Can’t thank y’all enough for putting together this video, made changing my RX75 primary belt so much easier.

Very much appreciated the video. The JD shop wanted to charge $400+ for the job since they insisted the back end needs to be dropped in order to replace the drive belts. My dad and I completed the job with the help of your video for the cost of the belt, and some busted knuckles. Thank you for taking the time to create the video... it was both entertaining and helpful.

Good thing I found this video. Never worked on a RX75 before but I had one come in my shop that needed belts. Boy you aren't a kidding when you say they are hard to work on. Any other mower is takes me maybe 20-30 minutes top to change out the belts. That thing took me around 4 hours of cussing and alot of beer.

HAPPY 8TH BIRTHDAY to this awesome video! I used it 3 years ago for my mower deck belt, and again today - July of 2024 to do my variator drive belts. Job done, $$$ saved, skills learned! Taryl, YOU ARE THE MAN! I'd buy you a beer if you didn't live on the dag-blasted internet. 😁👍

I am French I own this tractor. I was able to fix it thanks to you. I ordered the primary and secondary belts through your references in the USA. they are of very good quality. I just have the brake to repair, a pad and fell with the two small cylinders. Thanks for your help, it was really helpful! moreover I laughed a lot with the beers. good for you

Hey Taryl, Thanks for the video! I'm working on a John Deere RX63 (old dude) my father in law gave me 20 years ago. I used it for a while till a drive belt broke. I tried to fix it by raising the rear end with a block and tackle rig but it was too hard to work on like that. It's been sitting under the house for 6 or 7 years and I decided to fix her up to use at my 95 y.o. dads house after seeing your video. He uses a cane now and can"t mow so I'm hoping to use it here in Fla. It's a lot like the RX75 so your video is a masterpiece for guidance. I took the deck down yesterday and ordered new belts but they won't be here for a week. The back tires dry rotted so I have new AG tires to put on the back while I'm waiting for belts to come in. I watched your video on changing tires with the mini tire changer from Harbor Freight. I have one and going to mount it to my workbench today. It'll come in handy since I have a small boat trailer, another mower (3 wheel Ride King) and hand trucks/wheelbarrows! That video was great too! Thanks again, Dale

This mower is a pain to work on and makes me want to sell it. But thanks to your video, I was able to replace the deck belt and a pulley with a bad bearing. This might help someone - what I did with the deck pins was take a sharpie and mark which way the hole is positioned on the side. Makes it less tricky.

Thanks Taryl, great video. This helped more than you know. Today I changed the drive & deck belts on a John Deere GX95…..what a PITA to work on. I also installed the AM 107421 starter relay. Oil change tomorrow morning and she’s down the road. On to the next one!

I was climbing the walls trying to get the mower belt on the front sheave of RX95 and finally saw your video forcing the belt on while pulling on the arm and rotating the mower blade! Boom - its on. I actually tied the spring loaded brake are away with a chunk of rope so I could force the belt through with both hands! Thx!

You make is look so easy; but, it was a royal pain to do it. Something that you knocked out quickly, took me 6 hours because the genuine belts I ordered were wrong. In addition, the mower belt was wrong too, as mine has the 38" deck. I'm not complaining, as it was given to me for free, but wow was it difficult. Still not done, as when I went to check that the deck belt was working properly, it wouldn't start up. I suspect it's the relay switch, but that will wait till tomorrow. Thanks again for putting out a funny and informative self help video.

Funny short story of my own. I watched this video about two months ago and was like damn.. That's a tough job.. Couple weeks later my dad bought one. Runs great and cuts great. Problem is... It kicks off the primary every once in a great while.. Deck kicked off once too so far. So guess what.. I watched it again because guess what I'll be doing soon. You got it, this is my dinner! Thanks Tary'l and Jr. You guys are awesome! Lol. 👊👍

Just replaced all my belts on my RX73 using your video. Even with the great tips it was still a MFer LOL. I got lucky all my bearings and idlers were in great shape and am I ever glad! That idler above the transaxle for the primarty belt looks like it would be a total bastard to get off. Only way I could see to do it would be lower the transaxle a couple inches, a job for a much cooler day when the time does come. Anyway, thanks for the great tips, you saved me a fair amount of blood loss.

Thanks for the video. Made a couple mistakes and had a wrong pin in the deck that cost me some time. Otherwise sailed through pretty easy after watching the vid.

I've ended up in the dentists chair in that condition more than once. Took twenty men with pick and shovel to extract my tooth. Had to hire a cheap lawyer afterwards. (Sorry, too many Stooges references there). Changing those drive belts sure is a knuckle buster, on top of having to jerk off another mower deck. Glad there was a happy ending. Changed the belts on my J.D. last fall. Almost as painful as visiting the dentist. Thanks for another funny, educational video!

Great video. I could add that removing the left rear wheel gives you more room. Also, removing the spring for the secondary belt idler pulley is safer. Using an automotive drum brake spring tool works fine for removing and reinstalling the spring. A lot safer than shown in the video.
