  • Making a Padfolio Notebook. This video shows the making of a steno size (6x9) notebook but also applies to a full size notepad (8.5x11). The build of the two books is the same using our templates.

    Very well done. Have been a fan of yours for several years. Your videos have an ease about them; you’re never talking “down” to us but rather “to” us. Small detail but makes a huge difference. Your talent is very evident. Thank you. Hope you enjoyed your breakfast-for-dinner.... one of my favorite meals too. 🥓🥞🍳🍽 🤗🤗🤗

    You might also look at solder flux brushes that are used by plumbers for your glue application.

    Hi Aaron, I am very new to working with leather but like most falling in love with it very quickly. A couple questions though. Why didn't you cut the slit for the notebook before you adhered the lining to the notebook? 1. Wouldn't that have alleviated the worry of cutting/punching through? 2. Why use the middle binder piece as opposed to one solid piece for the front/back? I am sure the answers is just not something I have thought of due to lack of experience.

    • @makersleathersupply1220
      @makersleathersupply1220  3 роки тому +1

      I didn't cut the slit first because I like doing stuff the hard way. As far as the binding, it serves several purposes. 1. It makes it more decorative. 2. I can use something thinner where it will fold and makes the font easier. 3. Using a separate piece for binding means you only need 3 smaller pieces of leather and not one big one. Helps you use up more leather with less scrap.

    Thank you so much for making these videos! I have several of your patterns and they are just plain awesome to use. Is there any chance that you have some tooling patterns to go along with the full-sized padfolio? I am fairly new to leather work and am trying to find my style. I'm not quite good enough to draw my own floral or scroll work yet, but I'm working on it!!

  • @kmjordan05
    @kmjordan05 5 років тому +1

    I understand why you didn’t but you really should add the slit and punch holes to the template. Also if you wrap the other side of your sanding machine with canvas I bet you could burnish the heck out of some edges

    Hi Aaron, I am still looking at buying the cobra 26. In the mean time, hand sewing. For a project like this. What chisel/punch is best and size thread? Seems like I don’t have anything that I can stitch closely and have small enough holes for smaller threads.
    I bought all these templates and now I am starting to use them and watch your videos. .
    When burnishing like that where a piece is already attached I use my dremel with a cone shaped wood burnisher. It has a good sharp point to get in close and not damage the other piece.

    Thank you Aaron for the great video, can I please ask how much leather I would need to purchase for the full size Pad Folio and do you offer the different weights for this project by the SF, I really like the color your using? The reason I’m asking is my grandson is graduating college next month and I would love to make him a Pad Folio for his graduation present after seeing your video. I think this would make a great gift. I will be placing an order for the templates as well as the leather if available for this project, I’m hoping you sell smaller amounts of leather to complete the full size Pad Folio.
