After all this time I've been cleaning I had no idea you could screw the end off! Thankfully I hadn't been missing anything from the cleaning I had been doing anyway but this is a great tip. Not sure how I missed it in any instructions.
This did the trick! My steam wand had low pressure and wasn’t steaming correctly, even though the descale light was not on. Was as simple as cleaning the wand head! Thank you, Hoon! Your videos always come in handy for all my Barista Express troubleshooting needs 😅
Oh my gosh, thank you so much! I was having issues with my steam wand not spraying enough and getting way too hot (burning the milk). I had no idea what that little tool was even for. I also didn't know I could unscrew the end of the wand. Fixed the issue!
It worked! Was just about to throw away the espressos and take a trip to send back the machine.. but then I saw this and followed instructions and now I’m about to enjoy my coffee! Thanks 😄
There is a great technique you can use to clean old, hard, milk from the wand tip. Next time you use Cafiza to clean your machine, keep the liquid in the drip tray, and drop the wand tip inside it for 10 minutes. This will remove all the old milk, and you then just need to rinse it with tap water.
I had no idea I could screw the tip off. I used that tool to poke the steamer hole without screwing it off. I feel rather foolish now, but this is a great help.
Just made the switch from the LaVazza Super Crema to the Maromas Orphea. No changing back. I made the wife an Americano and she said it was the best she ever had. I made myself a Latte and it was perfect. I used 17 g of beans and set the grinder at 7. I used the leveler but didn’t tamp after. The brew pressure showed totally vertical.
For all of you who didn’t know there was a cleaning tool, it also works as a wrench to get the tip off. Just stick the pin in the steam wand tip and rotate the tool.
Just ordered a Barista Express from Amazon! Breville/Sage should send you the Barista Pro for review :) Thanks for all the great videos on this machine! Really appreciate it. P.s. do you have any plans to buy a separate grinder, or is the one in the Barista Express adequate for now? Thanks!
Hey Hoon! watched a lot of your videos and they are super helpful! I need some help with my milk frother! It started acting up last week, at first the pressure is good, but it is kind of spraying out some water and the pressure slows down while I am frothing 🥲. I tried descaling and tried rinza milk frother wand cleaner. Currently still puzzled 😩
If you’re having trouble twisting off your steam wand and it’s stuck. It might have been glued on from milk. Soak wand in boiling water for 5 mins then it will be easy to twist off
My machine is brand new. I used it today for the first time and wanted to clean the steam wand and I used the tool and tried to unscrew it counter clockwise but it doesn't move. Any hint? It's brand new, I frothed some milk so I wanted to clean it but it doesn't move. Thank you!
Hi I have the same coffee machine. But where do you get this tools. I didn't have one in my box when I bought it. Is it comes with it or do you have to buy them separately? Please help.
I'm going to try this. I hope it works. Mine isn't working anymore and the steam comes from the bottom of the machine, like where the water fills up you need to empty. No coffee for a week now :'(
Hmm I just take the steam tip off and soak it with the espresso cleaning tabs (the disintegrated tab works as well) 15 min and wipe. Also a unfolded paperclip works better for cleaning the nozzle
To be honest, I didn't know that the steam wand head could be opened & cleaned like this. Another useful video. Where can I get the steam wand head opener? Do you think a pliers can be used instead of it?
@@HoonsCoffee I saw that Sage/Breville offers replacement parts for its machines on the official company website: www.sageappliances.com/eu/de/parts-accessories/parts/sp0001569.html However, I am not sure, if another kind of head than the one with the single hole is available.
getting steam from my shower-head and not my wand. the pump is running but nothing comes out. the wand is clean. only run reverse-osmosis water,so i don't have any scaling. any solution? thanks!
This video is rather old, but I have seen a few of these spanning the years. In case no one has told you yet, the audience is the lens not the view finder.
Your video and channel is in great niche and I can see that the information you are giving is valuable, but due to poor production quality, it is really hard to watch. Please take the time and effort to find the right angle, test it and focus. There is no focus at all, especially with the closeup shots. Also, we don't need to hear you telling us that you will change the camera angles. Just do it, make some cool edits, maybe include crispy b rolls and do voice over. I hope this feedback helps you and your channel to grow. Cheers
your videos are great and very useful however it pains me to see how wasteful you are with water when doing cleaning vids. It would be great if you were more conscious with regard to running water and how much you actually use when leaving a tap running and not using it. Perhaps you could do an environmentally conscious cleaning video :-)
Breville couldn’t even tell us the purpose of this tool. Thanks for this!
Thanks for posting! Helped massively - Didn't even know that tray was a tool tray 😅

Thank you 🎉 I'm learning all the time from you how to better clean the machine!
Awesome guide. I used a few Q-Tips to poke down the end of the removed tip and managed to remove some gunk and bits of metal filings (shocked!).

Going to try this now. I only have red vinegar - will that work?
Hey Hoon's coffee,
Thanks so much for posting this video, i did what you said and my coffee machine is back to perfect!
Keeping everything clean is important thanks Hoon!
Absolute life saver mate, thanks very much for the vid, just cleaned my wand (no pun intended) & now works like a dream 👍👍👍
Glad it helped
That clears a lot of frustration! Thank you so much!
Never knew this tool existed until I was searching for how to clean it. Now I know what’s it for so I can clean up my frother properly
Thank you for watching!

Happy to hear that!
Holy crap didn’t even know you could unscrew it whoa!

This is exactly what I needed to do to fix my frother. Let's face it, it's ALL about the steamed milk!
Exactly what I was looking for - thank you!

or use vinegar to descale !!! very good old school technique... including cleaning windows vegetables and so on.....natural and organic:))

Actually, I'm getting a grinder from ebay pretty soon. I just won the bid on the used grinder! Looking forward to showing to you guys.

Plier should be fine but make sure watch out for the steam hole
Hi would you know what is the size of the nozzle tip? im planning to replace the nozzle tip to maybe 2 or 3 holes.
Let me get back to you Jan!
Thank you!
Hi, can you also explain how to remove the whole steam stick and clean/replace it ? Thanks in advance..
That is great question. Let's me take a look.
Hoon's Coffee looking forward;)
Thank you! That was so helpful
Glad it was helpful!
How can I fix the hot water/wand that are not releasing water or steam?
If you soak the tip in hot water, vinegar, and baking soda for 10-15 minutes all the milk stuck in the crack will wipe right off with no problem
Can you show me what all I should do daily after I pull a shot to clean the machine and keep it running well?
I will.
When turning on my Breville machine, the steam light and power lights just blink. What causes this
After that keeping blinking or stop?
appreciate this!
@Hoon's Coffee Is it possible to exchange the head of the steam wand for a head with three holes? Thank you in advance!

Oh that’s what that’s for!
The steam wand of my Barista works, but the hot water spout is not working. What could be the cause?
I have to look into that.
Thanks
Any tips on how to get the tip off? Tried and tried and the thing won’t move.
You have to pry open.
A really helpful video but you shouldn't leave the tap running when you don't need water. Bad for the environment.
Thank you for reminding me!
The red O ring broke :( ideas where to find a replacement?
Here link is the link www.breville.com/us/en/parts-accessories/parts/sp0001569.html
Mine won't twist off. In fact i tried so hard it broke the tool.
I can screw off the tip to save my life. 🤣

@@SC-us1hs Just make sure you have water in the tank correct? Try the descaling process with water and vinegar.

Yeah I just had that problem. Turns out I was turning it the wrong way. It’s upside down so turn to the right 🤦🏻
