That marker definitely bled through to the table. HAHAHA! Great video! I am going to incorporate this into my system!

This is a fantastic idea and I'm on my way to the store! Still, if you stapled or siliconed the screen onto the can you'd save the price of the spline and the planting ring, and cut the cost to less than $25.00! I'm going to cut a hole int the top and funnel my gutter rainspout in--STILL 25.00! I'll take the money I save and use it to buy a water spigot that I can attach to the bottom of the can. We'll attach a hose so my wife can water the garden. Thanks!

HELP...... The planting ring is out of stock and Amazon wants $89 for three. I found a planting ring that is not connected it's more like a roll of plastic ring. Will it work if it is not one connected ring? you guys are so smart but I refuse to pay Amazon $89.

Great video! You all should make an updated version with activated charcoal pellets in the bin. It would help you and your plants, switching a half cups or less if light rain or more if heavier rain and switch out every time it rains or every 24 hrs. It will absorb a lot of bad stuff. Also recommend drinking thins water after that with a lifestraw filtered bottle & or brita.

The rings are so expensive if you can find them I came up with my own design. Found a Recycling bin garbage can that has a snap on lid at Walmart for $22. Add the spigot, Cut out the inner circle of the lid, put landscaping fabric over the can, put large rubber band on fabric then snapped on the lid. It works great.

Cool idea indeed! One wonders if keeping the top of the rain barrel wide open (although covered with the mesh) increases water loss through evaporation?

How do you get the water out? Scoop it out or did you put a tap at the bottom?

Setting the cannon on elevated blocks and inserting a downspout would not increase your cost much and make it easier to access your water. Great idea, thanks!
