    Absolutely the best videos by a "Car Salesman" on the Internet! Thank you Peter.
    My wife and I have a 2018 Kia Niro Touring. Love virtually everything about the vehicle including the additional safety tech alluded to in this review. The Touring Model also has heated rear seats AND a 115 Volt Electrical Outlet in the back. The front seats are both heated and ventilated. The cooled leather seats were really nice on the hot days of summer.
    Biggest gripes with the Niro??? It's Kia Canada's insistence on Black Interiors. I mean come on. How many warranty claims have manufacturers ever had for interior colour? It's just another SKU number to put in your system to offer the Light Grey interior available in the Niro in other markets. I don't care if they want to provide all dealer stock with black interiors BUT at least let me order the vehicle I WANT if I'm prepared to wait for it to be shipped from Korea. The other gripe is that although the Steering Wheel and Seats are heated, they're pretty slow to come up to temp compared to other vehicles I've been in, even on the highest setting, but they do get there eventually. That's about it for negatives. Like Peter mentioned, it's relatively easy to exceed the stated fuel economy in these Niros. The Touring Model is the LEAST efficient Niro due to it's larger wheels and tires along with the weight increase associated with the extra options. The "Official Canadian Rating for this model is 5.4 litres/100 km. Over our first 5,800 kilometers, we have averaged 4.69 litres/100 km "true mileage", ie every fill-up tracked in a spreadsheet as opposed to the onboard GOM (Guess-O-Meter) which indicated we achieved a more optimistic 4.5 litres per 100 km. Overall, we LOVE our Niro!

      Thanks for your short but informative "owner review", I wish there were more owners like you who would take time out to share their experiences with the car. I am seriously considering this car, we only get the drab and miserable black interior which is a negative for me as I prefer the cream interior, it makes the cabin feel more airey and gives it a more premium feel. I wonder if you can advise whether there is sufficient space in the luggage compartment to accommodate a medium size dog (Labrador size)?

    I saw someone driving this the other day and kinda liked it. It may lack the styling of the Toyota CH-R or cool look of the Kona, but that MPG for the price sounds pretty appealing. Im single and this looks a bit more of a family car, so we'll see.

    • @BrantfordKia
      @BrantfordKia  4 роки тому

      It's worth a test drive! I don't like to categorize vehicles as "single person's car" or "family car" as these cars are great for a whole lot of people. If you're an active single, the roof racks are great to take things like bikes, kayaks, or skis. The features inside can get pretty luxurious too, and you don't have to have a family to appreciate that! You may also be interested in the Kia Seltos if you like the CH-R or the Kona. Lots of options for you!

    This very complete review is on the 2019 Kia Niro Hybrid, on the 3rd out of 5 trims. Sometimes he'd say if it was just new on the 2019. But, to owners of the 2018 or 2017 Kia Niro years, and/or lower trims, I'd be curious to hear -- have most of these very cool & intuitive-sounding things just been introduced in the 2019, or do you also have them? Maybe Brantford Kia has done a walk-around for those years' models, too? I'd welcome anyones' comments about whether their slightly older models come close to these pinnacles?! Such as...handling, lumbar-smart seats, warning lights in your side view mirror, very clear rear camera quality, smooth brakes, etc. I'm grateful for this great detail in any case, but now, would I be happy with anything less in comparison?! - Thanks, Kathleen

    • @BrantfordKia
      @BrantfordKia  5 років тому

      There are no real changes between this model and the previous Kia Niro's. So anything that is said in this video should be accurate for previous model years. I hope that helps! The best thing to do is to test drive one. If you're anywhere near Brantford Ontario, we'd be happy to help!

    What's the cost to replace the hybrid battery, (including battery charge and service labour) when its time to do so after the 10yr warranty expires?

    • @BrantfordKia
      @BrantfordKia  5 років тому +4

      Another great questions, and this is going to sound like a rude answer, but.... it doesn't matter. It doesn't matter what the cost is today, because the hybrid related components have such a long warranty. The real question is what will everything cost when the warranty is done, and IF the battery or some other component fails, and that's nearly impossible to predict because of the speed in which batteries like this are coming down in price. Ten years ago, a car like this with this type of battery would be exponentially more expensive to bring to market than it is today. We know that Electric Vehicles, and energy dense, large batteries that can power vehicles are a real growth area in the automotive industry and other industries, and that will only serve to bring costs down further. As far as labour costs, the battery is very easily accessible under the rear seat of the car. It would not appear to be a difficult job to replace it from a labour perspective. One other thing to remember, hybrid vehicles as a class have been some of the most reliable vehicles on the road for a long time. I hope that helps, even if it's not the answer that you want.

    • @m2t2
      @m2t2 5 років тому +3

      @@BrantfordKia My 2005 Prius is a great example to illustrate your point. The cost to replace a battery in the last 2000's was nearly $8000, but it would have been under warranty most of the time. I finally had to replace my battery after 320,000 miles - well past the warranty; However the cost for a reconditioned battery with a 5 year warranty was $1,550. I didn't hesitate since all three hybrids I have owned have been extremely reliable and had significantly lower maintenance costs over the lifespan.

    • @BrantfordKia
      @BrantfordKia  5 років тому

      All of our cars are crash tested, and Kia's consistently score among the highest vehicles in crash safety scores. Although large batteries in cars are new to some people, there have been decades of vehicles with hybrid batteries on the road. One thing that people almost never ask about is how safe is a tank full of flammable liquid in a crash? Gasoline fumes can cause an explosion in a crash, but people have come to accept that risk, and don't even think about it.

    Does this have remote start? Is it AWD?

    • @BrantfordKia
      @BrantfordKia  5 років тому +1

      They don't make a factory remote start on the Kia Niro. Probably because it's a Hybrid car and many people who buy it value the low emissions operation of the car, and very few people would opt for this feature on that car. It is also not AWD. If you're looking for a great AWD alternative, I would suggest the Kia Sportage. They are similar in size, you can get a remote start option, and you can even get one with UVO intelligence which is an App on your phone with many features including remotely starting your vehicle, turning on the defroster, the heated steering wheel and other features. Hope that helps!

    Is there any way to get an LX or EX without the roof rails? I'd like some of the options not available on the FE trim, but the FE trim gets the best MPG due to not having roof rails. Also the FE is limited in colors whereas the LX and EX have a better selection of colors.

    • @BrantfordKia
      @BrantfordKia  5 років тому +1

      The very slight fuel economy difference between the trim levels has been explained to me as mostly due to the weight difference between trims. I don't think you'll notice much of a measurable difference in fuel economy by simply removing the roof rails. The one thing that I always suggest with hybrid or electric vehicles is to not fall in love with the powertrain, but to make sure you love the car as well. Saving pennies in fuel, but giving up a feature or colour, or system that would make your ownership experience more enjoyable is rarely worth it when we talk to customers down the road.
