Amazing to what you can pick on an average day Doug !
Climate helps a lot! Hope you are progressing well mate, been in our thoughts.
Bugger about the passing thieves mate. Nice haul cobber.
I like the challenge of hinting thrives!
Appetizing fruits certainly taste very delicious, thank you for sharing.
Yes, thank you
Does this really tastes like chocolate?
Is is sweetest thant red hybrid? Please reply sir,I am from India
Nice! I just planted two of the Rio Grande cherry plants. How long did you wait for the fruit to come? Cheers from the Fraser Coast!
Thanks for watching my itty bitty channel Ewa! My COTRG trees took at least 6 years to start flowering. My older one is now about 9 years old and my 6 year old tree has its first couple of fruits that aren't ripe yet, can't wait to try those ones. They flower profusely but don't set many fruit, I'm hoping some cross pollination helps.
@@dougs_urbanfarm Thank you. Enjoy watching your vidoes a lot! Especially because we are nearly neighbours and can grow the same fruit. You have a quite few interesting varieties in your food forest. Cheers!
What a spread of fruit Very awesome, I hope you catch the lime thief red handed 👍🏻
Cheers Neil, their hand will be red if I catch them.😉
Cool 😎
When are you going to make a video of your trees Marisa? I would be keen to check them out!
Amazing harvest! I picked up a flordaprince peach when you recommended and I’ve now got some fruit growing, need to now figure out when best to harvest 😅 Don’t know why I thought your grummichamas were purple mangosteens when I saw them. Do you recommend canistel? I need to visit the weekend markets and taste one. Didn’t get to enjoy many mulberries on my young tree, birds did though..hard tax this year 😂
@@qpl88 you will when the peaches are ripe they will just start to be a little soft, this is the perfect time to eat them. Lol purple mangosteen , I wish! I have planted a heap of seeds from my canistel and will graft a bunch, so you can have one. They are like sweetpotato pie, the difference between a good one and a bad one is a lot, I've never found a good one at fruit markets
@@dougs_urbanfarm some of the peaches look good so I’ll confirm the firmness tomorrow and hopefully can report a successful outcome. It sounds like an interesting fruit to try, I’d be heaps appreciative of that but I feel like a hobo expecting stuff off you 😅 I can try source from marketplace
Also I tried to see if purple mangosteens were possible for us but everywhere I looked said it was strictly tropical, bummer. I ended up getting a Lucs garcinia from the eBayer up north, which I think you might use. I’ll be looking at your vid again re repotting. I find his stuff is always tricky
@qpl88 all good mate, there is a difference between me offering stuff and people begging/harassing me for free things, believe me it happens! Sent you a video on messenger
Those look delicious Doug. Nice variety of fruits. I have been doing the same with my canistels. Much love and blessings :)
@@freespirit2194 yes those canistel are so much better if they fully ripen on the tree.
Awesome mate, more people should do it! How old is your pink limeberry plant? Great way to spend your Saturday 👌
Hey Paul my pink limeberry is about 10 years old, but only 3m high. It is always covered in fruit
@@dougs_urbanfarm thanks mate. Mine looks about 4 years old
8 years to fruit in which climate zone? Tree looks great.
Dry subtropics. In western suburbs of Brisbane Australia. About 40km from the ocean.
@@dougs_urbanfarm Do you irrigate with well water?
@@Blackdog1811 no I am in a suburban area and use town water after it goes through filtration to remove chlorine and soften it.
Wow, that took a long time considering it's been blooming so long. I planted one from a 1 gal. pot last year here in Costa Rica and got fruit in under a year. It's one of my new favorite fruits because it makes great smoothies with cold milk and sugar or just use water and it's like a non-citrus lemonade. You can grow them from seed pretty easy too, they just take several months to germinate. I planted some from my first fruits and thought they had died only to notice they had germinated like 6 months later.
Yeah they have an amazing flavour, my climate is the dry subtropics so plants take a bit longer to fruit here.
What a beautiful tree 😊
Nice video Doug!
Great video Doug, thanks for sharing! Everything is looking great!
Nice tips Doug I’ve tried repotting a few like that and it turns bare root quickly
I reckon I’ve bought from the same ebay seller from NQ. I’ve had a hard time trying to quickly, but also delicately, moving from that scoria mix into a new pot. Thanks for the tips
Sensible method Doug , i guess i should try out your potting mix on my challenging tropicals 👍
Nicely done.
Thanks for this Doug. I lost about 3 plants because I didn't have this knowledge and I damaged the taproot when I repotted 👌
Nice technique and i like those scissors
Your collection never ceases to amaze me Doug although I'm guessing a lot of those young plants have many years to go
Hey Brett, hope you are doing well. Yeah these garcinias and plinias should be 8 to 10 years and some of the eugenias might fruit sooner. It doesn't really matter as I have so many other trees in the ground that every year a new tree flowers. For example I have flowers on male and female imbe trees this year. I was 50 this year so by the time I am 60 should have 100s of fruiting trees, my semi retirement will be selling rare fruit, that's the dream.
Hi Doug, Great collection. Wow. Button mangosteen aka Cherapu. Always wanted a few of them. Thanks for stopping by last night and watching my live video. Hope to do it again soon. Take good care my friend. Stay as cool as you can. The heat can be brutal.
Cheers Jason, yeah Cherapu are one tropical plant that might be able to spend its life in a pot, so I can put it in a greenhouse each winter. Good on you making time to go out exercising. I usually walk my dog in the afternoons, and as I do construction am on my feet and climbing ladders all day. I will try to catch your livestreams if the time zones allow.
Wow looking excellent! Um, how about send spring back here 😂
Um, no we will keep it thanks G!😉
@@dougs_urbanfarm 🤣
Wow what an amazing collection. Definitely coming to your place when I'm up in Brisbane again :) Will you be looking for land near Brisbane or a more tropical climate? I love John Picone's setup. He has a big covered area to grow all sorts of things including ultra tropicals. Something like that would be a dream!!!
I'll do a video about the land once I'm out there and sort out where the orchards going. It's on my brother in laws property he bought to retire on, it's 100 acres, 2 hours from me and he's giving me 5 to 10 acres to plant trees on. And yes I might bird net the whole orchard
@@dougs_urbanfarm I'll look forward to that video. Cover some of that area and go ultra tropical.
Very exciting about your land. Will you take us for a tour at some stage?
It's not actually mine,I'm leasing 5 to 10 acres off a family member who is retiring on 100 acre property 2 hours from me. But yes I will definitely keep everyone updated once I start setting up the orchard there.
@@dougs_urbanfarm cool 😎 Hopefully your friend doesn’t mind you filming on the property.
Yeah he's fine with me filming, it's my wife's brother that I've known for 25 years.
Excellent collection there!
Not as good as yours Alastair, but I'm doing my best!
Great collection forming up there! Getting some extra land is the dream, exciting times ahead!
Cheers Ben, once I have sorted out the land I will do a video about it. Looking forward to planting 5 acres of rare fruit trees.
Looking good as always, ya bugger. Your dedication is really paying dividends.
Lol Andy, I like dedication as a description, sounds better than addiction!
Wow wow and wow What a line up of very unique and Uber rare plants Doug 👍🏻 Very cool to see a duguetia in Australia
Hopefully I can get some of these fruiting in a few years, ready for you to try when you come and visit.
@@dougs_urbanfarm can’t wait
Awesome Doug, when you lay them all out in a row you can see the results of the effort put in to source all of those! It's like South America in your garden. Did you say Sp gin and tonic?
Ola Paul.😉 South America is where all good stuff is! Yes it's a Myrciaria sp gin and tonic, and yes I am a sucker for a cool name.
@@dougs_urbanfarm you have an enviable collection mate
Great work mate would love to see some more tasting videos on other mangoes you have? There is so little info coming out of aus on tasting everything is US based
Cheers mate, I since ate a really ripe coco cream and it was amazing, I have flowers on my orange sherbert, lemon meringue and lemon zest so hopefully do a taste test of these this summer. My cotton candy, fruit punch, sweet tart, taiwan gold and kasturi won't fruit till the following year. This spring I am going to a fellow stfc members farm that has 330 varieties of mangos, will do a video of that.
Great video and staying tuned for tips. Wow!! Love the insane number of #dragonfruit varieties you have! 👏🏻👏🏻🌵🌵👏🏻👏🏻
Thanks, Evelyn. I don't really know what I am doing, but I like to have a go and am happy to share my success or failure. I hope to inspire people to plant more edible plants/fruit.
It's great getting your hands on rare and unusual plants!
For sure mate, it's what I live for!
@@dougs_urbanfarm With you there!
I've no idea about these ones but they look amazing. Hope they fruit for you in Brisbane!
So do I Desi!
When they’re more yellow with a little green they will have a strong coconut flavor, it’s closer to pineapple when more green than yellow and when its all light green it’s more like an atalfo.
Yeah you are right , I had another really yellow ripe one and it definitely had a coconut flavour, like the flavour of the young coconut flesh.
That was a huge cc mango fruit!! What do you feed your tree?
I use my home-made compost, and an organic rock based mineral based fertiliser, I also foliar feed with seeweed a few times a year
The leitonii is a very very beautiful. I have two of them
Yeah Thomas they are beautiful!
You have a beautiful home and backyard! Very cool Eugenias, thanks for sharing Doug!
Cheers Johnny
Fascinating rare additions to your impressive collection Doug 👍
Cheers Brett , still thinking of you, and wishing you all the best with whatever you are going through
@@dougs_urbanfarm going in to hospital tomorrow as it happens 🤞
Bro they taste amazing but they take 7 to 8 years to fruit.
Yeah I've found that out, I am patient as I have a lot of garcinias and plinias that take a long time to fruit.
You'd be glad that just now I’ve liked your UA-cam Channel. Cos, your content was really awesome. But unfortunately, there are not much views and subscribers. I noticed that your video SEO score is too weak according to your needs. Because of that, your video is not reaching your target audience. You will be glad to hear that I can help you increase your SEO score so that it is top on the first page of UA-cam which will increase your subscribers and views organically. So, if you want to do this, I await your response.
Nice selection you picked up. The Nordestina do not handle overwatering very well. I learned the hard way when I had a dripper malfunction that killed all 3 that I grew from seeds. Was looking to purchase a seedling and realized how big of a mistake I made. The Nordestina seedlings are going for a pretty penny online right now.
Beautiful new Eugenias
Nice collection! Buying plants is a bit like eating dessert, there’s always room! 😂
Couldn't agree more!
What a beautiful garden, I love looking at it, thank you for sharing.
Thank you, that's very kind.🙏
Awesome Doug 👍🏻 Now that’s getting super rare and unique, very exciting additions to the new tropical greenhouse
Yeah Neil, I need to fill the greenhouse, it looks embarrassingly empty! Thanks for the reminder.😉
Leotonii is my favourite looking one! Has this cured the addiction? 😂
Haha Paul, there is no cure, just medication!
Nice, those ube's are massive Doug!
Thanks Patrick, I actually have some ubes twice the size of these ones, trying to muster the energy to dig them up!
