There’s just one problem with watching a soap making video, I can’t smell them! 😂 Your little soap kitchen must smell divine ❤ A lot of work goes into it! I’m impressed with everything you do.
I have a whole new appreciation for handmade soaps after watching your video. I never realized how many steps were involved and yours turned out amazing! I can just imagine how wonderful they must smell ❤
Hearing you say that you like to have several things going at once makes me think of you being in a circus and having all those plates spinning on top of sticks! I bet you could keep a bunch going!👏 You’ve come so far since watching your first soap making video! The names of those soaps sound as amazing as they must smell! So creative! Chocolate covered strawberry! I’m dying here!!!😍👍 It’s always a good day when Mary’s making soap!🧼
I will start by saying that I am not a soap maker…yet! I’ve been watching a lot of videos to learn and have seen other makers use 99% alcohol sprayed on the tops of the soap after pouring to help prevent soda ash. Thought it was worth mentioning if you want to give it a try. Thanks for the great video!
Yes to this! I always spray alcohol on top. Usually almost right away and then I spray a couple more times in the first hour or so. I seldom have ash. ~Marita
Also you can steam the tops of the loafs that have the soda ash after saponification. When about to release from the mould, instead steam the whole top surface area and leave to dry for a few hours. I often do it at night so I remove a dry loaf in the morning, then cut. Leaves a shining brighter colouring and milky ash gone. Bought myself a tiny steamer jug kettle on Amazon dedicated to shiny bright soda free textured tops. LOVE THIS VIDEO, inspiring, and a great promoter of the beauty and value of handmade soaps. When I want to go into a calm space free of the worldly chaos, I turn inward and either make soap, meditate or read life-affirming books. Bless ya. 🍓
I love your Music City, Tn shirt. I was born and raised in Nashville. One of the few around any more. I hope to be able to visit your city one day. My husband and I love to visit smaller towns and cities. Thank you for the soap tutorial. I think they all turned out beautiful. Love your channel.
I'm so sorry to hear that someone is saying bad things. I have watched you for a long time and have never seen any of what they're saying. Please keep on doing what you're doing! Some people have to be so unhappy that they can't stand when others are happy, so they try to take them down instead of building them up. Love your videos and A drill and a dream. You're a great family .
First soap making video I’ve watched. My grandmother made all our soap (yes using lye). I didn’t know what store bought soap was until my grandma died in 1970. I’m going on 68 and realize that my younger years were spent caught up in modernization. Now that I’m retired some of the old days are coming back into my life.
Hi Robin, just reading your comment as a soap maker myself (self taught during lock down) , you should try it out for yourself. It's such a brilliant thing to learn because once you learn it, it's for a lifetime and one bonus is you can make the best soaps & gifts ever, all by your own design. Once you use handmade soap again your skin will hardly ever need moisturiser lol.
HI Mary! Have you thought about making soap on a rope? It is difficult to find these days..I remember EVERY Christmas my Dad would request soap on a rope. He liked that it wouldnt slip out of his hand, and it didnt get soggy sitting in a soap dish. Your soaps are beautiful and Im sure they smell even better than they look. Thankyou for sharing your talents😊❤
I have tried a lot of handmade soaps but yours are by FAR my favorite and nothing else even comes close. I'll be watching your shop so I can pounce on some of your new fragrances. I am so hooked on your Lemongrass that I need to always have one bar of that in my shower along with a new one.
I wanna make soap now! I love your Nashville shirt! That's where I'm from! We share a love of classic country music. That's why I'm here! My dad moved here to pursue music and met my mom! We live 30 minutes west of Nashville now. - Your biggest fan from TN Love you Mary Everyone in my life knows your name now! I'm like, "You need to watch Mary!"
All that soap ❤ I can imagine the beautiful smell that must be swirling around your home ... delightful. The strawberry 🍓 soap could be also a watermelon 🍉 one 😊 they all look fabulous to me. We'll done Mary.
8 months ago, I watched this video, I was hooked, I then took a cold process soap making course here in the UK. I absolutely love making soap. I can't stop 😂😂
Such care and love that you put into creating soaps and then showing us how you do it. Thank you, Mary. P.S. Give Pebbles and Twinkles the big squeeze for me... they look like they could take some love from those who follow your channel.
If you use a small handheld clothing steamer on your soaps that have soda ash on them the soda ash disappears and you have nice shiny soap. I do this about a week before they are fully cured. I never really worry about soda ash because this method works wonderfully. Thank you for the wonderful video. Makes me want to get back to work making soaps again. Hugs to you and yours.
🥰Wow - wish we had smell-a-vision ! I think your strawberries came out pretty good for a first attempt - they put me in mind of Christmas Puddings too 🎄 - could be a great seasonal round-shaped soap to make with a small tweak of the colours and a fruity/spicy scent! I love your workspace, and yes - an organised space is a productive one 🙂
Loved this video. I have always wanted to try to make my own soap. I am so glad I saw that you had restocked the Lily of the Valley and others at the beginning of the week and totally grabbed several. Thank you so much for all you do! You are truly an inspiration.
Hola me encantan tus vídeos no me pierdo ninguno tengo mucho tiempo siguiendo te e aprendido mucho me gusta tu decoración soy de Jalisco México saludos
I deeply enjoyed watching this video. Mary, you’re so talented. The strawberry soap reminded me of Christmas. All the soaps I would buy. Thank you for sharing the soap making process. I love handmade soaps, and have a much deeper appreciation for the love that gets put into each one. ❤
You have the perfect place to hold classes for your candle, soaps and signs. my sister and I are planning a trip to Amish country. You inspire me to be a blessing with all that you do. I have sold my business of Event planning 2 years ago, but I am wanting to still have an income so that I can give and share. We are in our 70's never to late is my motto.
They look wonderful Mary, Lilac is probably my very favorite sent. I noticed yesterday that my lilac brush is blooming. I couldn’t help but stop the car as I was turning into the driveway to hop out and smell the wonderful blooms. They smelled so good. You have the perfect area to make soap. Someday I may try the process myself. Thank for doing this video. Ann from Va.
You are so creative, on the chocolate covered strawberries maybe skip the green and just a thin sheen of chocolate and a small drizzle of white. I love the idea and ai bet it smells amazing. I have loved all the scents I have bought from you. Also an idea for spring, grow loofahs and add those to your line as a package with the soap.
I enjoyed watching the soap making! I make soap as gifts and I love making it too. So far, I haven't tried any swirls or colors. Your soap-making kitchen is amazing!! What a great set up! Thanks for sharing your process. I will give your recipe a try!
Thanks for sharing your recipe. Most people wouldn't do that. But you are so kind and generous. That is why God is blessing your channel and all your endeavors. Keep it up!
Wow, Mary. This was so interesting! I'm sitting here watching my canner and enjoying your soapmaking late at night while my family sleeps. I hope to someday start making soap, too, just for fun.

@@boop7313- yes, totally agree, provided one uses truly natural ingredients and not their toxic counterparts as so many soap makers do here on YT.
