Just going through "iru hridayangalil onnay veeshi" (Malayalam & Jog) and suddenly it completely blended with "ayyankaru veetu azhake"(Tamil & Naatai) ,just searched and i am here , enjoyed and forgot why i am here...

forgive my ignorance, could someone please explain to me who this "Sreeranjini Kodampally" is? Has she won any major awards? I doubt if we can find better singers than this in the whole of India. What maturity of voice and the way she carries off the thala and layam without doing injustice to the sruthi is amazing - hats off.

there's a reason they say 'music has no language' or 'its the universal language'. it's cos there's something in a song beyond the lyrics.. its in the music itself. unfortunately, i see this is yet another vid with plenty of comments failing to understand this.
polite criticism and suggestions on the lyrics, they are perfectly fine. but my msg is to some folks here whom i label 'carnatic extremists' or purists: dont u see the importance of lyrics/poetry is to attach a meaning to the greater underlying beauty of music, and thats it ? its more like a cover for a book, in my opinion. why this argument about the bu/pu and tu/dus and the nuances of pronunciation and the sacredness of the words. it seems the singers have tried their best, and thats all i care. as far as i am concerned, i dont care if they replaced sanskrit/telugu by english, as long as the music is respected as sacred.
the music is nice, and thats it. good work, team.

Even in the concerts she uses light music and tries to convince people who are ignorant that it is classical music. She doesn't sound like a person who has good practice or experience in this raga. Singers should adapt to the pronunciation of the language in which the song is written. Tamil singers simply replace Pa with Ba, Ta with Da, Am with Au.. What is ganapadi? shouldn't it be ganapati

nisha tiwari There are different style of singing in Carnactic singing. If you look at how Yesudasji, Balamuralikrishnaji sings, its different. I am a fan of both. Every vocalist in hindustani music is also not the same

It may be not the style of singing you like. I do enjoy both singers.
+nisha tiwari it may be that some of the ragas are too complex and hard to render and the singer may be applying the utmost concentration to get it right. Hence the faces possibly, since I am no singer, some professional singers can correct me, if I am wrong.
+Praseen Preman I pretty sure they are using their head voice. the face tightening is to change the sound some using the muscles in the neck jaw cheeks and temple.
