- The Citroen C6 certainly fits itself into the alternative category, but how well does it stand up against it is more traditional competitors?

I saw the Doug DeMuro review of this car. To him, almost everything about this car was weird and quirky. He didn't think much of the style, hardly mentioned the Hydractive Hydropneumatic suspension...he just kept pointing out anything that didn't look normal to his American taste. He predictably gave the C6 a low score. Mind you I disagreed with much of his observations but then I'm not trying to get views on UA-cam.
And what could he have said about look? It's just a hideous car, that's all. If it wasn't a luxury barge, nobody would care about it.
Car Soul > Doug DeMuro
@@MJ-uk6lu So you came to this channel to waste your looking at a car you think is hideous? You must be special. 😒
@@abrahkadabra9501 I only wanted to read comments. BTW remember that every day there are many hideous cars made and you see some hideous buckets everyday too.
I have seen his review and i m totaly agree with you. I done a comment on it
Citroen is not just "different" but far in advance of BMW, Audi and Mercedes. Nothing offers the suspension engineering sophistication of the C6 in 2022
100% agree, however I do wish Citroën would be as innovative and well engineered now as they were in the past
@@stefanharverd2571 Globalisation destroyed it..now everything is about less cost
I'd like to see where the Ami goes, it's certainly the right level of weird, and I've not tested out this hydraulic cushions yet either.
I had one. Engine broke down. But I will not hesitate to get another. I fell in love with these cars and miss mine much. Soon I will be driving it again. With a big smile, knowing I'm back where I belong. Forever Citroen.
Citroen are a master of building cars that you want to scrap sometimes, but love as much as your mother.
I've had my C6 for over 7 years now as a daily driver. Sure there have been some big bills but the car is 16 years old now. I wouldn't change it for the world.
Damn 7 years! You are a true car enthusiast, lovley choice of car!
Been thinking about swaping my 407 coupe for one 🙂
Last true Citroen 😢
We had C5 (2006) with Hydroactive suspension- no words can describe that feeling 😊 after 600 km driving it you leave the car like you driven 10 km
Also had a c5 and it was lovely. Xantia just as good. BX was ok but the DS I had was the best. Going to have to make a campaign for Citroen to sort themselves out
I beleive the cupholders came from the SAAB 9 5, as the night mode.
If the ones in the Saab 9-3 are anything to go by I can believe that!
Thanks for a well-filmed review that beautifully echoes the relaxed nature of the C6. I have one of these gorgeous cars and it is fabulous to look at and to drive. That said, as with all complex cars of this age, it throws challenges to test its owner, some of which can prove costly. Thanks for reviewing it 👍
Thank you! We are pleased you liked it, and for the time we had this C6 even we can vouch for its costly problems! Loves a dash light! Still wanted to keep it forever!
Always loved the C6.
I wish i had kept mine, fabulous even in very bad weather (snow)
I owned one, it's a burago 1/20 scale model, similar black color.
A much more reliable option
I own one with a petrol engine, daily driver currently but planning to retire it in a couple of years and keep it as a weekender.
All floaty Citroens deserve to be cherished weekend cars!
You too? Will keep mine and probably transform it to electric in a decade.
Had mine for three years and 100k miles . Glad I had one, but was glad to change it !
Definitely an E segment car, D segment would be the C5.
The C6 rear window is my fav feature! I recently reviewed the DS9 for my channel.
First Comment - Fantastic episode again - Love me an old French Barge!!!
Just over a thousand have been made? I think you should double-check the production number...
Yes, everyone’s pointing that one out! To clarify, around 23000 were made - 1000 of those were sold in the UK - a slip of the tongue!
Extremely good video about a very interesting car. Your channel deserves many, many more subscribers. Great job!! Thank you!
Thanks for that! Comments like that keep us going!
Love the review! Very well executed and well explained
If u don’t know how to pronounce the name don’t call it a citron= lemon ….nobody is calling u cauliflower..
You don’t know that
Stunning car and sure to be a future classic
If the sport versions go the same way as the previous ones, then you're very much right. The ST24 is creeping up nicely - lets hope it trickles back!
I will keep mine as long as possible, although taxes AND fuel costs (because of the Russian-Ukraine war) are ridiculous in he Netherlands at the moment.
My Top FIVE ulTRA luxURY Cars Might Be FERRARI, LAMBORGHINI, ROLLS ROYCE, BENTLEY AND ASTON MARTIN and then Maserati And Alfa Romeo But The BIG GERMAN THREE Are Spot On.
You’re my hero 🦸♂️
FABULOUS - the best of the DS, CX, XM & SM in one exceptional package, and mostly very reliable. 23,400 were made...
2.25% of CXs and less than the number of CX Prestiges ...29,230 out of 1,042,460 CXs
Reliable??? Clearly you have never owned a C6!
@@fasthracing I have 5 friends with C6s. One of those had 2 from new here in Sydney. If well serviced they are mostly very good. Went to a Citroen Rally in Cowra in March. There were 4 x C6s and also 4 x SMs.
@@stephenberry1205 We owned ours from 14000 miles up to 46000 miles here in the UK. We always had it serviced and looked after by a Citroen main dealer. Great car but so unreliable, well at least ours was.
@@fasthracing Sorry to hear that. I have owned 17 Citroens over 50 years with overall good reliability. I had custody of the new 1978 Rolls and it was a lemon... 18 months old they refunded 10% of the purchase price. My 1978 CX Prestige was totally reliable from new for the 3 years I had it, but rust killed it with a subsequent owner.
Nice review with a perfect summary, of an amazing piece of automotive craziness 💙
The C5 which I endured for 8 years was a huge money pit. The C6 is just a bigger money pit. The hydraulic suspension was nothing special but it was prone to need large wads of cash thrown at it. I should have got the one with the springs.
Really like most Citroën versions these days and even many of their smaller modells who have a road behaviour like many other brands larger versions. Not bad, not bad at all.
I used to drive a jaguar xj6 and later on a BMW 528, and I had always admired the clean lines of a Citroën CX, but they were already too old for me. And than this beauty came along. I toke a test drive in one, but compared to the 5-series I came in, the ride wasn't noticeable more comfortable, definitely noisier and there was this weird hu display that I didn't know how to switch off and that was simply annoying.
Stunningly beautiful on the outside, disappointing driving experience, compared to Jaguar, Daimler and BMW.
What BMW did you drive? The F10 or E60?
Lovely superior comfortable car - so exclusive. Affordable to buy now. There is some scarcity of certain spare parts for the breaking system, so you have to consider refurbished/remanufactured.
Had to swap a suspension leg on this car, I was lucky there was one near me on eBay, but that was the only one I could find.
Thank you for this video from Savoie in france !
Proprietaire d une C6 ?
One of the best being built!
i own one. makes me happy every time I look at her, drive her and its just the best.
Great aren’t they. Even if they do attack your wallet
jammer dat er dan geen ondertiteling is..
Pity to ruin the experience with cheap stalks just like Maserati borrowing from Chrysler parts bin, as the song goes, ninety nine and a half won't do.
I really don't like this. PSA are STILL using those awful stalks!
@@CarSoul Earlier models used to break, something I never experienced with my 2004 206 but trying to use the indicator after it had self-cancelled felt risky. The indicator stalk in my 2012 208 feels much better made.
Jammer..niet in het nederlands of met ondertiteling
Zo moeilijk is het toch niet te volgen?
Best handling saloon .
This car is not about handling, not at all, it handles ok. Throwing it into corners show that you do not understand the concept of the C6!
I don't know, I didn't find the ride to be special when I test-drove the stupid thing and also rode in the back. It was way too floaty and made me carsick, even in the Sport mode, around town. It was also not as quiet as I was expecting. My old American luxury cars never made me carsick, by contrast.
American Luxury? 🤔
@@CarSoul How old are you?
pity it was not a hatchback....
Would have been interesting to see that rear glass incorporated into a hatchback, but if anyone could do it it would be Citroen!
@@CarSoul well the XM was a hatchback
C6 sublime 👍👍👍👍👍
