- The first cobbled classic of the season, the Women’s Omloop Het Nieuwsblad marks the beginning of the Spring Classics in the bike racing calendar.. The course takes in some of the most savage bergs of Flanders and follows a similar route to the men with the iconic finale over the Muur van Geraardsbergen and the Bosberg before a drag to the finish in Ninove. It’s a true Belgian Classic, with cobbles, steep hills and the possibility of bad weather, which means that only the strongest riders can win. World Champion Annemiek Van Vlueten leads a strong Mitchelton-Scott team but they will be up against the best that Canyon//SRAM, CCC, Boels-Dolmans & the rest of the peloton can throw at them. Join Dani Rowe and Marty McDonald to see the best women in the world battling it out for glory over the cobbles.

New to cycling at 39 years of age,and never thought I would try out a new sport for size this late in the 'game'.

As I said in the comments of the highlights video, excellent coverage. What I didn't realise was that Van Vlueten made it back to the head of the race after that mechanical on the tight corner in just 11km .... when no-one stayed back for her.... this is all before she decided to make everyone else in the race wish they stayed at home.
Amazing race - picked AVV so happy with that - great commentary from Danni and Marty - couldn't believe it was 3 hours plus and chapeau to Lizzie, Abi Mae, Dani, Hannah etc - GB women really kicking on on the road.
Watching from Canada - so awesome to see complete coverage of the women's race! Commentary was also fantastic. Will tune in again

Thanks from Coloradofor the great coverag GCN. As cold here but dry at least : ) Was at Kapelmuur last April on my own little Ronde van Vlaanderen. Good memories. I must have lucked out as it was 17C and dry. Loved every km of the Belgian roads. And frites, BONUS

These conditions are brutal!!!
Yeah the spring weather in Europe is getting nastier every year. Non-stop heavy storms for the last month. 40mph minimum winds again tonight here in England and probably the same for KBK tomorrow. This opening classic even was harder for the women than the men. Luck of the draw but van Vleuten definitely has the right stuff.
Dani and Marty do a great job of holding interest when the video feed goes out. Otherwise would be tempted to switch it off. Hope to see more streamed racing, men's and women's.

That was fantastic racing to watch but I note you keep asking for likes which is a bit annoying as I am watching cos I like it so should not need to tell you twice. If the algorithms need to know the link between watchers and spend I can tell you in the year i've been watching gmbn and gcn I have bought two bikes, one helmet, bike shoes and lost two stone! Great for my health, bad for my wallet, but all have brought me great joy. Cheers x

no offence but how fucking dull are them two men?? goes without saying if you have a bike problem and the first guy out grabs the bike wheel the wheel off because it will be quicker than then second wheel off, or take the bike off first while ridder whips off the front wheel I would of if me your team need to learn love in 35,41min in,
Commentator really needs to do a bit of training in basic pronunciation and recognition of the major European languages. Cringeworthy!
