    Why is this comment section filled with people who speak poor english and want you to share the exact building instruction via email? It's oddly specific and strange seeing how dead simple the construction is.

    if you want to slow it down even faster without having to use your fingers then take the clip leads after you've disconnected them from the motor and connect them together (essentially short the motor terminals together). This will in effect turn the motor into a dynamic brake.

    Here is a link to a gyroscopically balanced train that had millions spent on it. Brilliant. I messed around trying to balance a scooter, but as my workshop was the spare bedroom I eventually chickened out because if the flywheel had come loose it would have crossed the room to the wall, and burnt it's way through the floor till it got to the kitchen, and my missus would have had a field day! Good fun though. I used steel as it is plenty strong enough.

      There was a legit car made in like, the 60s or 70s, that used a gyroscope to do this (two wheel gyroscope stabilized car)
      the company went bankrupt before perfecting it and ever since then it's been in a retro car museum.
      It's old tech that could've revolutionized recent year car tech.
      edit: it's called the gyro-x and it uses 2 trainer wheels or something to keep the car balanced when the gyroscope is turned off and when it's on, the small wheels retract so it's only the two main wheels on the vehicle.

    • @OkkiMoeljadi
      @OkkiMoeljadi  8 років тому +2

      Actually I did but I did not make video of it. I can even move it forward and backward. The platform is stable as long as the front wheel does not turn. I think I have to implement some kind of active gymbal controlling in order to make that platform steerable but I don't have the components right now. At the moment I'm busy with my other projects. These other projects cost me much time and money. I have to be patient until I can continue this gyro-project. Anyway thanks for your comment.

    The simple minded people in the comments going off about the materials used have no clue why the wheel needs to have mass in the first place... "I pity your stupidity."

    hi mate, you have three holes on either side of your gimbal - what difference did changing the mounting position make? it runs better than my attempt!

    • @OkkiMoeljadi
      @OkkiMoeljadi  8 років тому

      Hi John, yes I have tried different gimbal pivot positions. This position works best for me. The other 2 positions make the gimbal deviates in wider angle very quickly, thus the car will not stand up long. Thanks for your comment.

    Or is it the case that the heaviest part of the gyro, in this case the rotor, must still be on top? Will your gyrocar self-balance with the rotor running on the bottom?

    • @OkkiMoeljadi
      @OkkiMoeljadi  8 років тому

      +Jimmy Demello Hi, thanks for your comments. You are passing correct information. The gyro has to be top heavy. In my case the wheel is heaviest part of the gyro. I have tried to put heavier part at the bottom (motor on top) but it won't work. I think we can observe the natural movement of a free gyroscope like children´s toy (the gyro will make some kind of rotational movement/precession). In our case we lock the movement on 2 axis (one front-rear wheel axis and the other ist the gyro bearing). The gyro precession stays the same (it just splits the movement into 2 axis). It is a compliment for me that you commented on my video. Actually I got the idea to build this thing from your videos. Have you tried to regulate the gyro directly, instead of putting counterweight and move it from side to side? Thanks again for your comments.

      Thanks Okki for the clarification. I always worry I'm putting out the wrong info. Your gyrocar looks great - very professional and the rotor is fantastic - very smooth. I am working on using a servo to control the gimbal. I did it once before but the gyroscope was so unbalanced and vibrated so badly that the sensor was useless so I was unsuccessful. I had a rotor machined but left it in the US - am now in Shangluo, China and have to play with whatever stuff I can come up with here. Hope yours works as planned. You probably saw my final gyrobike project - just to let you know, it would turn left but usually fell over if I turned sharp right - I guess like the C-1 they have to use two gyroscopes. But it was still a kick to get it working.

      @OkkiMoeljadi  8 років тому

      +Jimmy Demello Don't worry. You do a great job. About this gyrocar: I don't think that I can finish this soon as I have another project which has higher priority. I'm trying to finish my gasoline vapor system for car, so that I can save money on gas. Anyway, I was wondering why C-1 has two gyros and gyro-x has only one (maybe I'm wrong here). And why gyro-x can turn both directions without any stability problem (according some UA-cam Videos). What I would like to know is how sharp C-1 and gyro-x can turn. And also if it is possible to do sharp turn at high speed. Are you planning to come back to US or will you settle down in Shangluo? Regards, Okki.

    • @demej00
      @demej00 8 років тому

      Gas vapor system sounds like a cool project. Yes, I wondered about the gyro-x car too and I think because it had a much larger rotor it was able to compensate a bit but I seem to remember that the builder of the car says there were unspecified problems at high speed. I would have to find that reference and will look for it. Also, I have never seen the C-1 at speed yet - they always seem to be going slow or in a straight line. I plan to stay in china as long as I can because I really love being here and working with my university students. Life for me, at 62, in America is pretty boring. I hope you continue your gyrocar work as it looks like a real winner - especially using active gimbal control as there are no projects out there that really give the details of how to build one other than patents - I can't read patentese. There are a couple guys out there with their self-balance monorails but they seem pretty tight-lipped about the details - hope that is not unfair to say. Anyway, good luck with your projects.

      +Jimmy Demello Thank you for your support and friendly conversation. This gives me motivation to push my gyro project forward. I will post my progress about this project. Now I'm wondering how beautiful this life would be if everybody in this world can have or make this kind of dialog. Everybody respect each other, talking honestly with open mind, supporting each other and so on... but I think I'm just dreaming.

    Guess I have been passing wrong information out there about gyro balancing. I was only able to make mine balance if the motor was on top and top heavy. Seems though in your case that as long as the flywheel is massive enough, it does not have to be top heavy.

    you need two counter spinning gyro discs, able to instantly turn 90 degrees, or even 4 counter spinning gyro discs mounted on a flat circular holder, then have them all counter spinning and then flip the orientation from horizontal to vertical, see how fast it wants to go straight up :D the ufo disc shaped craft code is cracked, i have a few perfect disc shaped craft on my channel if there is any interest at all.

    Can anyone explain why the gyro only pivots on one axis perpendicular to the stabilized axis? I've seen the same thing on boat gyros and curious.
