    the playground has these interactables
    1. Swings gives goodies if shot
    2. see-saws react to the rc car's weight
    3. the tire can be set fire only with the napalm
    4. duck can drop health by shooting it (except machinegun) and will stop if you roast em
    5. the kid will fly away if you keep shooting him (hes fine and actually likes it)
    6. there are little army men guys strapped with firecrackers and deals damage if u ram them into opponents
    7. the center pieces of the map can be destroyed if you keep shooting the middle support beams enough, i recommend a buncha power missiles, eventually it will explode and leave only the roof of the play houses on the floor

Overall I think the first levels over the series are pretty well done. My favourites are TM2, SB and even 2012.

Most of the opening levels are awesome! My favorite is LA Rumble in TM2. Killer soundtrack too!

23:27: Damn, you drove through all those rocks and barely took dmg. Normally that'd destroy your health.
38:49: Sphincter man is probably a Spiderman reference. Wonder called Boy is a reference to Robin, Batman's sidekick. Teen Movie IV is a reference to the parody movies released around that time (Scary Movie, Disaster Movie, etc.)
It's pretty cool going from Lost to 2012 and seeing how the devs reused their scrapped ideas.

I think TM1 has the best LVL 1 map because its only 1 vehicle which lets you practice which is what a LVL 1 map should be, an introduction on how to play. If I had to desing a LVL 1 TM map. I would have it start on the stage map with no enemy vehicles just giving you the rundown real quick of controls and then load in the enemy 1 at a time for the first play through. Once a play through is completed it will then from there on skip tutorial part and load all enemies right away.

The pizza guy in the Suburban Terror level can be destroyed, but only by Axel's special for some reason

What an interesting idea for a video, examining just the first level of every game! I haven't finished the video yet so I don't know if you rank em at the end, but here's how I'd rank em, based solely on design:
    1. 2012 Sunsprings (S grade, top tier level)
    2. Lost Suburban Terror (A grade, lots of interesting things going on)
    3. Black Junkyard (A grade, solid intro to Black)
    4. TM2 Los Angeles (A grade, iconic but not as detailed as later PS2/PS3 game levels)
    5. Head-On Big Blue Stadium (B grade, nothing wrong, but nothing much to it either)
    6. TM4 Construction Yard (B grade, sets up what to expect from the rest of TM4 well)
    7. Small Brawl Playground (B grade, but feels a bit small and simple in design)
    8. TM3 Hollywood (B grade, solid enough but feels like half of what it should be)
    9. TM1 Arena Duel (C grade, a small room with one enemy does well to introduce what TM is in the first game, but doesn't stack up at all to the later games in hindsight)
Also, I appreciate hearing your thoughts on TM4 while you were playing that one, I couldn't agree more!

Great ranking! I’m surprised to see Big Blue Stadium above Playground Peril, but besides that I agree!

@@dessadoo I would've been surprised too until I committed to writing it down. 😅 They're practically neck-and-neck (even if TM4 Construction Yard is between them lol), but I give Big Blue the edge because it has more variety to it in a way, how it has the main field but also has the stands, the dugouts, the rooms for an unknown purpose in the corners, while Playground Peril in comparison feels cut down to just its "main field". Sure it does have some cool things to play around and interact with, but at the end of the day it suffers a bit for an issue I see with the majority of Small Brawl's levels, and that's just how most of them feel like a flat square with a few elevated platforms around to add **some** spice.

    • @dessadoo
      @dessadoo  2 місяці тому +1

@flyingferron that’s fair. I agree with your assessment of Big Blue Stadium. I adore Playground Peril, but it is pretty basic compared the more complex PS2/3 games.

In TM4 to get up onto the area with the bridge and health, you need to go to the section where it's like a few large boxes, on top of one of them is a telepirter. That teleporter gets you up there.
Other option turbo hit ramp facing ledge you want to get onto, then advance jump as you leave the ramp. It's difficult but possible.

And in Lost I'm surprise you didn't show how to get up onto the pizzas.

@@dessadoo for a moment while you was driving through the mansion, I thought you was about to show Water tower. But I get the video was about how the first map is in each of the games, not necessarily every hidden secret and specialty thing about them.

Idk man, I don't play TM that much but does TM2 deserve all the hate it gets? It gets old quick listening to how bad and tedious it is to play TM2 imo, even though I think alot of your criticism is very valid and on point.
But other than that I think your videos are great! Always looking forward to see another Drew video.

They may have been simple with not much depth to the lore or even consistency with the lore but damn do these give me nostalgia and nostalgia is dangerous because it makes me yearn for simpler times though we can never go back there is comfort in knowing that it happened and there is joy in remembering what once was. With all their flaws and all their unique attractions and benefits I still love these games to death. Just wish much like you there was more to them, you know you love something when you start thinking about all that could've been. 🥲
