thanks for bringing this video out, I feel like people are sleeping on spirit kunai. I've been using this build to speed through gold and i run the stealth charm as it can roll with 20% ghost weapon damage
Gave this build a try and ended up getting a zero down run on nightmare survival, this is my new build for sure. I also have to say how fun it is while everyone is slashing the last enemy of the wave then throwing your kunai in and stealing the kill 😂
Using the stealth charm you can get more kunai damage But I suggest getting more cooldown Having 49-60% more damage on the kunai will get you 6 segments of damage on an enemy with them However Having 16% on the caltraps will get you 5 segments of a health bar and putting 15% cooldown reduction and 4 seconds on kill on the kunai plus stealth charm at 10% cooldown and 2 second on kill will leave you with a 1.5 second cooldown with just one kunai kill which means while you smack an enemy down with way of the flame you get it back just in time to finish them off Not to mention that it takes like 2 kills to get it back if you wiff them Hope this helps!
Hmm, that's a very interesting idea actually. I like it! However, remember that the kunai isn't the only thing that loses damage. The bomb pack, way of the flame, and (for what it's worth) caltrops will also lose a bit of damage. I would also lose my larger heal circle. In exchange though, I get my kunai back faster which means I can get my other cooldowns back faster as well... the idea definitely has merit and sounds like a solid build! We get our cooldowns back faster but they'd be weaker. The bombs have no cooldown though, so they'd just be weaker with no positive result. I like the idea a lot but I think I'll stick with my own. Very smart build though! Thank you for sharing

@@GaroShadowscale I'm hoping you are trolling me. I loved the vid but it's already a relic. If you haven't please check out the game with all the new stuff, even if it's just to look
Love your build. I'm actually using a resolve based build that allow me to spam my ult every 8-10 second without having to rely on bombs that much. Just get 50% resolve gain when damaged and damage reduction on healing gourd and you can just spam your ult every few seconds. Make survival nightmare trivial lol.
Ahhh, a tanky ronin build! Sounds cool! Maybe you'd also like the last breath charm that revives you with 50 hp if you die on a 5 min CD. If I'm not mistaken, it also has damage reduction as a possible perk
Have you tried running the other variation of this build with double legendary, switching out the water katana for stone striker? Bit more bombs dependent so have to run munitions, but run melee dmg and oni dmg. Pop way of the flame and disintegrate Oni enemies!
I tried stone striker for a bit. Heavenly strike is nice and gives you a way to spend spare resolve, but I don't like how killing enemies in stone stance has a longer animation before you can get out unlike water stance. This is a problem when the hwatchas get involved at nightmare difficulty. Also, I miss the heal over time perk. It's just so good for team and self support
Very similar to my build. But I use stealth charm and caltrops for the Weapon damage. I can use my Kunai on armored archers and one shot them. With a single bomb into the center of a group I can even use the Kunai on the heavy shield brutes. It also recharges all of my abilities constantly so AOE range on my healing ring isn’t important.
I play more defensive style. I run a Master Katana with Moon Master, a Ronin Charm, Mist of Yagata, and sticky bombs. For me that Katana helps out tremendously, being able to switch from all four styles allows me to utilize all the weaknesses of my enemies.
Thank you! And I'll try! I want to do builds for all the classes, but I want to make sure I get them right and do a very good job! I've played tons of samurai and ronin but not so much hunter and assassin, so those vids might take me a bit more time, but I will do my best to get to them asap
this is (almost) my main build, and ive loved it for a while. I went with a stealth charm with super armor though for more damage increase and to be able to be uninterrupted in melee. I didnt know about way of the flame being buffed with all the dmg increase though! Thanks for the info, time to change my build!
You're very welcome! And yes, stealth charm is the alternative if you want even more ghost weapon damage since it's the only charm that offers that as a possibility. I WISH the ronin charm did too. Honestly it makes no sense that it doesn't considering Ronins are the best ghost weapon users. Oh well
@@GaroShadowscale Hey! So i tried Way of the flame on a water katana and, you're right about the damage being a bit higher than just going Water Master. In fact, I was thinking of trying to maximize damage by rerolling a stealth charm until I can get DMG increase/Status effect damage/Fire Master all together. (hopefully all of those perks stack). What I was wondering is how you implement way of the flame in game. Im having trouble in this weeks nightmare survival with popping the WotF and actually having it last long enough for me to not get interrupted and only hit them 1-3 times. Any suggestions? or maybe its not ideal in Survival? Or I was thinking i might even just ditch Fire master and just stick to Super armor so I'm not interrupted. Lemme know what you think
@@laurencemarcas7962 I use it when I'm fairly confident that I'm not gonna be interrupted the second I pop it. Plus, even while you're spamming strikes on an enemy with way of the flame enabled, if another enemy attacks you in the meantime, you can cancel that fast combo into either a perfect parry or dodge then kill or significantly injure both targets
@@GaroShadowscale thanks I’ll try to be more aware of when to use it. I only recently learned you can parry during your own combo, I gotta keep that in mind. Btw this weeks nightmare story mode is perfect for the WotF water katana, everything just melts to it.

GaroShadowscale the information on the bomb pack and way of fire were game changing for me so hats off to you for letting us know it will increase damage for those!
Yoo did you do that on purpose? When you were talking about the spirit bear gnawing, shaking around, and tossing, the raptor in the corner did the same animation. If so hats of to you for the detail Edit: after paying more attention to the raptor it seemed to follow your speech so that makes it make more sense. First video of yours I’ve watched I’ll be watching more in the future
I've been running ronin charm with the ability to summon a healing spirit dog. The cooldown reduction you get off of kunai kill causes me to sometimes have up to 3 healing dogs active at one time.
You must be referring to lower difficulties. The spirit dog cooldown is about 50% longer than the healing incense. You'd have to get a ridiculous amount of double kills with the kunai very quickly to be able to pull off multiple spirit dogs, and that's just not realistic to achieve consistently on raid/nightmare
@@GaroShadowscaleOn gold I have 3. On Raid and Nightmare I consistently have 2 dogs healing for long periods of time by opening engagements with groups of enemies by summoning the dog then throwing just a few bombs to lower the enemy hp and consistently get multi kills with kunai to summon the second dog. This allows me to taper the summoning of 2 dogs on and off by almost always having one summoned and the other almost done with its cooldown.
@@cultofpersonality1145 Hmm, bombs to reduce hp in an AoE then finish off with kunai. Ideally that could work, but what usually happens in my case is that squishy enemies are mixed in with tankier oni, so I can't bring everyone to low hp at the same time. Either I kill the squishier ones while whittling down the oni or I try to just weaken the squishies enough but can't get the autotargetting on the kunai to target the specific 2 low squishy targets I want it to target when in a group fight. Plus I'd probably run out of bombs very fast if I was constantly doing that with every encounter. Glad to hear it works for you though! Edit: Though that is interesting regarding the tapering of the summons. Sounds like you'd maybe only have to get this set up at the start of each wave then you're good for the whole wave? 🤔
@@GaroShadowscale Yup, that's pretty much how my strategy goes. I start a fight with a fresh dog and end up usually having 1 dog, then 2, then the first dog expires, and I get another dog in for the remaining time of the leftover one. Although I must admit that I have friends I play with that are aware of my tactic and they frequently make sure I can get the kunai off at the right times to get the enemies I need. After you told me that the dogs have a higher cooldown I went back and tried the same strategy with the healing incense and I must say I prefer the incense now because I can overlap several incense on an objective point in Nightmare Survival at a time to aid in our samurai and assassin holding the point to be safe from the fire storm arrows.
I find super massive works more reliably than fired up, and the ghost weapon damage boost applies to the direct hit on the way of the flame, rather than the fire DoT itself afaik, which is why it still does bonus damage even if the enemies are immune to fire. Yes the burning over time would do somewhat more damage, but it's not worth giving up the extra 25 hp
Nice suggestion. That's all build videos are in my book are, "suggestions." I myself like a more defensive Ronin but, this gives me a nice suggestion on how to make mine more offensive. I like Damage Reduction, Injured Resolve Gain, Resolve Gain, and the Legendary I run is the Charm that gives extra 50% life instead of fatal damage with Health Increase. I also take a Gourd to increase injured resolve and ghost offering health plus strong brew along with health technique. I sustain well and handle point just fine until DPS backup arrives.
If you want to go full tank, then your setup will definitely work! You won't have any of the damage bonuses but you will be more survivable. I haven't had survivability issues with my build on nightmare or in the raid though. Have you considered damage reduction on the gourd instead of ghost offering health? Afaik the ghost offering health only affects those little ammo resupply locations on the map that heal you a bit, right? You can hold R2 while inspecting the gourd to check for yourself.
i have yet to get any decent legendaries, but would love to try this build out as soon as i can. what would you think of taking off soothing breath for a second legendary to use demon seed caltrops to get more damage out of the build
You could! I've heard of a combo like that. Makes it easier for you to get kunai kills too, but man that health regen is just so good for self and team sustain. It's up to you really, but personally I prefer keeping soothing breath on
Yup! Honestly I wish the game was more clear about that. Someone told me, and I tested it myself, and it's true! They'll even give you progress on the bonus objectives in survival that requre ghost weapon kills
You don't really have anything else to use your resolve on, you should have an ult when necessary, but if you don't have your ult ready, or maybe you used it just to heal earlier, then spam your bombs into a crowd and you'll get your ult back extremely quickly. Learn the locations of ammo resupplies on the map to get your bombs back quickly. Also the water stance combo is really fast so it helps you gain resolve quickly, especially with way of the flame which is unblockable
I just like having the utility of the masters katana personally. It fits how I play. I also tend to use stinky bombs with bigger radius than kunai. Kinda like an aoe stun plus a lot of damage.
Masters is definitely a very comfortable katana! Sticky bombs will do more damage and in a sizeable radius, but they do have a large cooldown. This build revolves around reducing your cooldowns as much as possible (thanks to the 15s reduction to all CDs when getting a kill with the spirit kunai) and capitalizing on the extra ghost damage as frequently as possible
Does spirit kunai decrease cooldowns by 15 seconds for each kunai that kills? For example if you throw 3 kunai and get 1 kill each is that a 45 second cool down decrease?
It definitely works for 2 kunai, as you saw at the start of the video. I've never tried it for 3 or more, but in theory it should work! Good luck actually getting 3 kills with one kunai ability use though
video was good, helpful tips for sure. If I could leave one piece of constructive criticism it would be this, perhaps consider moving your avatar to the right hand side of the screen in the Ghost videos. That way viewers can see all the items you are referring to.
Thank you! And that's a very fair point! I thought about putting myself bottom right but man I just love having the cam on the left. If it gets too obnoxious though, I can move it. Thank you for the suggestion
@@GaroShadowscale of course man, anytime. And if that is how your channel is normally I completely get it. I've been playing this DLC since day 1 and have a pretty good handle on things but I like seeing different builds in case I missed anything.
I’m currently running the exact same build except instead of soothing Breath I’m running 2 legendaries spirit Kunai/stone striker. I would probably skip the stone striker if I was doing the raid but for survival the heaven strike is nice ESPECIALLY on ronin. Plus you can get some use out of ronins resolve when you don’t need his ultimate.
That's fair! I've heard heavenly strike is decent. One of my friends actually runs it himself! I personally really like having water stance though and way of the flame is a must since it's a ghost weapon and benefits from all these damage bonuses and I can reduce the cooldown considerably thanks to spirit kunai
I think the raid is the fastest way to get quality drops and honor, particularly chapter 3 if you can consistently win it. Ofc you'd need a team of 4 for that. It shouldn't matter what class you play as. Just keep grinding and it should eventually drop
I don't understand what you say about the water katana. You say it's very fast and tears through enemies? I find the enemies blocking my attacks and hitting the same exact speed? Am I missing something? The master katana seems like a much better choice.
You don't need master katana. Water ofc is optimal for shield enemies. It tears through brutes and sword enemies as well. Sure, not as quickly as moon and stone stance, respectively, do but water stance is by far the most versatile stance. Not only does it perform amazingly in terms of damage but it's also a very fast combo that can be easily canceled if you need to dodge or parry. It only struggles against standard (not oni) spear enemies. For them, you can use way of the flame (which gets heavily buffed by all your ghost damage bonuses and is unblockable and gets a super low CD thanks to spirit Kunai) or throw a bomb to stagger them and follow up with your katana. If you run master's katana, you have to either give up spirit kunai or the heal on ult, both of which are too good to lose. Also, just in case this is what you mean, you're aware that water stance works best by holding triangle briefly then releasing triangle and mashing triangle for a 5-hit combo?
have a few questions, if bomb packs count as ghost weapon 1.Range Damage Increase Bomb Packs? 2.Oni Damage Increase Bomb Packs? 3.In Survival Nightmare DpS Ronin bomb spam which one you prefer Smoke Bomb (Cd reduc/on killed) with Munitions or Caltrops Increase ghost dmg
1) I actually don't know. I didn't test range weapon damage for bombs. I imagine it should work though 2) Against Oni, it should yes 3) Caltrops for the increased damage. If you want a safer build that's a bit tankier then you can run smoke bomb with munitions
@@GaroShadowscale well actually the point i used smoke is for generated more bombs, cuz my bombs for 3 spawn + 25 waves seem not enough (counted from 16 tombs in map) or you have any trip for manage bombs during mission?
Sorry, I haven't played in over a year so I don't remember. I know the bomb pack is a standard drop, but you might have to play as Ronin to get it to drop
For Ronin? You have 2 heals of your own and one of them gets lower cooldowns if you use the spirit kunai properly. Definitely take the 25 extra hp. If your ability heal isn't enough, consider running heal duration instead of the staggered damage modification I run
@@GaroShadowscale sry one more question.if u have legendary katana with 4 stances and burning blade would you swap out bottom technique to run 2 legendaries or no
I think I've gotten it in Survival and Story. I don't remember the classes but I know at least one of those times it wasn't Ronin. I'm pretty sure any class can get it from any mode
With my ronin build I use injured resolve gain as in nightmare somebodies going to go down soon or atleast need healing so I can constantly keep using my special
You definitely want to get your ult as quickly as possible! I find that spamming your bombs into a crowd of enemies is a solid way to charge a quick ult! Blast radius on the bombs definitely helps with that
Great build I need Spirit Kunai! I'm all about Spirit Animal I know the radius is smaller but honestly atm I don't care lol. The dog has helped me take down many Oni and brutes. It does great at holding the teleporting archer Onis so i can get the kill. I do wish we could give it commands but with healing bombs and 8seconds ultimate I'm doing ok until I get get all the stats I'm aiming for. ..Nightmare I run 5 resolve and incense pot tho.
That's fair! To each their own. I use flash bombs to hold down pesky enemies as shown in this vid, and sometimes I'll throw an individual bomb inbetween my sword attacks to stagger enemies like the purple halberd bois
@@GaroShadowscale i was using them and Kenjis Brew but I swear it wasn't healing nearby allies or it was so minimal I didn't notice lol. I figure once I get more legendaries and points to roll the specs I'm aiming for I'll switch stuff around for the task at hand. I love the fire ult but that 8seconds is hard to give up when so many players never come to your incense pots.
That's strange. I tested it last week on nightmare story. Without the perk the nightmare captain took 10 bombs to kill. With the perk, only 7. Unless they changed something with the raid patch, it should work. Are you sure?
@@GaroShadowscale i tested again and i stand corrected. It does in fact work on the bombs. I was also unaware that the damage increase applied across the board as well. Thanks man! Great stuff.
You just gotta grind. Make sure you're playing as ronin (or Samurai, in the case of the samurai charm) so that you have a chance of getting the ronin charm as a drop. Each class-specific charm only drops while playing as that class
Maybe you said it but this build,I think would not be for nightmare mode, because I find that tehq to make enemies weaker is more party friendly...If you want to stay behind then that bigger circle to heal is best part but legend bombs would be my choice for backrow play...anyway,great vid and keep it up
This is the build I use for nightmare and I used it to beat the raid day 1 as well. It's great support/healing, survivability, and damage. You usually want to save your bombs for farming a quick ultimate anyway, or to weave into sword combos to help with the much tankier enemies. You already have your heal circle and healing ultimate. You don't need healing bombs on top of all of that, but everyone has their preference And thank you! Will do
Max injured resolve gain with healing gourd, dmg reduction, total resolve gain, and the charm that weqkens enemies when they hit you along with 50% increased healing recieved and 25 more hp is literally unkillable. Just pop your ult and stand still in the middle of a zone on nightmare and you will be able to pop it again before the heal wears off. Just watch to use your gourd and ability heal incase multiple purple hammer onis start bashing you.
If you want to go super tanky with heavy healing, then by all means! This build is meant to have solid healing and tankiness while also capitalizing on the fact that added ghost weapon damage benefits Ronin immensely. He can do great damage if you want him to! He's also a great healer though
Honestly it shouldn't matter much if at all. I haven't tested it myself, but I heard there's a very small difference. I don't know for sure if that's true, but even if it is, you're fine with 105. Don't waste your KI if you already got the rerolls you want
Everyday I rebuild my Ronin and every day I think I'm going to beat Nightmare Survival. (Got to wave 22 yesterday with a weaken build.) I'll try this build asap.
Assuming the same/similar modifications, Healing incense is a bigger radius on a lower cooldown, and you can control the location more effectively. The spirit will give you a bit of CC as well, but it also costs you the extra 25 hp that this build gives. As long as you're not dying, and you feel like you have the healing for yourself and teammates when needed, the you're good. But since you're the healer/reviver, you really need to be the last one to die
Man I might have to do this build for more Ki. I love my assassin class, but I'm at 87 Ki struggling on Gold difficulty with a pretty badass build imo.
You just need to get better gear. When you're level 87 Ki gold is going to be hard. If you love assassin you should focus on assassin because resources take a long time to acquire so you gathering resources for multiple builds will slow down any of the builds getting completed.
I will say having ronins on your team can definitely help a lot! Their healing is absolutely insane; definitely the most broken and instrumental class in the game. I assure you that if you have a good ronin on your team with a build like this, your success rate will skyrocket. The resurrection ultimate and healing is just too good. Do try to get your KI up too though!
@@GaroShadowscale I agree. Those guys really pull through and save the day, especially with the resurrection perk. I always appreciate a good Ronin in my crew, but I gotta say that you definitely made the class look lo like a blast with this build. I might just use it anyway to have fun with it. Thanks for the great content!
You can, and even without parry window. But you shouldn't just be standing there just waiting for enemies to attack. You should be pressuring an enemy while always ready to perfect parry or perfect dodge a different enemy that attacks you while you're focusing on one enemy. Water stance combo is extremely fast and enables you to easily cancel your attacks into a perfect parry or perfect dodge. Plus, remember, Most oni attacks are red and unblockable. This build is intended for nightmare/raid difficulty, the endgame
Ah, sorry! I forgot to mention the alternative. You can use a stealth charm since that's the only one that you can get a "damage increase" buff with, to increase your kunai/caltrops/way_of_the_flame/bomb_pack damage even more! Definitely keep the same hp increase I used on the ronin charm. The other perk is up to you
@@eliasdonado Unless they changed it since the time of this video, I am 100% sure they do. Test it yourself. Using the stealth charm you can get more kunai damage
But
I suggest getting more cooldown
Having 49-60% more damage on the kunai will get you 6 segments of damage on an enemy with them
However
Having 16% on the caltraps will get you 5 segments of a health bar and putting 15% cooldown reduction and 4 seconds on kill on the kunai plus stealth charm at 10% cooldown and 2 second on kill will leave you with a 1.5 second cooldown with just one kunai kill which means while you smack an enemy down with way of the flame you get it back just in time to finish them off

Very nice build. I ran kind of the same build on my ronin for awhile. I'll tweak it a bit since you say way of the flame counts as a ghost weapon.
Thank you, and sure thing! Best of luck
That's fair! I just like to cover a whole point with healing both for myself and teammates

this is (almost) my main build, and ive loved it for a while.

Yoo did you do that on purpose? When you were talking about the spirit bear gnawing, shaking around, and tossing, the raptor in the corner did the same animation. If so hats of to you for the detail

Thank you! I'm really glad you enjoy my vids
Need to try this build, I can't seem to get much damage done with what I'm running. This helps alot
Sure thing! Good luck
does a bow and arrow or blowgun count as a ghost weapon?
I haven't tested, but I'm pretty sure they don't. And even if a blowgun did, its damage is extremely low
@@cultofpersonality1145 Makes sense! Thanks for the info
Great guide and really well presented! Liked and subbed.
Thanks! That means a lot to hear
What about having fire master? Doesn’t that bump up having kunai’s with fired up and way of the flame?
Impactful throws with super massive can be awesome to secure kills
Yeah but losing that extra 25 HP is painful at nightmare/raid difficulty
Great video man. Do you do videos on other classes?
You found the Samurai vid. I'm working on Hunter as we speak and hope to have that out tonight
i have yet to get any decent legendaries, but would love to try this build out as soon as i can. what would you think of taking off soothing breath for a second legendary to use demon seed caltrops to get more damage out of the build
You could! I've heard of a combo like that. Makes it easier for you to get kunai kills too, but man that health regen is just so good for self and team sustain. It's up to you really, but personally I prefer keeping soothing breath on

With 3 resolve and no perks to help you gain resolv fast, how you handle this build when people needs your ultimate ?
Bombs. Literally just bombs. Throw them into a group of enemies and you’ll get a huge amount of resolve per bomb.
@@floriangruhne6991 Yeah but it's limited.

I personally really like having water stance though and way of the flame is a must since it's a ghost weapon and benefits from all these damage bonuses and I can reduce the cooldown considerably thanks to spirit kunai
dude u're the best! i like u and subscribed
Thank youuuuu! I appreciate it
What's the best method to farm to try to get the spirit kunai?
@@GaroShadowscale yeah, I’m aware of the combo. I guess my question is: should I be doing that combo every time?
@@omnimaster1 Yup! Every time! It's the fastest combo

2.Oni Damage Increase Bomb Packs?
3.In Survival Nightmare DpS Ronin bomb spam which one you prefer

Caltrops Increase ghost dmg

2) Against Oni, it should yes
3) Caltrops for the increased damage. If you want a safer build that's a bit tankier then you can run smoke bomb with munitions

Would you say the 25 extra hp is the best option? What is your opinion on combat regen instead?
For Ronin? You have 2 heals of your own and one of them gets lower cooldowns if you use the spirit kunai properly. Definitely take the 25 extra hp. If your ability heal isn't enough, consider running heal duration instead of the staggered damage modification I run

You don't need healing bombs on top of all of that, but everyone has their preference
And thank you! Will do

If you want to go super tanky with heavy healing, then by all means! This build is meant to have solid healing and tankiness while also capitalizing on the fact that added ghost weapon damage benefits Ronin immensely. He can do great damage if you want him to! He's also a great healer though

Oh I don't remember. This was so long ago
You got an assassin build out yet?
Not yet. Hopefully within a few days
My spirit dog has a 95.5 healing radius... But are you saying the incense is better?

@@GaroShadowscale really? I've spent a ridiculous amount of time into this game yet it never dropped for me. I have like 40 legendaries and they're all duplicates of each other.
@@TheeDevilWearsPrada I know what you mean. I had several copies of every legendary charm in the game before I finally got the last breath legendary charm. RNG can just be a massive pain at times. Best of luck
