There is a VERY brief description of the use of this unit in the HP 8640A Operating & Service Manual. It's purpose was to extend the generator output down to 10 kHz (nominal lower limit is 500 kHz) while maintaining the ouput level and modulation characteristics. Very specialized use, probably for servicing VLF equipment such as homers and compass locators (200 -300 kHz range). Regards, David
Interesting found, never knew those existed. But it would also be an very small market which it would be made for. Ps; glad that the subtitles are gone 😊
I posted the teardown of the 11710A on EEV Blog that you mentioned. Looks like we bought units off Trade Me at the same time, from the same original owner. I wonder if there are at least another 5 floating around somewhere from that same range.

Think it was used with HP8640 and similar generators to give frequencies below 500kHz for use with VLF (RX) equipment.

KO4BB has the 26 page service manual......unless you supplied it to them?
Yes that is the one I put up there
How's the progress with the keithley 228? You never showed full check out.
All manuals are available for that model.
Yes I need to revisit that one to actually test it fully to ensure it works as 4 quadrant etc.
nice that like me you buy stuff you actually have no use for🙂
That’s what happens when all blokes go shopping……..
Cool.
YTer The Signal Path might have some knowledge?
Was it a drunk purchase? lol
