I feel like the Lance got the best draw in terms of raw versatility with its styles. Like, basically every other weapon there's either one that's too gimmicky or specific, or there's one that's just 'the best', but with the Lance here, every style has a purpose. Striker is for swift Evade Lancing, Bushido is literally just better Guard Lancing, Aerial Lancing is now a brand new entirely different thing that I can see being useful and enjoyable, and Guild is Guild so it's perfect for people who don't want gimmicks and just want to Lance however they feel. I really like how that worked out for it.
For Gunlance there isn't a best style too. When you play a normal-type gunlance where you prefer to use full burst, Bushido and Aerial are top, when you use a long-type one, where you use normal shells and full bursts nearly the same amount, Guild and Bushido seems to be your choice. With a wide/spread-type Gunlance, where your focus lays on shelling without full bursts, striker seems to be quite awesome.
I think Striker GL is more fit for Long type, since it's not as focused on shelling as much, but rather uses shells to extend poke combos, and Striker has the triple poke instead of the slam.
I basically main Aerial when I play GL, because the triple poke can be chained off of a jump or a shot, so if you need bullets on a downed or trapped monster, you can tripple poke, jump, poke, shoot, poke. Plus you have the ability to full burst if you happen to smack something that breaks better with impact such as the Daimyo's shell. Though I may give Bushido GL a try with a normal type GL, because I do love explosions.

you can also redirect the bushido double swipe with your circle pad, pretty useful so that situations like at 8:25 wont happen where you timed your block perfectly but cant just attack the monster because it went past you. so back+x in that situation, and you are facing the monster with the double swipe and are ready to combo from it and actually hit the monster.
Bushido looks really great for a guard-lancer like me, can't wait to try it! Aerial style intrigues me too, I use the advancing guard a lot but the forward jump seems really aggressive and fun.

I kept having trouble moving it down (up left and right were fine) so after a few hundred hours, I finally broke it off. Great Video Like always! Though,I find that making a Tutorial for Lance and not specifying you are using evade Distance up could be a bit decieving for for New Players that want to learn the weapon.

Is it possible to guard after a Neutral B Jump in Aerial Style ? If it is, I'm definitely going for Aerial Guard Lancing. I find this jump pretty useful to get a little more mobility when Guard Lancing And for Evade Lancing, Striker all the way (I don't like the triple hit... AT ALL)
Hey, Anyone have any tips for a hunter new to lance who keeps accidentally tripping fellow hunters? I really enjoy the Absolute Evade striker setup. But On every hunt online I find that while I'm charging I tend to catch teamates either by accident or they run right into my path. Any tricks that I don't know of to help this? or is it a Git gud situation?
I hate what happened to the lance. in 4u, I had access to all of the moves so I can toss minions away with the swipe, triple poke like a champ and then do vaulting attacks while charging.

+donbionicle No you can not use the block mid combo, You could never block during any combo in Monster Hunter. Bushido is good for guard lancing which is waiting for an opportunity to strike by guarding through a monster's attack. Bushido Lance is amazing and fun
Yes, I know you couldn't block mid-combo before, that's why I asked. It's because the way I guard lance is you put yourself next to the monster, and use counters mid-swinging whenever it's about to hit you so you don't _have_ to wait for an opportunity. Using Bushido, I would have to change that style. Interesting.
i personally use gs for that, it works for most monsters and i find it easier to break parts when i have few very strong attacks compared to lots of small ones (which often mess up your positioning)

Lance is really strong in this game I say go Lance, both Striker (for evade lancers) and Bushido (for Guard lancers) are amazing styles and all three arts are fucking awesome....with the Guard rage beating out the other two slightly because its a buff and allows for more dps. GL is really good in this game and even if you can keep up your heat gauge to red at all times, the weapon was kind of nerfed to compensate for that, but all its arts are great....its styles on the other hand come down to you. I only really like guild and Aerial.

They don't really want you, then. Thanks to Frontier and Japanese tastes in general, MH is sliding towards the over-the-top visual style of animefication. Whereas before it was closer to something like Dark Souls, now it's getting to Dynasty Warriors or Final Fantasy. It's the spectacle arms race.

Never understood why Gunlance doesn't have a guard advance, Lance already has great mobility and DPS... does it really need top tier defense as well??? Keep the counter, but give the guard advance to Gunlance, it desperately needs it.

You forgot that the ending stab to the lance charge in striker style gives a 40% attack boost.

i dont know if you guys know it but the jump animation of the lance also has guarding capabilities

I usually mix guarding with evading evasion +2 is enough for me must of the time and I use guard up for safety reasons

I'd say that Striker style is most familiar to those starting off in Monster Hunter 4 Ultimate (With the normal 3-hit combo).
Since o am used to playing reckless with the Lance Since MHF2 i would love Striker
Btw, it is easier to use the ram attack to pursue monsters rather than hopping backwards.

+C Johnston Lance def is the best, the shield has the same power but the defensive abilities are superior than any other weapon.
Lance feels weird to me not because of how it moves, but because I played GL in 3u. It feels weird not having a lance slam.

You don't need Evasion +3 for evade lancing, you can do it with Evasion +2 :)

The 3rd hit on many of the styles ruins this weapon. Way too slow and leaves you wide open. I mained it in 4, 4G and hate it in MHX.

Ive tried 100000 times, i cant seem to "jump". B just stops every time. Forward+B, Back +B, etc. I'm also waiting a few seconds into the charge.

Have you seen Oni's Goshoryuken? Ryu doesn't do the downward slam afterwards like Oni does.
