i saw the movie and as an avid Eva fan, I have to come back to your videos and agree. IDK how people appreciate something so crammed.The first 3 movies had a water down storytelling that's completely off from what the final movie was.
I don't understand why people are hating on Shinji. Yes he needs to grow up, but he also needs to treasure his youth and not waste it. I feel like it is very idiotic to me that people hated Shinji in 3.0(I am talking about fans). When in reality, if all the other characters were actually smart, none of what he did would have happened. I feel like the people who say that Shinji should just man up in the snap of a finger, and just deal with it, are no different than the people who hate Shinji becuase he isnt the perfect larger than life character. He is a 14 year old kid who was thrust into this world, ofcourse he would do what he did. I also feel like Anno using Wille, and Asuka was trying to represent toxic fans of the series to a certain degree. This video gets too much hate, although I can see why people do get salty over this.
The movie really just made me feel nothing. I read the spoilers and shit posted back when it released but I thought maybe seeing it would make it better or worse but it was really just like bleh.

Even the most experienced and well - respected movie critics and writers very often find themselves in disagreement when it comes to both the "objective" metrics of judging art, as well as their practical implementation...

The good things it does have only come to music, and the general concepts which are done very terrible from a technical and story telling perspective. And many UA-camrs would agree with me. If you look at Intermediate O's full movie watchalong he discusses how the movie is so bad from a technical standpoint. Goat Jesus also had a live review a few months ago that he deleted for some reason, however he stated more of his thoughts with Eva monkey. I don't hate the movie, but I definitely don't like it either. I'm interested tho, what did you find about the movie that was good in your eyes. In my opinion there wasnt very much good in it.

This had me dying the first time. Even though I would disagree that this movie is bad in itself. I do agree with alot of the problems you have with it though. That's exactly why I rated it a 7/10
Do you know that Kaworu was probably made with Gendo DNA? Since he called him father in 2.22. Plus, he ended up with Rei, and that's make sense, since they are the human forms of Adam and Lilith (And Gendo and Yui). Even Shinji compare him to his father. It was all planned.

people like you who only watched this series for asuka really set your expectations too high. there’s nothing wrong with not liking the movie, but you don’t have to shit on it so hard just because shinji ended up with someone else.
There was never a need for mari in the first place, the same train station scene is in the manga already with Shinji and asuka and the manga train station version makes much more sense as Shinji meets asuka for the first time as a college student. I really don't understand what was the point of having mari there, plus the fact that chronologically she's 50 or something and Shinji is 28
That's not what hes mad about, hes mad about how poorly executed Shinjis and Maris relationship was. Mari, with the development that she is given, represents the pure otaku fantasy, that's why it's bad. Mari got nearly zero development.

Basically 3.0 + 1.0 in a nutshell
It was better than I expected. Pretty reminiscent of the End of Evangelion film in large swaths. I didn't like 1 2 or 3 though.

The film was actually good but there were some things that could have been done correctly but overall Anno did a fantastic job. I loved it
