When my mum found her moxie and started cussing back at my dad after he’d drop me off home and have a few words with her in private I was a teen and could work out more of what they were saying in Hungarian, the things my mum in particular would come up with were so hilarious I was hard to not to laugh out loud because I was not supposed to be listening. It made what used to be scary totally less traumatic experience for me after then. Her quick ascorbic wit earned Mum much respect from me from then on.

I managed to translate hands and stinky well enough but the rest of it was over my head. It’s been a long time since I had someone to speak Hungarian to when my mum died and even then, because my family had lived in Australia since before I was born here in the mid seventies. My Hungarian is more of a sub dialect developed from when I was a toddler with my mum so I’m embarrassed to speak Hungarian though I’m kindly told I’m understood 😂.
