I was watching early on and almost spoke out loud to myself, “He’s gonna have fun with the swing arm and linkage.” Loved seeing the rusty needle bearing parts on the floor! Your not a dirt bike mechanic until you experience the pain of what you went through. Since I rebuilt a KX125 a few years back, my current bike’s been maintained like a champ. Great video.

That odd item inline after the coil was an I-cat spark booster. It supposedly collected the wide spark pulse and condensed it for a more effective and precise pulse with greater magnitude. I tried it back in the day and it instantly removed a slight detonation I had been experienced and never fouled another plug the rest of the time I owned the bike. 🤷🏻‍♂️

Best thing to do on a use race bike tear it all down. The stuck axle, swingarm bolt, along with linkage being rusted/welded in place. BEFORE purchase check on OEM Parts availability.

Holy crap. Honestly i couldnt be more jealous of the us dirtbike market. In the uk it will cost you £2000 for a older running bike that need some work. Over there you get 2010s on bikes for half that. An part availability is way better too.

yeah before you know it you buy a bike thinking "it only needs a top end" or a "new spark plug" or even gas but then you figure out it needs a lot more work, and you end up with the bike all apart good luck!

I think it’s great that you have made the attempt to re build this bike but obviously you are very new at this. When you start a build like this you need to with the engine. Main bearings, main seals, impeller seal, rod bearings/rod kit. Take the whole engine out of the frame so you can assess the situation.
You made more work than necessary.

Why didn't you use penetrant and some thin lubrication to take out the swing arm axel.. the axel might've got less hit from the hammer

Hey Kincade, I've recently gotten into watching these types of videos and your channel is my favorite. You have a great presence in front of the camera and do great video work along with showing the process. I used to ride 2 strokes between 15 and 26 but then got into mountain biking. I'm about 50 now and will be retiring soon. This looks like a great hobby to take up (buying old motocross bikes and fixing them up) but I'm pretty inexperienced. Do you have any advice for me getting up to speed quickly on learning how to do this or do I just need to jump in and get started and figure it out on my own?
