When I was 15 I watched Bear Grylls with my little brother and he snared rabbits. That day we went out with old guitar strings and set up a few snares. The next day we were completely astonished when we had actually caught a rabbit. My dad taught us to skin and dress it and we made a rabbit stew. Good fucking times. New subscriber, great vid man.
That was a good watch. I envy you. I wish it were that easy for me to go and get out there. Makes watching these videos really appreciative Thanks for sharing!!
A tip on using shotguns for rabbits. Use high brass number 4s or #5s. They have enough energy and the bigger shot, you get alot of the pellets making pass throughs. And very few in the meat versus using a standard load of 5s or 6s that leave lots of pellets in the meat. I love elk and deer hunting, but LOVE snowshoe hunting in the winter. Theyre delicious if cooked properly
So I'm not a hunter, nothing against hunters, I just choose not to. That said, I think at least knowing how to hunt and properly clean a kill is important so I appreciate the step by step "How to".
I’m a trapper as well but no market in the auctions for hare pelts so I haven’t kept them. They also have extremely thin skin, no personal need for them. Exclusively take them for meat, however finding a purpose to keep the hide would be cool!
Tough to do stuff with those hairs it's like tissue paper. I save them all the same but only because I give them to a indigenous lady to use as clothing for the dolls that she makes they end up looking like big parkas on them. Aside from decorative stuff like that nothing really you can do with them. There is a way to make a blanket by wrapping them around a cord and then weaving them after.
I harvested a buck this season weighing in the 140kg range. On average they'll have shorter racks holding nice mass. They're true "bush bucks" and are far from farm country. Doe's can be quite tall and heavy set as well in these parts. Take care!

It was!
Love your vids brother. Very very straight to the point. Ne subscriber here.
Thanks a bunch, that's much appreciated!!
Onions always first! You want to sweat the bitterness that makes your eyes tier up and turn them sweet. Just better cooking.
Awesome👍🏽
Does the rabbit end up tuff/chewy cooked like this? I've always had to pressure cook them to make them edible
Rabbits do tend to be on the chewier side fresh from the field. After a few days of refrigeration they loosen up significantly tho😄
I was thinking the same end up coming out tough as a boot I've tried it this way. Once. LOL
I love jack rabbits !
They're actually Snowy Lemurs!
Sending you snowshoes for the snowshoe hare hunt! Lol
Haha👌👌
Good video. I hunt rabbits here in Edmonton Alberta.

That's not a rabbit it's a hare.
Great video!
Glad you enjoyed it
0:52 how the hell did you find the rabbit that far?? give me some tips please
Jus try look for there eyes that's what i do
Eyes or ears will given them away. They are also a dirty snow colour, so that can catch your eye too.
Nice video man I can't wait for me to try rabbit I've ate squirrel before but I have never ate a rabbit
You'll enjoy it! Only have red squirrel in my area, always wanted to try greys tho!
Yes this video Good
Really shame you aren’t tanning the pelt, I’ve been looking for snowshoes for a year so I can eat the meat and tan the pelt

Looks delicious, subbed.
Thankyou for the sub, much appreciated!
I replayed the shot @.25 speed. it's face came off :)
Rabbit meat is so sweet
Agreed 👍
I never knew how large those hare are
I remember cleaning my first hare, You are taking way too much time fixing that hare.
I don't believe the hare could be fixed, no matter how much time it took.
you left out the egg.
Ewwww don't you have to make sure the fur don't touch the meat?
Not sure why that would matter much!
Rabbit or hare
Hare
They were warming in the sun not "chilling." All hunting videos should include dressing, cooking and eating the game. Thank You.
Thank you for your opinion!
Its a figure of speech...
It's obviously an expression. He did a nice job on the video.
You're thinking too literally. He mentioned they were out for the sun and just chilling as in hanging out in the sun...
Damn bro, you need to chill. Sorry, I mean you need to warm in the sun.
I thought you would get way more meat than this
I cut out every piece of meat, including the heart. Honestly don’t get a heap of meat off a hare, but what you do get is worth it👌
@@TheNorthLando Yeah
The fur just makes them looks so big, that's all. But that's needed in their climate
