You probably dont give a shit but does any of you know a way to get back into an instagram account?? I was stupid lost the account password. I would appreciate any tips you can offer me.
@Markus Jason Thanks so much for your reply. I got to the site through google and Im in the hacking process now. Takes quite some time so I will reply here later when my account password hopefully is recovered.
It also doesn't look that intimidating at the bottom but you get to the top and you're like "yeah nah". I've decided to can attempting to drop in until 1) I save up for pads and 2) I can pump all the way from the bottom to the coping
Dropping in is like trying to play a song on the guitar when you aren't ready. Spend time on the ramp pumping, turning, repeat until its second nature to touch the coping. People rush dropping in. Wait till you know you are ready....then commit
So true.... if we had UA-cam in the 80's for skating. OMG. Instead for us it was thrasher mags, rewinding VCR tapes so that picture was blurred in that section.
Right!! One of my best friends that I met in middle school in health class had his uncle build a half pipe in his back yard. No vert 6ft x 18x??? But you shouldve seen the night we put waterproofing on in... Yeah we skated it and fell all over the damn place lol
I would also like to do it but unfortunately in my country is no Vert ramp. We have big mini ramps but not a real vert. I couldn’t even drop in from the tiniest ramp 😂 But now I love to watch vert skating so much, I would like to learn it but I was always scared. Skating stairs and big rails is ok but ramps scared me too much. I hope you do it now or already did it. Good luck 😊
You got this. You just gotta ask yourself how bad do I want this? How far am I willing to go to get this? And you will get it if your soul wants to do it. Skateboarding it's a feeling
I can drop in on a 5 foot, an I was so scared for ages to even drop in on a little ramp. It's all about commitment. I got my friend to hold my hands and I just slammed it. Gave me the confidence and I knew I could do it.
The first time I dropped a vert ramp I fell off on the flat botton because I was not familiarized of the speed, but I did not hurt myself. So I tried again and I get it.
Paulo Athayde damn. Good reason to work your way up with smaller vert, bowls and the like. Glad you're alright. Really glad you went back again and got it. Cheers.
Paulo Athayde I did the same 15 years ago. 11 foot vert, straight to the flat bottom. But I broke my arm, humorous. (Wasn't that funny.) Sleeping sitting up for 2 months. All good now but haven't dropped in on anything bigger than 6 foot since. 👍
I did that with my first halfpipe drop in. I did it way too early, I couldn't even get up at this point. I did it first try and then was so surprised that I just turned a bit and left the halfpipe at the side. With the halfpipe tho, I learned to get a good air first before learning to drop in. Worked a lot better.
When I was younger I could drop in on a 10ft in one day after learning to drop in on a 4ft at the same park. The motion is exactly the same was my first time dropping in to age 14 I think. And here is am age 28 having not skated for 12 years and realising I can't drop in anymore and forget about pivoting on the very nope muscle memory is gone and my local park only has 8ft verts and roll ins on the other side. I can get my front wheels about 2cm from the lip of the vert and come back down in switch but standing at the coping and propping my board over the edge is something else now. Haha getting there but just a heck of alot more rust than I thought there would be jumping into a board again. Ain't like riding a bike.
Watching Andy did help me drop in again. I do get scared when I walk up to big vert even though when I was a young man back in the mid 1980's, I have dropped in on vert ramps thousands of times like it was nothing. Sometimes I used to just tell myself in my head that I was just re-entering from a fakie ollie when dropping in. I still find that thought useful.
The quarantine has forced my favorite park (indoor) in Green Bay, WI to close their doors temporarily, and for some reason, all I can think about is their vert ramp and how I never tried to do much more than pumps and kick turns... my mind is ready to take it up, but now I'm forced to wait this pandemic out before I can return. I'm saving this video because I'll be studying it when I finally can return to GBASO!!!
Our local skatepark is currently building a vert. We had a vert in an old skatepark back like 10 years ago, and being a young new skater, i never dared to drop it. Now I feel more confident having watched this. Just gotta do it, not spend too much time thinking about it.. Can't wait
Dude i just realized i live next to kona skatepark. About 10 mins from my navy base. It has one of these and i started skating it. I'm gonna drop in 2 days from now when i go back!
My 5 year old son wanted to learn skateboarding so I got a couple decks and started with him been riding for 3 months dropped in my first 6ft there is a vert at the park but it has like 4ft of vert I tried to pump my way to the top and ate shit need pads for sure next time
I'm trying to come back after 10 years. I ride goofy weighing 220lbs. Left ankle gives out and I get sprains and I've fractured the left side of my ribs a few times lmao.
Been 10 years myself and I went no pads on a drop in and hurt my shoulder and ankle a bit haha. Definitely a reality check that I’m not as young as I used to be haha. Just gotta wear pads and a helmet now which I would have refused back in the day.
I think the most critical point here for me is that when he said that most people are used to dropping in on a smaller ramp and it doesn't take as long and start to stand up halfway through. this is my problem, i can drop in fine on vert but i can't keep my speed
Dude I tried that stomping technique on a vert ramp and fell into the other side yes I rode away from the wall but then slammed into the other one leaving a huge fucking sweat stain I crawled back up kicked my board over grab my nose and just fell in worked way easier
I've never done vert. There were no skate parks were I was. To this day, I don't understand how they launch into the air like that. I've always said, I bet that shit is scary if you just learning....
The thing is when you go up the ramp, you start going back down it but in switch, so you fall on your face. You gotta learn pivoting at the top of it so you aren't in switch, and therefore remain balanced. To launch out idk how to do that
I feel like teaching people how to stand on a board with bend knees in a vert ramp tutorial is a bit out of place. The proper advice would be to not skate vert if you don't know how to bend your knees.
I believe that, before you get start to vert , you need a base from street and you must know the basic tricks like Ollie, Kickflip, Hellflip, backside, frontside, pop shove it, boardslide, grinds, bigspin and do not be afraid of speed and height.
When he said it’s time to drop in, I knew that was the one thing that i couldn’t do in this guide
You probably dont give a shit but does any of you know a way to get back into an instagram account??
I was stupid lost the account password. I would appreciate any tips you can offer me.
@Jace Eliseo instablaster ;)
@Markus Jason Thanks so much for your reply. I got to the site through google and Im in the hacking process now.

@Markus Jason it did the trick and I finally got access to my account again. I'm so happy:D
Thanks so much you really help me out!
@Jace Eliseo no problem =)
On video vert looks easy but it's hard af.
It also doesn't look that intimidating at the bottom but you get to the top and you're like "yeah nah". I've decided to can attempting to drop in until 1) I save up for pads and 2) I can pump all the way from the bottom to the coping
i feel like its harder to find a vert ramp
@@airpodsmurf6175 exactly
100%
its not hard at all just go straight stay crouched and ride it out.
Dropping in is like trying to play a song on the guitar when you aren't ready.

Nah man, just eat the ramp a few times, get the feeling down , get over the fear and commit. Just drop 🤘🏻
Fantastic video... I wish I had UA-cam 30 years ago when I learned to drop in the hard way... Flawless technique and tips from Andy...
So true.... if we had UA-cam in the 80's for skating. OMG. Instead for us it was thrasher mags, rewinding VCR tapes so that picture was blurred in that section.
Marcio Moerbeck the best

Skating vert is something I always wanted to do when I first started skating back in like 1998. Never did get off the street though.
Do it now then
I would also like to do it but unfortunately in my country is no Vert ramp. We have big mini ramps but not a real vert.

I completely slammed today on a 4 foot dropping in. I need this!! I love vert and perhaps with hard work and determination ill get there
for sur, lot of motivation but at least it's enjoyable :)
Just lean forward, fully commit and you got it man! Leaning back is the way most people get hurt.
You got this. You just gotta ask yourself how bad do I want this? How far am I willing to go to get this? And you will get it if your soul wants to do it. Skateboarding it's a feeling

Excellent. Thanks 'Basics of Vert Ramp Skateboarding with Andy MacDonald'. What a nice YMCA.
Thanks for the feedback Joel. Stay safe out there.

I fell on the flat bottom from the top my first go 😂 haven’t been game to try again (was about a month ago)

Hey! Did they ever finish the vert ramp? Did u drop in it?
Dropping in is probably the scariest thing I will never do! Im starting from the bottom, all day long. Stil having a blast 😊
Awesome teacher!
Been skating for 6 months. This is the week I hope to drop in on vert.
Well done. I’m learning.
thaaaaank yoooouuuu this gave me confidence
Never think. Just do. If you think, you will syk yourself and you will fall/freakout. You got this
Vert skating is so underrated nowadays it’s not like back in the late 90s and mid 2000s where vert was at its peak
Many thanks, man. These are great tips
Great videos Andy! they are very helpful. Thank you so much for sharing.
very nice explained! it looks so easy....
Super cool video. Now please stop raining so I can go and train!
gawd this vid needs more clicks, so helpful thanks!!!
This is a dream to skate a vert that’s big like this one
great video!! thank u a lot
That was fantastic coaching
This video is so well written, kudos to everyone involved!
It´s so easy to forget to bend knees...because it´s hard work but it´s defently the way to skate!! ;-)
on point, very helpful
Love this. Thanks brah

Kellie Nicole Brooks Schettino we have tons tho. Especially in south Florida what area you in?
Skated Vert Ramp and the park at KONA sk8 park in Jacksonville Florida he was super cool
Except he skated with a yellow helmet
That was awesome.
Bend your knees = More balance

get good bearings and wheels for speed (the harder and bigger wheel the better)
nice video
Street skater here venturing into new territories
came here after watching Big Boy not bend his knees before dropping in on a 13 footer
He almost broke the ramp with that slam
I'm 44 years old. Think I can do this? Been dreaming about it.
If hawk can do it in his late 50s u can too.
Im 30 and just starting out 😂
what ymca has a skate park
I read his book
I don't know why but when ever I get high kick turn on a vert ramp I fall
Kelly Hart rules
HIS HELMET ISNT YELLOW! NOT THE REAL ANDY MAC
Wish it was still skateboard only
Hi
How to Deal with a coping that is infront/ over the vert Part of tha halfpipe?
wasyhasy you mean like coping that looking like it’s to far over the ramp?
and where do i find a vert ?
Do vert skaters need to Ollie? I’ve always wondered that...
Likely depends on the trick I'm assuming. But if you're just dropping in, gravity and physics do most of the work.
Music during the explanations...plz...
i just got a quarter pipe and it’s so scary
Does any one know if you pop to get air on a very or do you just go fast?
you can totally get air on vert! just depends on what you’re doing
To this day, I don't understand how they launch into the air like that.

spaghetti air walks
The music is dam annoying......but great instructional video.

I feel like teaching people how to stand on a board with bend knees in a vert ramp tutorial is a bit out of place.
The proper advice would be to not skate vert if you don't know how to bend your knees.
Adrenaline is the reason for vert. If you don't know that? You dont know vert, period.

Why would I need a kickflip for vert ? lmao
Or u could do some retro style vert , and not need to Ollie at all
