been on the fence about both Husband Material and 10 Things That Never Happened, and now I really want to read/listen to both of them. I remember a lot of people being disappointed with Husband Material when it came out, mainly because I think they expected Boyfriend Material 2.0 and this was a different thing, which didn't live up to a lot of people's expectations. But I really would like to dip into that world again, mainly because Luc and Oliver's friend group was among my favourite things about Boyfriend Material, and I am absolutely up for more shenanigans with all of them. You mentioned that 10 Things That Never Happened is inspired by While You Were Sleeping, which is also one of my favourite all-time rom coms (I just don't love any of the ones starring Meg Ryan as much as everyone else seems to - don't get me started on You've Got Mail), and I'm very curious to see how this whole fake amnesia plotline plays out. Can I read it before Husband Material, or should they be read in order? I watch and like all your videos, and you also have the honour of being the only vlogger whose videos I watch. I have very little interest in random stranger's opinions about books, but since we at one point were book twins (I think we may be more like book cousins now, or slightly estranged siblings), pretty much anything you have to say about books is of interest to me. So while it sometimes takes me a while to get through a video (I often watch only about 10 minutes at a time, because life happens), I always watch them, and like them.
Malin, I believe I have learned this about you before so we shall not speak of it further--You've Got Mail is one of my all-time favorite movie films. You need to read 10 Things! And it's really a loose inspiration, but yes you can definitely see how he's pulling from some of the same themes. Sam is definitely Sandra Bullock, but there isn't really a Bill Pullman, sadly. Husband Material is worth it, I think. It's still so funny and his friends are great, it's just not a romance. It's not swoony. It's a relationship book. I will take book cousins! It's my fault, I read too much horror now and my tastes are veering ever weirder lol.
Oh, and you can read them in any order, really. We do briefly meet Jonathan (the hero in 10 Things) in Husband Material. But if you did it backwards, you'd just be like, oh, that's Jonathan!
@@theanswerisbooks Gah! A relationship entirely founded on emotional infidelity on both sides is not romantic. No, lots of people love this film and the one billion books that basically retell the same story clearly attest to that. I just can't with the whole premise. The older I get, the more unattractive super rich heroes also get for me. That probably doesn't help.
🐈 I share your thoughts re: Husband Material. Loved Boyfriend Material. Didn’t know 10 things existed so will be reading it immediately. I stand by Lady Marleigh in Lady for a Duke being one of my favorite AH characters. I love characters with dry humor who DGAF.
oof, I immediately got 10 Things That Never Happened on audiobook (especially since my long distance ex-ex lives in Sheffield now). But I wanna read all of them, dayum. What are you doing to me Ashleeeeeeey? :) I love your blogs btw and I watch all of them and I think they're delightful. The orgy bit was hilarious, also convinced me to get on THAT series. Mortal Follies is the only one I'd read and I also rated it 4 stars, it was super fun :) 😼😼
Romance isn't one of the genres I gravitate towards, but these all sounder good! Maybe it's the humor. I enjoyed the Alewives because of that - lots of guffawing, enough to irritate the cats.
Oh yes, all his books have laugh out loud moments (which is rare for me), and even the more serious ones still have very funny moments in them. If you're interested, I'd recommend Boyfriend Material (contemporary) or A Lady For a Duke (historical) as good starting places.

Always glad to be of service!
I’m dying with the night guard

A Lady For a Duke is a perfect book and I will fight anyone who disagrees with me.

James Royce Royce and James Royce Royce!!!

Awwwww this makes me so happy! 🥰 Now you have to read A Lady for a Duke!
@@theanswerisbooks my library doesn't carry it so looks like I will be ordering it ! Audiobook or physical copy ?
@@alexslocum4681 i did the physical. I don’t think I’ve heard anyone talk about the audio?
