When I lived on the West End in 1986-7, it was the B. At the time, the trip between 25th Ave & Dekalb took about an hour because the 4th Ave subway tracks were skeletonized. Crossing the bridge was also agonizingly slow because of the closure of the north side (everything was running via Bway). So nice to see it running as it should!

Thank you so much for posting this. What a great ride. I’m always amazed at the foresight the subway planners had - they mapped out a subway system 100 years ago that is still vitally important today.
Goes to show that New York City is SMART; they kept their rail-based public transit, while Los Angeles and the rest of southern California moronically got rid of theirs! LA once had EVERYTHING needed to solve transportation problems of today back in 1910!!

Great video. Keep up the good work. I salute to all MTA workers in keeping the stations clean and in good condition. I hope the NYPD will do their best to keep the riders safe.
Oh man...I remember back in the day when I was a kid in Borough Park - took the B through those tunnels to the 4th Avenue line and into Manhattan for school. (It was the B on West End back then.)
Fun But Upsetting Fact: The Grand Concourse Line was originally supposed to be 4 tracks (evidence of this is the 4th track between 167th and 170th). However due to the IRT (they were building the 4 line), filing a lawsuit with the city, the IND was forced to cut it back to 3 tracks 😃
It gets better every time, first Next Stop Is, then the Mini Maps with distance then the entire route at end. Great work. Sometime you might be able to let camera run after last stop so we can see the turn-around for return trip. Thanks for the ride! Happy Holidays.
Happy holidays to you and your family as well...thank you so much for the positive video review and for your suggestion for future videos; it will definitely be discusses. Thanks again for tuning in. 🫶🫡
Originally, Norwood 205th St was not intended to be the northern terminus of the line and it was supposed to be extended further. Because of this, the station has no crew quarters whereas Bedford Park Blvd does, due to it being designed to allow local trains to short-turn and allow express trains to continue like IND’s other lines even though this one has a peak-direction express track, meaning trains in the other direction have to run local, which is evident by the track layout south of the station. This means whichever service running local terminates and reenters service at Bedford Park Blvd and whichever service running express in the peak direction runs until the terminus, 205th St. As a result, train crews change at the former station instead of the latter. Also, 205th St has no crossovers before the station and trains must turn around using the tail tracks after it. Finally, although unrelated to the above, the IND Concourse Line is both the only B Division line and the only fully-underground line in the Bronx.
at 33:41 when the red switch on the right changed to yellow for a split second, was that a mistake on someone's end or what was the reasoning for that? right before the left switch went yellow then green , the right front switch went yellow for a split second it looked accidental
I used to take the B train at Bay Parkway in Brooklyn. It went to 9th Ave. before it went into the tunnel to 36th st. From there it went express to Pacific Street. When did this change to the D train? Also, how come the D train after it left 36 st did not go express to Pacific St?
Thanks for sharing and asking your valid question. The change from the B to the D occurred some years back (mid 2000's) and along with that change, the Pacific Street station, as you know, has also been changed to Atlantic Avenue - Barclays Center. 🫶🫡
I ride the d frequently from 125th to 34th and back. Great line but could use some new cars! I find it interesting the curves leaving and entering 7th avenue start past the platform haha
The D Train to The Bronx was quite a fast fun ride! The express ride between 59 Street-Columbus Circle to 125 Street-Harlem was great! Though Duke Ellington's Orchestra didn't play a song about the D, it's a cool alternative to the A if you're in a hurry to get to Harlem! One time, I did ride the D during non-rush hours and noticed it stopped at 161 Street Yankee Stadium. However, if you like the view coming out of the tunnel and seeing the ball yard, take the 4 Train. I took a friend on my travels, and he liked it. The D was good. but he preferred the 4 Train. The R-68 train in this video had good speed throughout the whole trip. I enjoyed the experience!!
Thank you for pointing these things out. We felt like the 34th street station was the only one fitting for the path connection. Outside of the things you mentioned, what were your thoughts on the video overall?
Great question. Back in May 2012, the name was changed to its current name, “Atlantic Avenue-Barclays Center.” Thanks for sharing the history of this line when it was the B line. The D started operating this line back in 2004.
idk if this is possible if you can do B train to Brighton Beach to Bedford park blvd. and also going through the concourse yard I want to see how that looks
Great observation and question. Those rails are referred to as, "guard rails," and they are installed to assist with preventing possible train derailments, train stability and a few other purposes related to efficient service. 🫶🫡
Great question. During non-rush hr times, this track is not being used and so, passengers may/may not be close to the platform edge and/or have their backs turned, while the express train is entering the station. The horn alerts the platform passengers as a safety protocol. 🫶🫡
@@wtaenyc Awesome, I'm glad i finally got to see the NB perspective of the 4th ave line into the bridge, thanks again for this great video! definitely worth the wait
Great observation and question. It is believed that this area is not an abandoned station, but one that endured some of the many subway modifications/evolutions.

Love it. Big fan of your subway videos. Believe it or not, good sleeping sounds of the subway.
Thank you so much for sharing this as the sounds are indeed quite soothing. 😴 🏆
What happened 2 the G train program?
Thanks for asking. The new management decided to remove it as it was no longer fitting of the channel's image. We look forward to sharing our new recorded video soon. 💯🫡
Great video. Keep up the good work. I salute to all MTA workers in keeping the stations clean and in good condition. I hope the NYPD will do their best to keep the riders safe.
Thank you so much for your praises; of both our work and the work being done by the NYCT employees you merntined. 🫶🫡

Oh man...I remember back in the day when I was a kid in Borough Park - took the B through those tunnels to the 4th Avenue line and into Manhattan for school. (It was the B on West End back then.)
Honored that this video can assist in bringing you back to the memories you have and shared, when this line was service by the B train.
20:14 i love this whole part coming up here. got my own sideview vid…but this adds a whole neat-o dimension. very wild!

I always wanted them to build an underground 3 Av lines that connects with the Concourse line from Webster Av at 205th.
Really digging the mini map 💯

at 33:41 when the red switch on the right changed to yellow for a split second, was that a mistake on someone's end or what was the reasoning for that? right before the left switch went yellow then green , the right front switch went yellow for a split second it looked accidental
I love the D train
🏆🏆. What was your favorite part of the ride?
@@wtaenyc the train going express
That was good run at grand concourse. I wonder how long the people on the local had to wait for the B since I didn’t see any skipped
We are heading to (D)a Bronx!! I heard it's gangsta.
💯🫡 @ "Da" Bronx...How'd you like the experience?
Amazing... Amazing...👏👏👏👏
Thank you! Cheers! 🫡
@@wtaenyc Thanks for the eeply.
I ride the d frequently from 125th to 34th and back. Great line but could use some new cars! I find it interesting the curves leaving and entering 7th avenue start past the platform haha
Thanks for sharing. Looking forward to seeing those newer cars on the line as the system continues to gain the necessary resources. 🫡🏆

My favorite part on this line is from 36th Street to 9th Avenue... both ways.
That's a very curvy area of the route...quite genius how it was constructed. 🏆
For W 4 Street what about connection to PATH
and I’m pretty sure for 42nd street just put transfer to 7
Thank you for pointing these things out. We felt like the 34th street station was the only one fitting for the path connection. Outside of the things you mentioned, what were your thoughts on the video overall?
@@wtaenyc I love the D express that skipped a few stops to 205 street
When I lived in Brooklyn this was the west end B line, and it's been a long time but wasn't the next stop after 36th St Pacific St?
Great question. Back in May 2012, the name was changed to its current name, “Atlantic Avenue-Barclays Center.” Thanks for sharing the history of this line when it was the B line. The D started operating this line back in 2004.
Yeh see I moved to Long Island in 2005@@wtaenyc
@34:57 that's some weird track geometry!!!
What's so weird about it?
@@PRL2204 exactly. nothing "weird" about it
You should do a video on the no 6 Pelham Express both directions.
idk if this is possible if you can do B train to Brighton Beach to Bedford park blvd. and also going through the concourse yard I want to see how that looks
What’s the other rail in the of the two rails throughout and it looks like it meets a box in the middle of the tracks. @17:50 as an example
Great observation and question. Those rails are referred to as, "guard rails," and they are installed to assist with preventing possible train derailments, train stability and a few other purposes related to efficient service. 🫶🫡
Thanks! Love the vids! Looking forward to them weekly!
Why the horn at 1:02:00?
Great question. During non-rush hr times, this track is not being used and so, passengers may/may not be close to the platform edge and/or have their backs turned, while the express train is entering the station. The horn alerts the platform passengers as a safety protocol. 🫶🫡
OOo how do you make those mini maps?? They're so cool!

🤔🫡
It's used as a walkway for people who are switching from one 1 train platform to another (without having to pass through A,B,C,D passengers).
ayeee finally!!!
How'd you like the experience?
@@wtaenyc Awesome, I'm glad i finally got to see the NB perspective of the 4th ave line into the bridge, thanks again for this great video! definitely worth the wait
Was that an abandoned train stop right before the train comes off the bridge and into the tunnel?
Great observation and question. It is believed that this area is not an abandoned station, but one that endured some of the many subway modifications/evolutions.
