Wow, that took a long time considering it's been blooming so long. I planted one from a 1 gal. pot last year here in Costa Rica and got fruit in under a year. It's one of my new favorite fruits because it makes great smoothies with cold milk and sugar or just use water and it's like a non-citrus lemonade. You can grow them from seed pretty easy too, they just take several months to germinate. I planted some from my first fruits and thought they had died only to notice they had germinated like 6 months later.
I had one in Penang and put into Leed Lemonade - was delicious great tang with sugar - my plant is in pot 70cm tall over 5 yo no flowers as yet in Melb. Has to come inside over winter.
Hey mate, i know you're running a small channel, and it might be hard to find motivation sometimes. Just want you to know i love these videos, as someone else with a 1/2 acre block in brisbane doing exactly this.
Cheers mate I appreciate that. I mainly do the videos to connect with other rare fruit lovers, I work full time and to be honest I don't really love making videos but when i first started I couldn't find many people in our area that were really into rare fruit so I thought I'd give it a go. If you are in Brisbane you should come to one of the sub tropic fruit club meetings, next one is at 6:30pm on the 13th of June at the Albion Peace Centre, it's a good place to grab some free fruit trees!
Great video Doug, the tree is looking great, nice fruit!

Yeah they have an amazing flavour, my climate is the dry subtropics so plants take a bit longer to fruit here.
Great looking fruit. Congrats. I can't get mine to set fruit lol
It's taken a while G, some of these eugenias need a few years practice
@@dougs_urbanfarm all show and no go for a while lol

Yeah Mark I really like the flavour of these fruit. Hopefully, yours will flower soon
I'm actually quite surprised by the fruits Doug, they are quite a decent size
Yeah Brett and they should get bigger than this, this is a very large eugenia.
What would you liken the taste of it to before adding it to something else please ??
Can't really compare it to anything, slightly tropical but has its own particular taste
@@dougs_urbanfarm OK thanks Doug. Looking forward to when you get to add it to something to taste it. 👍👌
