That would be really interesting! I've been wondering about this for years. Is this really what is driving cars to be larger and larger at such an alarming rate?
Don't be sorry about the long explanation. As a 4xe owner, this was spot on and most buyers I feel don't understand until they live with it for a few weeks/months. I have a 21 Rubicon 4xe and it's been solid. No battery degradation, few recalls as expected but no issues. We've taken it too all the places a Jeep would go. Got badge of honors, winched it twice after it got stuck (hard to do) and just enjoyed our time with it. I live in a city and can go a few months without putting gas in it. I drive usually short trips that I can pop it back on the L2 charger at home between errands. When I know I need to go on the HWY for distance or up long climbs I just run the engine because it is way more efficient to do that and use the electric for 0-45mph periods.
Have a 2021 Rubicon 4xe. Most my trips are less than 25 miles. Which is about what my battery gives me. I plug my in every day, and I get 800 miles to the tank before the computer makes me burn the gas before it goes stale. During the two recalls which don't allow charging I'm getting about 22 mpg.
800 miles per tank seems pretty good (by my math like ~45mpg). How does the power feel driving purely in just EV mode? 134hp/181lbft doesnt seem like a lot for a 5000lb vehicle but if it's decent enough at sub 35-45mph speeds that would be okay by me.
@ALMX5DP it's a little slow but certainly good enough for city stoplight driving. Once you get it in hybrid mode with the slap stick manual mode this thing is pretty quick. Very fun for something so silly.
@@ALMX5DP I find it accelerates from a light faster than most people typically do. And the smoothness of it is nice. If only Jeep and their dealers weren't so stupid! So Jeep reduced reliability and quality and upped their prices to compete in the luxury market. Even though their bread and butter is the "working man" that really can't afford $70k Jeeps. Add to that the fire issue, poor mpg for a hybrid, death wobble and on and on. So, Jeep finally decided to offer $ 7,500 cash back to entice sales (still not working). My local Jeep dealer has 150 - ONE HUNDRED AND FIFTY Wrangler 4XE's alone! None less than $45k and on most the DEALER ADDED BACK ON A $7,500 dealer fee to offset the Jeep discount! So very many are still $65 - 75K. They might want to eventually sell them before they turn to lot rust buckets! Jeep might as well just fold up shop now!

Buy a 4xe just don't park in a garage, next to another car or close to your house😮
20 mpg seems really low for a combined fuel economy. I thought Jeep advertised that as 40 mpg?
Jeep should hire retired Japanese car engineers to learn how to design and make reliable cars.
They should sell the brand to the Japanese. For build quality you need their people the Americans are renowned for poor quality, look at the teslas.
@@reyshifyThat’s because Elon doesn’t pay to build them right, not because they don’t know how.
You both realize how many “foreign” cars are built in the US, right? Honda, Hyundai, VW, BMW, Mercedes, Acura, Kia, Nissan…..alll have plants in the US
They should just dissolve. Jeep's hayday is over. How Chrysler is still existing is miraculous. Same with Dodge.
@@joetacchino4470 They are assemble in the US, but design & engineered in Germany/Japan etc.💯
They could but it’s cheaper to build poopy products and sell them at a premium
Do the CAFE video!!
Alex. I cannot help but notice you sit closer to the steering wheel these days. Did you loose 30 lbs?
They also need to get rid of the crappy mesh/netting on the doors, they look like crap/cheap car items
Let us have a moratorium on mentioning the Scout as it won’t be available until 2026!
I own a Jeep Jk. I love it. But, it is NOT reliable. I have a hard time trusting Jeep with more electronics.
They need to either stop making the 4xe or make it fully electric drive with a gas engine generator/range extender. Make it operate SIMPLY, like trains have proven for years!
Buying any Stellantis is a mistake these days
Like the chicken tax, most 'murkins are unaware of why vehicles cost what they cost here -- please make the CAFE video, Alex!
If you buy one you best hope Jeep/Stellantis is still around to a least the warranty runs out. Hope you're ready to pay over $50k start for the bare-bones Jeep Wrangler 4xe. If you're looking for a couple of steps up be ready to fork out $60-70K+. You might be able to get a good deal because Jeeps are piling up on dealer's lots. Then wait until the warranty runs out and your repair bills cause you to have to take another auto loan to get your vehicle out of the shop.
They're offering up to $20,000 off of MSRP on the 4Xe right now.
@@dvader3263 That should tell you something.
they are dirt cheap now. The market is totally oversaturated.
Four-bee? Furbee???
My first time on your channel. Why lie about which Jeep you’re reviewing?
I think Toyota has the potential to offer a more direct competitor to the Wrangler and Bronco than the 4Runner and Land Cruiser. They've gotten close with the FJ Cruiser in the 2010s, and they've teased a concept based on the 2025 4runner. It's unlikely that they would build something like that, but like the FJ Cruiser, they just might if there's a lot of demand for it.
How do you pronounce 4xe? I heard four-by-ee, for-bye, four-ex-ee, fauxy, foxy.
Four by eeeeee
A power soft top…hmmm
cute that you don't think your viewers are nerds lol
Ko2s are quite
17kw battery pack for 20miles of range. Lmao
Any Chinese EV can do better than this
Think well ever get a Commander/Wagoneer size Wrangler? Youd think a 3 row would sell.
A 3row would be the ultimate family toy. They already have a platform in the gladiator. Just make it enclosed and add a row. Make it accessible from the rear swing gate and you have a billion dollar vehicle
Battery way too small and engine too powerful. I have a neighbor who never uses plug - need to prevent this by changing hardware and software.
Thanks but no thanks
I'll stick with my 04 rubicon
22 miles on the Battery. That's 1.27 miles/kwh. Why even bother? This is why PHEV make no sense.
It's a 4XE... no one wants a Wrangler with the battery. They keep lighting on fire and they are way too expensive.
Recalls
And so has Toyota along with just about every other car manufacturer so your point is what.
Yupp 2 so far. Sucks ass not being able to plug it in.
Don't buy or lease this.
why does Jeep Wrangler never care about improving safety? If you check the iihs and the crash video.. You are driving a paper box man.
Cafe has been ruining the american automotive industry. If people wanted these so badly then the market would of evolved on their own. All the automakers are simply chasing government regulations with models like this. Dodge is living proof america didnt want cafe standards they wanted V8s in everything, as dodge was paying so many penalties per car and had to price accodingly, and people were happy to pay said penalties to get what they wanted. Hellcats and supercharged v8s were American icons for almost a decade, getting absolutely deplorable fuel economy, but guess what, its what people wanted. People buy 4xe because its the only way to get v8 power in a wrangler for less than 100,000 dollars. If only it didnt burn your house down to do it.
EV fire rate is 25 per 100,000 vehicles.
Gas vehicle fire rate is over 1,500 per 100,000 vehicles.
Information is from the NHTSA and the NFPA, or National Fire Protection Agency.
There are several hundred gasoline vehicle fires EVERY DAY, in the USA.
If you want to burn your house down, park a gasoline vehicle in your attached garage.
Please have working smoke alarms in your home. They save lives.
Alex is a great promoter of plug ins on UA-cam. He is now promoting one of the most hated least liked most expensive E-Jeeps
He doesn't criticize any cars so he can have good relationships with car manufacturers. I watch his videos for information, not actual critical review.
You mean the best selling PHEV in the US.
@@grisa12345with guaranteed recall 😂
@@Edscomment Mine hasn’t had one..
@@grisa12345 you better check that, all have been recalled .
Ha, just don't charge it or park in a garage - typical Jeep. I wonder if it still rolls during crash testing.........
More Stellantis garbage.
Abolish the EPA problem solved. We'll see soon next year.
You got that right: there's a new sheriff in town and he has a big posse that knows where the bodies are buried!
You’re buying it for the performance
Who cares about fuel economy
People buy for a combination of reasons, it’s not so black and white…
I too bought it for the electric drive commute to and from work. But it drives great for me. I have e a Sahara with on road tires.
