And this guy makes the game far too confusing. Better to find the moves elsewhere than listen to his nonstop tangents of WHAT DID NOT HAPPEN IN THIS GAME. Ridiculous!
Amazing how well the commentator nose chest considering he's blind.. I saw him at a meet-up in Vegas and was dumbfounded that the sunglasses aren't actually just for show.
Im pretty new to chess, but is this a case of "im gonna go for the trick, knowing that if Magnus doesnt fall for it, I just lose"? Or GMs don't think like that?
I'm guessing he didn't realize it was losing. Maybe if you were in time trouble, a tricky move would be worth a try against Magnus. Magnus actually played a move he knew was losing against Bill Gates, but he knew Bill Gates was probably a weak player.
yeah but this is what Bobby Fisher was telling you at if you have a great memory you can become a great chess player you just memorize the openings but you're not being creative you're not thinking and you know if you go down the road and you happen to forget a line on an opening then you're screwed you know so this is what he did not like about chess that your opponent just memorize more stuff than you and you couldn't remember and not only that you couldn't calculate either get the best outcome so yeah this isn't such a great game
I have a tendency to be long winded sometimes. Its something that I have been working on. When it comes to chess videos, I often get carried away with alternative variations which I then have to prune down for the sake of brevity. Did you know that before editing sometimes my videos are over 30 minutes? Its difficult choosing which alternative variations to eliminate because they are all important to understanding why the players made the moves that they did! I want the audience to have the best understanding of the game possible, but I do realize that for a lot of people that is not the goal. They just want to see some chess moves and be entertained. But I don't like saying "this is the best move" without fully explaining why. I mean anyone can put the moves in Stockfish. Sometimes I will try to give a general idea as to why a move is played, but then I fear that the audience will think its a purely positional move when the real reason it works is based on concrete tactics which I have not shown. So this is the challenge I face. Of course anything else besides move explanation that takes up time in my video is meant to be entertaining. If you were not entertained, then I am sorry for that, but I must continue my balancing act between what I think is good content and what the average viewer wants to see.
You made a 12 move game into a 14 minute video that was too convoluted. Could have kept the original game separate and then gone into analysis. It also helps if you do it like Epic Cheese where he makes the board lighter when showing variations and alternative lines of the same game.
And we used to be able to buy a single ten-penny nail. Economics these days make that kind of customer generosity (& your fine suggestions, apparently) money losers.
2:40 this is a bad presentation; too hard to tell what the the actual games moves are because you are going off on too many tangents; counterfactuals thrown in; annoying; play this game; not every variation, silly.
I try to keep the variations to a minimum, but you can't really understand the moves that are actually played unless you look at some alternative lines
Finding this channel feels like freaking Christmas morning!
wow thanks! I've had pretty positive feedback on this one -- nice to see people interested in classic games from the past
I haven't enjoyed chess content like this since I found Agamaters channel years ago when he had like 20K subscribers. Keep up the content, friend
To have memorised this trap after so many potential variations implies Magnus must have memorised an almost infinite amount of opening variations.
it would be alot! but he does have an incredible memory!
Isn’t that what Bobby Fischer hated about chess today?!
Thats what I was thinking. If I had this kind of memory, I wouldn't be rated 1000
My chess is so crappy but this video has helped. Love the presentation - Straight forward, to the point.
Thank you so much and I am glad it has helped!
Magnus makes it look way too easy!
I think his opponents play worse because they know its Magnus
1:18 the game moves start here.
What was the time limit? 3+2?
Would it be good to just take the pinned knight at 12:29?
Well explained sir. Thanks. Subbed.
Awesome, I appreciate it!
Wow that's great explain actions
Thanks, glad you enjoyed!
And this guy makes the game far too confusing. Better to find the moves elsewhere than listen to his nonstop tangents of WHAT DID NOT HAPPEN IN THIS GAME. Ridiculous!
Good traps to know!
👍Thanks for watching!
Yuh, it's idealistic
An eval bar would have been interesting for this game.
Adding it in future videos!
I’m no MC but I saw the power of a3 in the first example - of course I didn’t know how to get there!
If you think you are trapping Magnus-then you are probably about to lose!
Nice content. 10mins is my max concentration time-so this was good.
Thanks! Glad you enjoyed!
6:28 When it came to options, I thought of Bb5+.
Now I see why that is stupid. 1. ... Nxb5+.
Good you are looking for checks though!
Amazing how well the commentator nose chest considering he's blind.. I saw him at a meet-up in Vegas and was dumbfounded that the sunglasses aren't actually just for show.
Lol
dxc5 is very hard for black to play, I have a plus record against USCF experts in long games
Yeah its interesting how many people will play openings that require specialist without taking the time to study them sufficiently
@@squareonechess6939 my opponents don't lose as often when they just play Qxc5 instead of Qxd1+
dude, the sunglasses are cheesy

Such a great content🥰
Thanks!
if ...Bd6 is followed by Nc4, then can't black play Nb5 to defend the bishop?
SAVAGE....BRUTAL...BRIEF!!!!! ELITE!!!! LOL
Pretty much sums it up lol
#6:56 Nb5
At this point, I doubt I will ever forget it
whats with the glasses
They block the horizontally polarized light

Great game? No, but interesting nevertheless!
you need to try more punctuation. Trying to sound smart not using punctuation ramble is very 10 years ago
This is a great channel,
Thank you!
f magnus was black in the final position do you think he'd have resigned? By the way, why are you wearing sunglasses indoors?
niko niko niii!
What’s with the sunglasses.
Oh magnus ….sigh…he’s like saitama the one punch man
Indeed!
It's a 12 move game that you blathered on about for nearly 15 minutes.

Amazing game❤
Opo!
elephant gambit, baby !!
hell yes
Felt a sleep
That's not ideal. Any suggestions?
Very nice.
Thank you

Duly noted, thanks!
How did your video compare to his or Epic Cheese's alexkt? Was it's the best of the three?
I gave up..l totally lost what moves were actually made 😢
And we used to be able to buy a single ten-penny nail.
Economics these days make that kind of customer generosity (& your fine suggestions, apparently) money losers.
I like it❤
Glad you enjoyed!
Kevin Spacey teaching chess.
Ha ha ha. Oh dear. I guess its better than Mr. Clean!

I just don't like this analysis, so MANY theoreeticals, that, I don't feel I'm learning anything
After the 10th "this is not what was played in the game", I stopped watching.
