    As a non NYC resident, would love sub titles in the future to identify locations, stations, etc. but overall great! Thanks

    At 1:50 to the left, you can see the Globe (Unisphere?) and NY Pavilion from the 1964 World's Fair. If you're too young to remember that, it's where the Men in Black fought the giant bug.

    Awesome video from my favorite NYC Subway line. Thanks for uploading it! I love how the train ascends up into the sky at the double-el section around 111th Street.

      After the 2nd, 3rd, and 9th Avenue els were constructed, center express tracks were added with upper level express platforms at certain stations. The views from these upper level tracks must have been priceless!

    I've ridden the 7Express many years ago from Times Sq to Flushing. The 6 train to/from Pelham Bay Park operates a similar centet track express only during rush hours in the Bronx.

      that is part of sunnyside yard where nj transit and amtrak store their trains. and the tracks that they and the lirr use lead to and from the east river tunnels (which are over 100 years old and reportedly damaged and cracking, thanks to hurricane sandy).

    Considering the electric lighting now available, and the relative low coast....why hasn't NYC installed lighting in the tunnels? It would improve the subway experience for all.

    • @DJHammersTrains
      @DJHammersTrains  8 років тому +1

      There hasn't really been a need to install brighter lighting to be honest. When workers are down on the tracks, temporary lighting is installed. It's more work and maintenance costs to have more lighting.

      KingofKings--Jihyo Gaming I’m from Philly too,you’re talking about the broad street line with a north and south express lines while the El alternate stops during rush hours,I’m also puzzled by the single center line,maybe the alternate as well,with morning rush express going into the city and the afternoon rush going out,I’m just guessing....!!!??

    Do you know why MTA built the end of the tail tracks so far away from 34th Street-Hudson Yards station?

    • @DJHammersTrains
      @DJHammersTrains  8 років тому

      +elirosen1391 They built long tail tracks so they can store a lot of trains south of the station so they can use them all to run rush hour service levels.

    • @azuresonic69
      @azuresonic69 6 років тому

      mk17173n there are markers/indicators/signs on the motormans side of platforms for different train lengths and others in the tunnels, e.t.c.

    • @DJHammersTrains

      +hockeyboss 689 Not sure yet. It's too far ahead in the future.

    • @doverimpulse
      @doverimpulse 8 років тому

      +hockeyboss 689 The T line will likely use R160s, R179s, R211s and possibly R143s (although this is unlikely due to their length of 480 ft. per train).

    I am surprised to hear a full Marathi phone conversation in the background, the guy is talking about his job around 16:30 mark, he is not sure if he would have is job or would be kicked off his job within the next Year and then asking about the other persons health.

      +Dj Hammers U know what I realized too riding on R62A 2151 on the 7? Seeing how dominant the R188 are on the 7 u realize just how old the 62A is now. I felt that way when R160 took over the J from the R42.
