Big Project episode one - GMC Motorhome Eleganza / American LaFrance

I've always liked the look of the 60's American LaFrance firetrucks. 3-1/2 years ago I saw a 900 series rolling cab/chassis for sale with a way high price but still it stayed in the back of my mind and I was getting ideas about what could be done with something like that.
Six months after first seeing it, it hadn't sold even though the price had continued to drop to a point that I thought was reasonable. I made a deal because the ideas rolling around in my head solidified around using the best parts of a 70's GMC motor home to build my version of a cab over pickup rat rod.
I found this wreck of a GMC for sale at an auction 2-1/2 years ago, the body was damaged but the undercarriage was in decent shape for it's age.
