I can run scales and hot licks all day... but how come my fingers ache after i play this riff for 2 minutes?
It's the curse because the riff was stolen from sabbath, see Zero the hero
Actual if U listen to zero the hero U can tell that its a completely different riff and its not in the half step tuning , slash did do lots of earl Sabbath covers when he was in his high school band slash Tidas Sloan but since that song isn't early Sabbath I highly doubt slash even knew of that riff
TricksWithCards The riff is very similar (listen to Cannibal Corpse for better audio). I don't mean copy when I say stolen, I see how you can infer that though. Also see Slither By Slash and A New Level by Pantera.

Amplitube 3 has a Slash pack that you can get that has this tone built in, and even on my Strat it sounds really close to the recording.

I hate palm muting on my strat just because of the volume knob, like welcome to the jungles intro is really hard without knocking your pinky

It's amazing how much work goes into these songs! If I was to look up how to play some modern song it would be "take a synthesizer and do some random noises and then autotune the living F*** out of their voice" there you go! :)
