This guy is seriously one of the coolest people on UA-cam. Fact.
"What A Fool Believes" received Grammy Awards in 1980 for both Song of the Year and Record of the Year. Just the best song of the Year for me.
You have to listen to Michael McDonald “ keep forgetting”
Kelly Brocato You will recognise “I Keep Forgetting” from Warren G’s Regulate 💚
OMG! YES
My FAVOURITE EVER SONG🥰🥰🥰🥰🥰Kelly!
Yes....👍
it's a clear black night, a clear white moon~~~~~~
Love Michael McDonald's voice is so smooth.
“Takin it to the Streets”, “Minute by Minute”, “She Belongs to Me” just to name a few.
China Grove, many others
She belongs to me? Not familiar with that doobie bros track. Is it the Dylan song? Not sure I ever heard them do a cover.
EDIT: darned autospell.
It’s ‘You Belong To Me’ rather than ‘She Belongs To Me’ but it’s wonderful whichever title!
No...Black Water and The Doctor.
@@martingrey2231 No, I stated my preference
"The wise man has the power...to reason away." Great lyrics.
I've even chopped wood to this song, coming from the radio in my truck.
The bearded guy in the middle = Michael McDonald, the voice! You must react to his solo stuff: “I Keep Forgettin’”, and “On My Own” with Patti LaBelle. Also check out “Takin it to the Streets” with the Doobies. Also check out his unmistakeable background vocals in “Peg” by Steely Dan, and “This is It” by Kenny Loggins. You will like them! 😍
Top picks for sure!
Memories of summer days in the park, tossing a frisbee ... someone cranks up the Doobies
Their grammy performance of this song is great.
"What a Fool believes he sees, the wise man has the power to reason away."
Michael McDonald--one of the smoothest voices in all of rock. He's amazing. Minute by Minute is another great groove with him and the Doobies.
"What a fool believes he sees, NO wise man has the power to reason away", as written on the lyric sheet of the album.
No Wiseman!
What a fool believes he sees, no wise man has the power to reason away...
Either way works, really..."the wise man has the power to reason away" means that a smarter man would realize she's not into him, while "no wise man has the power to reason away" means that a smarter man can't talk the fool out of his unrequited love. But if the published lyric is the latter, then we'll go with that.
@@hankamania I think it's more that even a wise man could be blinded by the idea of reigniting the relationship being talked about
The band doing their thing on the instruments is a lost art. Everything comes together like freakin pudding
Earth Wind & Fire's 'After the Love Has Gone' is a pretty underrated treasure. If you dig the harmonies, I think you'll love this!
Saw them a few years ago live, wonderful!
Might I strongly suggest Phil Collins and Philip Bailey “Easy Lover”. The song and video is great. Quite a duo.
More famous for his solo career, Michael Macdonald has a soulful voice and did great duets with Patti Labelle ‘On my own’ and James Ingram ‘Ya mo be there’. His voice really lends itself to ballads, so listen to ‘I can let go now’ a beautiful song about coming to terms with a break up. He was a member of Steely Dan and the Doobie Brothers who’s music before he joined was quite different but well worth a listen. China Grove, Long train running and listen to the music are three of their best.
I 2nd Micheal McDonald "I Keep Forgetting". You will definitely enjoy it.
Michael McDonald what a VOICE! AND SOUL! Try, It Keeps You Running. Btw love your reactions dude. Keep riding down my youth.
Phenomenal in concert!!! 💜🎶🎼🎵
I've seen the Doobies 4 times...they're Great!!!
Fantastic SOUND,your doing great,BROADCASTER! STAY WELL,!♥️🐾♥️🐾♥️🐾♥️🐾♥️☘☘☘☘
"Sweet Freedom" is one of the best songs he has ever done. It was in the film Running Scared (1986).
Yessssss! Great tune
Absolutely!
Yes the reaction to Earth Wind Nd Fire’s “September” you will find in a search. Search Jayveetv September.
Beeen falling more and more in love with this song for the last while. Lyrically, melodically, MICHAEL MCDONALDly. What an absolute treat. I’m only partway through and loving your reaction so far. Than you for letting me live another first time listen vicariously - such a treat.
One of the great, most under-rated American bands. They were so good! So many hits.
You are so right, listen to more,. They have evolved many lifetimes and more. You can love them in any era!
Whoever dislikes this song clearly has no soul.
Jayvee, your face just lights up with each new song that brings it to your soul. It's just so awesome to watch it makes me smile ~ Much Love & Musica!
Great reaction. Other songs to check out Listen To The Music, Black Water,, China Grove, Jesus Is Just Alright, a few suggestions to get ya started. Awesome band, great music. Thanks.
This won 2 Grammys in 1980 - song of the year and record of the year. Love this tune and hope that you'll delve deeper into the Doobies by going back a few years pre Michael McDonald days when their lead singer was Tom Johnson. Try "Black Water" or "Long Train Running", "China Grove", "Listen to the Music". Keep exploring J......love your channel!
Absolutely my favorite so I since I was a teen! Love his voice...💜 love watching your reaction to this awesome song😉
That guy just sitting back in the chair strumming his guitar is Jeffrey Allen "Skunk" Baxter. Hes an American guitarist, known for his stints in the rock bands Steely Dan and The Doobie Brothers during the 1970s and Spirit in the 1980s. More recently, he has worked as a defense consultant and chaired a Congressional Advisory Board on missile defense. Backed by several influential Capitol Hill lawmakers, Baxter received a series of security clearances, so he could work with classified information.
Michael McDonald and Patti LaBelle duet "On My Own"!!! 😆 Perfection.
The lead singer is Michael McDonald. He’s the bearded guy in the center of the photo here. I’d like to see you react to “Jane” by Jefferson Starship.
White Rabbit aka:Alice
Chris Slonske Also, Find Your Way Back and Miracles!
Lovely the Doobie brothers. And I love how you decribe what kinda feeling it gives you.
You might check the other 3 brothers "The Beegees and their song: To much heaven".
Their voices are incredibly beautiful and unique. I hope you'll share it, because I really wish to see your reaction on their vocal skills.
Written by Michael McDonald and Kenny Loggins. They won Grammy awards for this song! Please check out Kenny also! Another amazing voice! 💜💜💜
Michael McDonald I Keep Forgetting is an awesome song! Before or after he joined The Doobie Bros he had a great solo career too! So many more great songs from him!
More Doobies please"black water","long train runnin","Jesus is just alright" to name a few more classics by them ☮️
Please consider checking out the song "What about me"? Sung by Kenny Rogers, Kim Carnes and James Ingram. It's such a beautiful trio! Everyone can relate to it.
Gary Kelly Yes please. Black Water
Black Water
Long Train Running!
Black Water ! Yes!
Great reaction to this classic Doobie Brother's hit. Almost anything of their greatest hits you might choose to react to, you can't go wrong with. Thanks for listening to this one, and for the reaction.
I highly recommend a studio version of the Doobie Brothers first No. 1 song (from 1974) called "Black Water" with Patrick Simmons on lead vocals. To me, it is the band's signature song.
I HAVE to sing along with this song EVERY time I hear it!! 💖💙💜⭐
Thats Michael Motha fuckin Mcdonald on vocals. Love the reactions!
Michael Mc Donald.....of the Doobie Brothers....that voice and those eyes....la, la la!
The song is about a guy trying to rekindle an old relationship but the girl apologizes because she never actually had a thing for him.
You are glowing brother! It is so calming and joyous to see you digging and smiling. And I am with you. This song is like a precious treasure. That atmosphere... ooh. I'm like in love with Michael McDonald, hihi😄❤ No, but I really appreciate and respect him and his work. Everything he touch turns into pure gold.
Love from Sweden!🇸🇪❤🌍
YES! MORE DOOBIE BROTHERS! 👏👏👏
Grammy award and song of the year!!
My favorite Doobie song.. Michael is amazing..
On The Losin End a song that didn't get much air play but Michael McDonald's voice is fantastic. From the album Taking To The Streets, Dobbie Brothers
Oh yeah, fantastic jam band group!!! I'd recommend China Grove by them next maybe??? 🤘❤️🤘
I don't remember the group or the song but I have never forgotten that wonderful voice. Thank you Jayvee for I now know his name and that of the band which to me is a great gift from you and your subscribers, thank you all for helping my memory which is addled by my prescription meds. I would suggest listening to Patti Labelle and Michael McDonald singing On My Own, a wonderful duet and two wonderful singers.Take care and stay safe please everyone Mary-Ellen UK
I always wondered what group Michael Mcdonald was in. Thanks for sharing. Loved him on On my Own with Patti Labelle.
Ever listened to Earth Wind and Fire's song September.
You totally emotes my feelings for this song...kitchen dancing with my mom & lil sister while cooking & cleaning together on a Sunday morning 9n the spring with the windows open. Pine Sol & bacon frying aromas in the air, circa 1970's-80's...what a time to be alive!?!!
There was a group called "The Hollies " that came out of England back in 1969 I believe. They were popular back in the 70's and had many hits. The air that I breathe, Bus stop and lots more hits they had. If you could please do a reaction video to " He ain't heavy, he's my brother " I'm sure you won't be disappointed. They recorded that in September of 1969. It's an all time amazing song. Thank you so much.
Now, this band is #1 in my childhood riding in the brown ford van with bench seats and 6 kids at the time lol. 8 track.
That is just a timeless groove that makes me smile everytime i hear it. Harmony and groove is so good. Michael McDonalds voice is solid gold
one of my absolute favourite songs! I loved this as a girl
That's Michael McDonald singing the lead. He had a solo career after leaving the Doobie Brothers. Make sure you check that out also.
Yes he has such a great voice
Doobie did very well after Michael left..
Listen to Wildfire, then find Michael McDonald's FB page... He has a video clip about that song.
Remember Feb. 22 Steely Dan -- Peg, The guy doing the background vocals, that's Michael McDonald!
MIchael McDonald on vocals. He also did some work for "Steely Dan." Very distinctive voice.
Try:
More than A Feeling - by Boston 1975
Baby Come Back - by Player 1977
Georgy Porgy - by Toto 1978
That lead voice is Michael McDonald and he is all over the 80’s and 90’s. As lead singer of several bands background vocals so much that even in background you recognize his voice. A studio singe.many pop solo and group acts used that voice duets to. This intro the doobie bro’s used here lead into new wave music and that into punk and other genres.
You need to hear Ambrosia's "Biggest Part of Me" and also "How Much I Feel" if you haven't already.
Stumbled upon your channel. Love your organic reactions.
Love your reaction. Always got that big smile on your face.
Michael's voice was/is pure summer honey
Love the Doobie Brothers! Takes me right back to high school. 💖💖💖
Just check out their Greatest hits album. Every song is a hit! "Taking it to the streets" "Listen To The Music"
Great reaction. This my favorite pop song of all time..
saw the DOOBIE BROS along with THE ALLMAN BROS AND THE GRATEFUL DEAD at RFK Stadium in Washington D.C. SIMPLY FANTASTIC CONCERT !
It's so cool to see a whole new generation finding some of this best music from what is, oddly enough, the past!
The lead singer is Mr blue eyed soul himself Michael McDonald. That song also won Grammys for record and song of the year.
Songs that teach us some new words and ideas are memorable, forever.
Aaahhhhh! Michael McDonald's voice is so magical. Kind of like Phil Collins, or Steve Winwood, or Kenny Loggins.
I love the fact that you know your artists mate cos all this lot what you said about are all LEGENDS 👍
There is a Kenny Loggins concert a few years ago where Michael McDonald does harmony with Kenny. Sounds so good.
Doobie reined when I was young. LOVED them for so long!
Long train running is a must listen by this group
I love The Doobie Brothers, Michael McDonald always had that silky voice. Every thing he sings he puts soul into it. I love the whole band a real classic.
One of my fave songs, Michael Mcdonald's awesome voice, i have The Doobie Brothers greatest hits album and Michael's solo album too. 😎👌🎵
Love your reaction to the songs.
Content of the lyrics completely belies the mood that the melody sets. But an outstanding song.
Jayvee you ROCK! Luv your spirit---beautiful indeed --- Check out the lyric sheet--Mr McDonald is not only an amazing melody maker, he can turn a phrase as well. When put together, the effect is exponentiated... ;-)
This is TALENT!
Turn it up !! Can’t believe you’ve not heard Doobies before !!!
You gotta hear JOSH Groban!! "You Raise me Up" or "To Where You Are" - he recorded these when he was only about 18. He stood in for Andrea' Botticelli when he was only 17 y/o to help Celine Dion rehearse for "The Prayer' for the Grammy's!! (which you can google as well) His voice is pure high Baritone BUTTER!! Either of these songs will give you chills when he hits the higher notes as the song progresses....(Also his song "Vincent, Starry Starry night" is also beautiful - originally sung by Don McLean in the 70's?) He looks like he is barely 15 but has the voice of a man MUCH much older.... Amazing!!
Laurie Lane I’m wondering why anyone is still sleeping on the legendary prodigy known as josh groban. To say he’s talented is an understatement.
Blue Eyed Soul , Mr. Michael McDonald 🎤🎹😎🎶 " Great Grove and Band 👏💪💜
This song just makes me smile and dance! I love the Doobie Brothers! Check out Michael McDonald next ❤️
I'm listening to this 2 years on from you posting.
This is my happy music...
My first concert as a kid at San Diego Sports Arena. Two Schlitz talls and I was good...
Well, I take it, this will NOT be the last for Doobie Bros. lol Great band! Plenty of hits..
No disappointing!
Listen to the Music . . . . What a Fool Believes (plenty to choose; pick out of a hat/lol)
Also, I recommend their hit "it Keeps You Runnin'" and Michael McDonald's solo hit "Sweet Freedom". Trust me you'll love 'em!
So I really love your videos! Just found them today! It's great to see these classics being appreciated anew!
The guy in the centre of the pic, Michael McDonald is the singer. This was released in 1979 and he re-released it in the 80's.
Michael What a Fool Believes McDonald - one of the greatest “blue eyed “ soul singers
Wise men have the power and...love this song
HAHAHA you saying at 5:00 is TOO true! People around my age that know this one sometimes know it because our mamas threw it on for sunday chores!
Some artists sing a song, some totally feel the song..this is the latter ,love your reaction Jay
This song is the jam lol
You might listen to Michael Macdonald's Motown record where he covers all of the great motown hits. It might be one of the top stepping records of all time - check it out!
Michael McDonald and Kenny Loggins ... just an incredible combination They are BOTH great "lead" singers, each in their own right.
YES!!!!! Classic!!! Love these guys.
My favorite is "little darlin"! Love Michael McDonald!! Been a fan since late 70's!
We need Takin it too the Streets by the Doobie Brothers! You WILL not be disappointed.
